When the solution literally takes a few minutes of training, yeah... it kind of is.

It took him longer to write the post than it would have to regain the ability to use those drones.

Adriana Nolen: The racial Drone Specialization is NOT a new skill, it is the old one with new function affecting Sentrys II.


The reason you can use Min/Gallente Sentrys post patch is because pre patch you trained Gal/Mim Drone Specialization in order to use Warrion II, Hobgoblin II and Hammerheads II, Ogre II etc. You didn't train amarr/caldari Done Specialization that is why you now need to buy and train the skill to use Amarr/Caldari Sentry II.

That is very short sighted. How many people logged into to find that they couldn't undock their freighters because they were overloaded? How many Guristas pilots said "dude! where's my dronebay/bandwidth?!?" Is it worth the risk of alienating a non-trivial portion of your customers with "unannounced" changes? Probably not.

The whole thread and all of the others like it all over the forum has nothing to do with the training time. It has to do with CCP's longstanding policy of "if you could use it pre-patch, you'll be able to use it post-patch" coming to an unexpected and illogical end. Illogical because not all sentries were treated the same way -- as posted here, people who could use all t2 pre patch can now use half and not use half, which doesn't make a lot of sense.

I'm more annoyed by the little thing you have to go through after (the now becoming more numerous) patches: Having to go thru all your overviews adding new ships/rats, checking fitted ships that had been changed just a little and there's probably something else.

On the subject of sentries ... yeah it's a long train to spec lv1 oO

Not a single one of my drone characters can deploy an Amarr Sentry.

But seriously, guys? Amarr?

It never once occurred to me before the expansion to actually use Amarr drones and I certainly won't be training the specialization as I never intend to allow one in my drone bay.

As they say. If that's the worst thing you can find to complain about, then things are pretty good overall.

Basically CCP is sending you a PSA to be less terrible and train those skills to III in about 8 hours each and get a 6% damage bonus.

This is one of those times where CCP lied and diverged from their proclamation of "if you can fly it now, you can fly it after".
A wise method would have been to splash this attack on drone users all over the login screen weeks ago.
But no, CCP plays the "surprise! HTFU" game again.
A great marketing move.

Not only could you not fly sentry drones before, but they even amended the change to ONLY require racial drone spec to 1. IF you could fly it before... does not apply, since it is not a ship. But they did adjust it to be a fast train for you.

Not really, no. After all, they said exactly what was going to happen. That makes lie if your ignorant statement that it was a lie. Moreover, you don't fly drones, so that makes lie of your second claim. Oh, and it has happened before when they've altered the prerequisites by a single level.

CCP Rise & his cohorts should implement a script that checks to see if you have sentry drone interfacing V. If so, it should give you atleast lvl 1 on all the racial specs.
