Eve Client damaged from download

Hi all,

I've had some trouble with my mac, and after doing a hard drive clear, I re-downloaded the EVE client.

I've got the full download and it's been verified, but after I've added the client to the apps page, and tried to run EVE, it says the file is damaged.

I'm running OS X Mavericks with an empty hard drive so there's nothing on the mac to cause it to fail.

How do I conduct a repair of the EVE client?

Please note that I cannot get the launcher to run after clicking the EVE client icon.

Thanks in advance.

It is possible that the issue could be related to the Gatekeeper application in your OS system which prevents some applications from being installed. You should be able to disable the Gatekeeper from preventing the application installation by reviewing the following forum post.

Hopefully once you have made the changes required you will be able to start the game without issues.

Please note that the directions there are incomplete.

You do this as a first step:

System Preferences -> Security & Privacy[1] -> General, and set "Allow applications downloaded from:" to Anywhere

Then launch EVE, and it will work fine. Then, and this is very important: Go back into System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General, and set it back to "App Store" or "App Store and identified developers." You will regain the security provided by Gatekeeper, and your Mac will remember that EVE is an exception, so all updates and patches will work normally.

[1] The linked instructions refer to "Privacy & Security," but the preference pane is called "Security & Privacy." Minor, but worth getting right.

There is an easier way to bypass Gatekeeper that only needs to be done once and also doesn't need to turn off Gatekeeper either.

Copy the Eve client to wherever you want - I copied it to Applications.

In Finder go to Applications then find the Eve client. Right click / Control click on the client and choose Open from the menu.

You'll still get the error message but you should also now be able to run it. Once run it will remember the setting and you'll be good to go without running a lower security system.

I had to reinstall EVE. And came across the same issue.

All I can say is thank you for the replies, I can now open EVE Big smile
