Freighter nerf

Why can't I fit a DCU to my freighter? I guess I didn't study hard enough, but I thought the point of putting low on freighters was to make them more flexible, not nerf the heck out of them. To get may cargo space back to where it is, I have to destroy my tank. To get my tank close to where it was, I have to nerf the hell out of my cargo.

They couldn't make it so I could use the slots to get back to where I was? Because, you know, just like my car, I wake up up one day and suddenly the trunk won't hold as much and all the metal magically became plastic.

Having trouble with the concept. Probably get flamed, but can someone explain why freighters now have low slots yet can't can't fit a DCU?

Thanks.

May I have your stuff?

Since freighters have so much structure HP, a DC2 would've made them rather overpowered in terms of tank.

You don't get to double your EHP for the sacrifice of one lowslot that has no drawbacks.

The simpler answer: you don't have enough CPU.

"So we expect that most Freighter and Jump Freighter pilots will use their three low slots to mix and match the following modules to meet their needs:
Expanded Cargoholds
Reinforced Bulkheads
Hyperspatial Accelerators (warp speed modules)
Inertia Stabilizers
Overdrive Injector Systems
(For certain armor tanking fits) Adaptive Nano Platings
(For Jump Freighters) Capacitor Power Relays
(For Jump Freighters after the Crius release) Jump Fuel Conservation Modules"

I assume the OP didn't follow the discussion. They never said we would be able to fit a DC on a freighter.

I think they have nerfed the Freighters far to much
It is even more easy now to gank the Freighters now cause if you want to get >600.000m³ which the most people really need, your EHP are lower than 100.000

And if you want your Tank back, your Cargo Hold gets so small that you could better use an Orca which is faster and Cheaper
I mean, that they neved the EHP of Freighters is ok because you should decide beetween gank or Cargo, but taking
300.000 m³ cargo hold away?????? Now your cargo hold is so much smaller even with 3 T2 cargo expanders that the Freighter isnt worth its Price any more, and if you think about the EHP with 3 Cargo exp. , its a joke to pay 1.4 billion ISK for one
Thanks a lot CCP for destroying the next Ship Class.....

yeah they have overdone it slightly i would say they should either add some cargohold back probably in the 100k department or reduce the penalty on cargohold expanders or make it possible to fit a dc or switch armor and structure hitpoints.

I don't know how often I have read those ridiculous request for medium sized freightes.
Now that CCP theoretically introduced them everybody is crying again Roll

I can live with that Change and I am using freighters on a daily Basis. Now they are much more faster wen not fully loaded. Smile That's great, afk and and active traveling way.

that is correct to some extent im using mine mostly for bulk loads so and i still think they have overdone it, but not as bad as my first post indicated. but i still think the freighters should lose some structure points and get more armor.

2 Expanded Carghold IIs, 1 Adaptive Nano Plating II on an Obelisk gives 894,000 cargo while still retaining over 203k EHP.

I like the changes. You can now fit for tank if you're transporting something small and valuable or you can fit for max cargo capacity if you're transporting stuff of average value.

I like the increased flexibility that the new freighter lowslots provide. Smile

ah that explains somethings im flying charon and she has a butload in shield hp which means your trick wont work on her. im currently trying to find a way to tank her properly with a proper cargohold but i end up either with no cargohold or no ehp tank

I think this is a real disparity between armor and shield based freighters that should be addressed as the armor based ones are noticeably better due the existence of adaptive nano platings.

I would fit my freighter with max warp speed anyways. 3 of those plus the pirate implants that increase warp and suddenly your freighter warps ~430% faster than it used to.

Just one fact:

An Ark - fitted for tank - can now gain upwards of 700k EHP. Gank that, I dare you.

And the existence of the Slave implants...don't forget those. Even the low grade set will get you a Providence with 224k EHP with 880k cargo hold. So add a low slot mod with no cpu usage that gives shield resists and add a set of implants for shields that work like slaves and presto balance can be restored Shocked

Really it was a nerf to shield freighters, and a buff to armor freighters, due to nano plating.

They should have just left freighters alone. They were balanced before. Now they are unbalanced.

Confirming that 2 out of 4 freighters being completely inferior was "balanced".

Then those two you say were inferior should have been buffed to be in line with the other two. Its not like no one ever flew those two you say were inferior. Ive always seen all four freighters being flown all through out.
