Question regarding character name changing

Will CCP ever allow you to change the name of a character for the price of a PLEX or two? Why haven't they already allowed this...what are their concerns?

I assume they don't want people to continuously change their names in an attempt to avoid accountability in numerous matters; in which case, they could limit name changing to once a year or once every six months. In addition, as has been proposed by others in the past, they could do something similar to an employment history for the character's past names in order to keep track of a character's history.

I mean, they fully support the purchasing of characters...it would be nice to be able to name a purchased character something that suits you.

I would greatly appreciate the thoughts of others on the matter, as well as any further insight into why such a system has not already been implemented

This topic comes up fairly regularly and basically no, there is no plan to introduce this as an option.

The reasons primarily boil down to your characters name being it's main identity and being able to change it would allow awoxers, scammers, bad forum posters, etc. a quick means of changing their identity.

The choices you make have consequences, including consequences for the reputation of your character.

Some of you guys need to relax...if you don't like the topic of the thread move along...no need to freak out about it or post at all for that matter. I don't always have time to comb through countless posts and forums topics to find the answers I am looking for...after all EVE is only a game and most of us have real lives that take precedence.

Thank you for all those who aren't so narrow minded as to consider the possibility for change here; it's happened before on other aspects of EVE and CCP seem to really be gearing up for change lately, so I wouldn't dismiss the possibility. In my eyes, there really is no logical reason for not implementing such a system as there are numerous ways to confront the few problems raised by implementing such an idea that would work well within the confines of the game. So lighten up people, and for those who would appreciate something like this...there's hope :)

If you do not like your name some months in - tough

If you do not like the name of a character you are thinking of buying - do not buy it.

Also... NO!

The ability to rename characters whitewashes that characters reputation and adds a lot of extra complexity to the game.

Only way I'd even be happy with this is if the info on the character listed all the names previously held by that character.
