Hey guys,

I started playing EvE last year for a while. I really enjoyed it but struggled to find a Corp that had enough people playing my time and fun enough to waste hours with.

I have around 8mil SP, Into Caldari PvE right now. I can run a Tengu but cant afford one. I currently Fly a drake and do L3's.

I enjoy mining. I did play years and years ago and i mined daily for 5+ hours a day. but that account is long gone, I do not have a miner atm.

I will answer questions as people peak my intrest and seem generally interested in helping.

I was given 7 days free time, and will subscribe if someone can convince me to do so. I also have never posted on the forums so is it legit to scam me here too? (so i know for people who are helping me or offering to) idk how that all works since i dont post in forums very often.

I love this game, its so perfect for me in every way, but i'm far beind and I want to be helpful and learn i will even pay my own way if someone is there to guide me and keep me gaming. None of my friends who played this stayed here.

Currently like 3 jumps for Jita

Please help me out. I'm dying to get stuck on EvE. I hate solo play and when I get hooked, i'm in it for years. I play currently 2 games. SO i don't have a huge library and hop all over.

What timezone are you in?

Also, in joining a Corp, what activities are you primarily interested in (eg. Missioning, exploration, pvp, manufacturing, etc.)?

EST but i play from like 9pm to 6am when im working. and pretty much 18 hours a day when im not working.

I dont enjoy pvp, So far the most fun was mining and missions. but i havent done any excursions, or exploring, or wormholes, any of the newer stuff in the last couple years i haven't even tried.

I'm very starship captain mentality, my ship is everything. Losing it must come at a great loss, rather then dropping ships like tic tacs.

Far behind in what? You train your core skills, pick a ship, pick a fitting set for that ship, and when you have that down you are skilled as much as any vet flying the same ship. This is why most of us have alts (not just forum alts), it doesn't take much to be good at something. It's when you try to split your training into a lot of different things is where you never "catch up". The only real advantage to being in the game a long time is availability of a lot of different ships, but that is not any real advantage to what one is flying at the moment. Much different than the typical level progression themepark game.

I'm in it for the money

Yes, because in Eve the game grinds itself so it can add grind in other places.

This is a good point, and I do agree so i'll do whatever it takes i'll just start training once i find a corp or a spot that i can fit in well with. I am leaning twords Missions and mining, I know i really enjoy mining but there is so much more out there i dont know so maybe im all wrong on what i will love.

Yo dawg, I heard you like grind...

OP: It's hard to advise a corp for you without an idea of what you like. Missioning and mining are activities that have historically proven to have a very low rate of player retention. This likely has something to do with them being boring as ****-ing balls. Honestly, there is very little reason to mine as a corp (orca boosts are about the extent of it) and zero reason to mission in a group. If you're looking for socialization in the game, you're going to want to discover PvP.

There's a number of ways to do that:

1. Brave Newbies
2. Agony Unleashed classes
3. A Factional Warfare(FW) corp. Be selective, some FW are just there to farm without actually fighting, and won't teach you much beyond how to fit an unholy amount of war stabs on your ship.
4. Daytrip into wormholes. GIves you that PvE fix while also introducing you to danger, dscan, and other find things. Coule lead to living fulltime in wormholes, which I highly enjoy.
5. Red vs. Blue (RvB). Cheap ships, lots of people leading fleets of various sizes, good place to learn the basics.

Feel free to convo or mail me if you have any more questions, always willing to help new players.

Missions? There are different types of missions. If you are talking about combat missions rather than industry missions, well that is what I mean about mixing which takes longer. I'd recommend either picking combat pilot or industrialist, stick with that for at least 90 days, if not until you have some 10m SP with a little variety in that role.

I have three combat pilots, I don't touch industry apart from a little salvaging and marketing which is common for a combat pilot. Other games, yes I've done lots of crafting etc, just not here, I keep focus. Just like industrialists, they should get a little combat skill, primarily with drones. But otherwise, best to focus on one or the other if you want to have something on par with everyone else quickly. Some are fine with mixing, and that's fine for them, but you mentioned "catching up" and certainly mixing is the slowest road.

If it was any pvp, Tackling was by far the most facinating part to me

I'm not talking about grinding, I'm talking about ship and skill equalization between newbies and vets. In a level progression themepark you only catch up when you ding level ~90 like everyone else. Here, you just need to skill a ship, such as a frig, to be on level with someone that has played EVE for 10 years, and has the same ship, as far as that ship is concerned. Your grinding bitching adds/subtracts nothing.

I recommend it myself too. um but as far as for pvp that is just personal opinion. I actually like mission running, and FW offers another spin on mission running Blink more challenge. I mean if you only mission run in FW, it's still pvp, even if it's by avoidance if that is what you choose. Every aspect of EVE has PvP, it's part of the environment. But the choice is how you wish to participate in pvp, that is the question.

But there is more beyond that, there are a lot of ways to mission run, different opportunities so you don't easily burn out. Yeah, if you are just going to grind lvl4's in highsec, you will probably burn out. But FW, DED's, Arc's, COSMOS, Incursions, etc.. lots to do for mission runners in or around mission type stuff. Don't need to be a carebear, don't need to camp gates16hrs a day, there is everything in-between and a lot of ways to do it.

A lot of advice so far, but no hands out looking to steer me in one direction. I'm not looking for free stuff, thats not my intention, i want a seasoned player to ask questions and lead me down a path. I'll be happy to tag along for whatever amount of time i need to learn the career.

I do want to do this on a big scale eventually. I love group play. PVE and PVP can be included i'm ok with it. I just don't want to focus entirely on pvp fighting. Mining/wormholes/exploration pvp is just low sec and i'm ok with that.

Questions:

Do you have this essential tool or one like it to help you with ship fitting?

Are you ready now to stand firm and face the ****storm of humiliation and grief that new players are so often pummeled with? Can you shrug off the insults and find your own way despite the attempts to derail your resolve that are certain to crop up? Can you take responsibility for your own fate... your...own...mistakes?

Are you interested in signing up for this class which will offer you an invaluable primer on PvP?
(Even if you don't plan to pursue PvP as a path I highly recommend being on this side of the gun sights at least once.)

Can you dig it?

If you like any of the older ship models (original artwork) better than the redesign of your favorite hull and don't want them to be lost forever, support ship customization and this feature request.

Hello Miko, much of what's been said is good advice and also great suggestions from the community.

I would also recommend Eve-Uni. They have a lot of different courses and can help someone like you to get into what ever you like to do, and even provide (I"m not sure on this)free ships for those times if you lose one. [citation needed]. I also recommend maybe searching youtube and watch some of the combat videos and you can sure learn from those by listening to the Fleet Commanders giving out orders in fleet battles.

My best wishes in your choosen career path.

So I want to thank everyone who has posted to me and replied to me in game. I wanted to add an update.

I subbed up for a month, as well as dropped a duo training so i can train both my miner and my mission runner together.

I'm still looking for a solid home, keep sending me information and requests. I'll get to them as I can. I wouldn't mind someone who plays all day as well for some company and experience learning more about EvE.

I'm here to stay if i can find a good home. I am ready and I have the time to dedicate to EvE.

Much thanks to everyone again. Please keep this thread going too :)

well if you are a miner/mission runner, try Khanid space. Its where I live. My corp is tiny but trying to reach out to people like you xD that being said I don't think i can mention that here ;)

anyhow, as far as your paths go, I would suggest getting into exploration. They just made it a bit easier now by removing loot spew, and even in a high sec system you can make a lot of isk. No pvp required, either. As for running missions- those are going to get repetitive really fast, but, I would say if you do combat missions- grab several of them at a time. If you are caldari, you have a small advantage in that its often said that caldari race has some of the best PvE boats out there. missiles/shields are awesome for missions, especially with missiles being able to change damage type so fast and consistently.

also, mining is in a good position right now with the recent buffs to barges. however, if you can find a corp with a POS, i would suggest stockpiling ore until the changes in july- since refining rates will be changed then.

If you ever need any real questions, feel free to drop me a message =) I have been doing mainly PvE for years so I know the ins and outs of making things fun and worthwhile =)
