A new shiny mining ship means we need some fun blowing them up.

First person to EVEmail me 25 Prospect solo killmails will receive a prize. It will be a good prize.

Kills must be posted on an API-verified killboard. I will accept suicide ganks, wardecs, AWOX kills, and other forms of highsec combat where the Prospect pilot is caught by surprise.

Prospects that are not mining fitted do not count.

Edit: Due to limited interest, this prize may be smaller than previously offered. If you are close to claiming the original prize, EVEmail me, let me know, and I'll still honor it if you get there soonish.

i'm just wondering who'd use a prospect in high sec. then again this is eve, a game where a good number of people have questionable intelligence.

"OMG THE NEW SHIP IT IS SO SHINY" syndrome, that is why it will be used at first.

After that, it will at least be worth considering solo because of every mining ship, it will have the highest % of time actually mining. Mackinaws don't need to return to return to base all that often, but when they do they take ages to align and longer to warp.

It *looks* to be best suited to being a combat ship in highsec, however.

align time is irrelevant, your lasers don't turn off when you align.

I also support and approve of this product and or service. In fact I would like to contribute to the prize pool. Sabriz, let me know who your winner is and I'll send them an additional prize.

Well considering we've seen people mining in drakes and other combat ships, is it really surprising?

It just seems like wasted potential to me. Its right up there with the Mining Megathron we caught in lowsec mining Veldspar years ago.. it was so sad that it just needed to be put out of its misery.

Agreed. Hence the bounty.

Oh I agree with the bounty 100%.

I want to see the killmails, because for some reason I feel that all the highsec Prospects will be lacking Cov Ops cloaks and will be fitted for pure yield and negative zero tanks... not to mention they will largely be.. gasp... AFK.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

It has a pretty large ore hold for a ship of its size, so I suspect it will be used a lot by AFK miners. Something about cost efficiency. Also if the miner is by some miracle actually paying attention to their surroundings, then they will be gone before a ganker arrives on grid.

Depends on my liquidity.

Might be a Rattlesnake hull, might be a billion ISK, might be something else of that general value range.

but mining frigate V takes almost the same time as training a fresh character in to a retriever. not to mention, if you can fly a retriever you can also fly the other barges.
I honestly can't see afk miners favouring a smaller ore hold, and a lower yield. Also, it seems to cost more than a retriever currently.

so for the same time investment a retriever gives you more of basically everything in comparison to a prospect, unless you're huffing gas.

I have a feeling this will probably be the case, Null/WH/Low gas huffer.

You have to be sorta paying attention to do that as it is.

I'm sure some idiots will fly them in highsec. Finding 25 might take some doing though.
