Elite Question - NOT Comparison or Death of Eve Nonsense

This is NOT an Elite to Eve comparison...

I've been watching some videos of ED, and it seems they're all the same. Buy some cargo, undock, warp, get interdicted by (I think) NPC's, have a dog fight, win, warp to station, dock, sell.

Is there more to it right now, or is that about it?

How does one find multiplayer PvP? When it comes to PvP, is there anything that keeps this from simply being a turning match? Is the PvP the type of thing where you load up a queue and wait for a game to start (like COD), or do you just fly around until you find someone and then start shooting (like Eve)? Something different?

Thanks for your time.

ED is just a game that wants to be like EVE but with full on, raging Incarna. It's made by and supported by people who don't understand why they don't work together.

I think you got Elite and Star Citizen mixed up. I have not yet seen anything that has to do with avatars in Elite.

As for PVP I have no idea how that will work but I would imagine a level of skill and tactics is involved just like any combat flight sim.

Well, as far as I know it, ED is just like the other ELITE's before it, the first of which is the venerable Elite from 1984 (!).

Have a space ship, trade, fight, get a better space ship, more or less loose story to follow, if you want to. etc. etc.

Only real difference is, ED now has multiplayer components. :)

Hope that helps, here's the link to the official web site: link

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

ED is a sequel to the third game Frontier: First Encounters.

But to answer your question, Elite has always been about freedom in these games and what you do is up to you (the player) to decide if you want to do trade runs, if you want to be a pirate or if you want to be a bounty hunter. The choice is yours.

As for PvP, I think it will be more of a fly around until you find someone or someone finds you.

Avatars are coming in future iterations to ED. Actually, avatars for Elite are as old as Elite 4; they just hadn't time and money to develop them for launch (and launch ED before SC was supposed to launch).

Some ED ships already have got some interiors for use with avatars.

The whole point will be, of course, "avatars for what?"

Q: Should we be worried? A: Nope. (...) Worry a lot if Fozzie, Masterplan, Rise, Veritas, Bettik, Ytterbium, Scarpia, Arrow, or even Greyscale leaves. Worry a little if Punkturis, karkur, SoniClover, Affinity, Goliath, or Xhagen leaves.

You're right, my bad. Oops. I hadn't realized there were two big popular space games going around as of late, and I apparently haven't given ED much of a glance as I thought all this time it was Star Citizen. =P

Not the first time I'm guilty of this.
