Most New Players' First PvP Experience....

Think my first losses were in the starter system to Concord. I kept trying to kill other rookies whenever any of the starter missions annoyed me. Luckily they found it entertaining and I quite enjoyed being squished by Concord. Probably why none of my earlier losses are particularly memorable.

The earliest two I rmember was when I'd switched to a mining character so I could spend time reading guides and grind up the ISK for learning skillbooks. Someone can flipped me, so I ended up switching to mining in a Badger. Seriously, I spent about 10 hours the following weekend mining, was ready to quit. Then went and hauled NPC trade goods into null. Ran into a gatecamp and died - and at this point got interested again. I must have turned all effects and sounds on because the explosion was spectacular and made me burst out laughing.

Later ones were all against corpies in highsec, we used to mess about quite a lot (and ran corp tournies). First proper loss was when a corpie went nuts during a tourney and podded a couple of people, so we all went and 1v1'd him. In our mission ships lmao, that was a mistake.

We had a few highsec wars which we fought rather than got ganked in. Lost a fair bit in those but it was a good way to get into PVP and get over the jitters. Once you've lost a few ships you start getting it into perspective (helps if you get a few KMs along the way).

March 2006. Warped at 15 in Rancer and got sniped out by Lifewire in a Megathron while stucked by tunnel vision panic.

My first pvp experience: "Oh look a wormhole..."

Heron blows up to a missile volley from a Tengu.
Received 5 mils from the guy with the message "Buy a new ship. Stay out of wormholes."
Did that ever since. :D
The money he gave me were actually more than the Heron and I bought skills and modules and stuff. So in a way the dude actually helped me.

My first "pvp":

Hey, what's this "null sec" I've heard so much about? Guess I'll find some and jump in in my trusty noobship. *Jumps gate* Hey, why does space look all shiney? Oh look, another ship... with a yellow, no wait, red box around-

........Well that was quick.

My first loss was my brand new iteron IV. I went out and buyed a whole load of tritanium in lowsec because I would get it sooo much cheaper out there than in highsec (around...100k ISK per filled hauler). Got catched by a loki on the last gate.

First loss was a venture while ninja-mining in lowsec.

Second loss was an atron+pod while ninja-looting in highsec.

First kill was a Vexor (me in a Thorax) while ninja-salvaging in highsec.

Then i gave up all this ninja crap and went to lowsec to become a ronin.

This isn't mine, but I introduced my wife to the game by suicide ganking her first cruiser. That way she learned the aggression mechanics.

It usually goes a little something like this:

ABSOLUTELY FALSE!

Why? The truck didn't hit his brakes and reverse over the little kid. So unlike lowsec the kid wasn't podded.

I got sent into low sec by a mission and my ship got absolutely melted by an old school 7 heat sink geddon. I was so awestruck by it that the pilot inspired me to take up pvp and become a pirate and around 2 years later he became my CEO by sheer coincidence. We both had a good laugh about it when I realized who he was.

First pvp experience and immediatly a loss was when i had mined over 2 months to build myself a raven -that's in the time when the best way to mine was in an apoc btw around 2004/2005 - and once i had finished building it i boarded it , undocked and set destination to ecp-8 ... it died 20 minutes later in ecp-8 Lol .

That loss was one of the best things i have experienced in eve tbh till this day , taught me a LOAD of lessons in one go.Blink

My first PvP experience was with a different account. I had mined for two weeks in a bantam and desided to cash in my effort. So I took my new badger that I barely could offord and flew to the best price I could find on the market. Like 5 jumps later I enter low sec. Like 5 seconds later I was podded and laughed at. Apparently I was a "f*cking noob". Two years later I come back and start a new account. That was 2 years ago.

There are two kinds of children that play in sandboxes. Those who build castles and those who kick them down. It's a symbiosis.

My First Time was with, I think, R1FTA (and by "with" I mean "on the receiving end"). I had taken a Velator into Lowsec to do some mining when I was only a few days old, and one of them warped into a belt with me when I was half-through a single cycle. I got pointed and webbed, and he attempted to ransom me.

I laughed at it, shot the **** with him for a minute or two as he tried to ransom with me, then set my ship to self destruct. He blasted me at this point, then, and because I didn't yet have an Escape tab created, I ended up getting my pod pointed, as well. I promptly set up my pod to self destruct, and the guy tried to barter with me for ransom (getting down to a million ISK, which was significant at that point in time for me) until he popped my pod at about 30 seconds left.

I sent him a mail after commenting that if he had waited about 30 seconds longer to grab me, he would have been able to make a few hundred-thousand ISK off the ore I would have mined. He replied, complimenting me on how "cheeky" (his word) I was, and that he liked that attitude.

It was probably one of the best moments I had ever had in an MMO.

My first PvP experience was when a ganker followed me into a mission - me in a cruiser, him in a battleship. He hit me with a swarm of T2 drones, then after blowing up my ship and scramming my pod, offered to release me for 1 ISK and a warning that since I'm a noob and don't know much, THIS time he'll be nice about it.

It's okay. I immediately put him in my contacts with good standings. Every time he logs, I get his picture on my screen. After a few years, I too could use a T2 ship with T2 gear and T2 drones. I tracked him down using locator agents. Found him in a station, then camped it. He came out. He blew up. I gave him 1 ISK, with a message that read: You don't remember me, do you.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

My first loss was in a starter system (Couster) on my third or fourth day in the game.

Loved it so much I immediately moved to lowsec and was killed many times over.

Wouldn't change a thing about that experience.

When I made Garamonde, I'd already decided that I didn't want to be a carebear anymore. So, I solo'd for a bit to get used to PvP, then joined M3 Corp. Had to take a break for a bit, and when I came back, I sought out a pirate corp... EVE has rarely been boring since then...

My first loss was to one of you guys, bravely mining in a Navitas in Seyllin, lowsec, two years ago. I'd made about five good runs fully loaded with Jaspet and was on my sixth I think, when bam, I was exploding. Thought it was rats at first, but then I saw the red locking my pod... Oops

What had happened was, you violated the Plagioclase Protection Act of 2009.... a not-so-well-known law imposed by General Tso's Alliance, to protect our endangered space rocks :p

I lost my first ship because I tried doing a Sleeper site with a Thrasher (almost alpha'd by one shot from an Orthrus, lol) and ran away to a planet. I hadn't bookmarked the hole back, so while I was probing I hadn't noticed the Loki that had appeared to give me a big hug.

Your first PvP experiences will almost always be a loss. Its what you learn from the losses that counts.

CCP ignore me please, I make too much sense.

I remember losing my first ship (a frigate) to an enemy wardeccer because I had NO idea about it at the time. Got popped exiting a station.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear.

Your first mistake was Rancer.
There is no PvE in Rancer..... there is only sorrow and loss.

Embarrassed to say my first loss was a hauler a few days in. I had just bought a noob skill book and went to fetch it in a low sec system, I thought cause my hauler was "big" i'd be able to tank any damage on my trip and got ganked by someone tanking the gate guns....Good old WoW, messed my perpective right up Roll
