Active and passive SP would be good for EvE

There should be SP rewards for taking action in EvE. As the isk faucets continue to get drawn down there needs to be other rewards for actually participating in EvE. The SP gained in this way could be distributed at the players discretion.

It will also give new players a way to "catch up", rewarding actual skill, not just time subscribed.

It also has the potential of increasing Plex sales. As players advance they will still need to buy skill books. Accelerated advancement would put SP gain way ahead of isk gain giving a players a choice of grinding to their new shiny or just shelling out the RL currency of their choice.

Discuss if you would like.

... can hear the screaming now: "CCP, how many SP do I get for ganking a freighter ?"

It goes downhill from there, rapidly, as all the special snowflakes whine about why they should get special SP bonuses for all kinds of wildass kinds of "Active" game play.

Use the isk to buy a character with the SP you want from the Character Bazaar.[1]

Buy a character if you want to "get ahead".

Is ship spinning in the station considered "Active"?

My limited Dust experience from a ways back I remember sleeping on the dropship or hiding under a tree during a imssion and doing nothing was considered "active" for the distrobution of SP. LOL

Great Idea!!! We could put NPC's everywhere with little exclamation marks over their heads to let us know they have some "active SP" for us. They could have us do fun things like collect 25 fedo's or kill 10 gnoll..er.. Guristas. Ugh

Op should have titled his thread:

"I hate Eve and this is my idea to kill it as quickly as possible."

Ordinarily I would take the time to refer your post to the correct subforum (F&I), but in this case I am going to go ahead and tell you to trashbin it and hope the community forgives you for thinking such bad thoughts.

EvE already has active and passive SP. You can actively gain SP while passively AFK cloaking NC. Or you can passively gain SP while actively shooting me in Providence. There doesn't need to be solutions for non-existent problems.

If you look at them, you can see that all of them, much like you, didn't search to see if the topic has come up before.

They also didn't consider how this would break the game, and had tons of people tell them why it would.

I'll just say no thanks, and let the threads speak for themselves as to why its a bad idea.

EDIT:

OH SNAP!, I forgot to say F&I forums are that way --->

People will rage and cry if you change their precious Eve, even though a slight SP gain modifier for playing the game would change things for the better.

Oh wow! Another pokemon thread. You also caught them all.

Yeah, logging in versus skill queueing shouldn't offer any rewards.

It sure would, I could afk mine all day to gain mining sp, then I could use 2 passive shield tank drakes on alts with hobgobs to improve my drone skills, and when im done with that, small lasers in perma tanked BSs to grind gunnery. Sounds like a great system that allows me to game the system to my advantage.

Well, let's just get this "Passive" thing working as it should... go for the new "gold standard" parity of 1 sp for every ISK that passes through your wallet.

Obvious and somewhat hilarious abuses and exploits aside... everyone who comes into the game should be fully skilled and flying a Titan in, oh, 3 days. P

What an asinine post. If only your comments were as robust as your assumptions.

Obviously it wouldn't be as simple as having SP handed to you for logging in, and it wouldn't be extremely different than it is now.

I'm not defending the integrity of this thread - don't get me wrong. I'm pretty sure this thread was just like the many that came before it with equal or less thought involved.
