You people and your silly little phones, ten years behind the times, and ten years ahead in price. There's nothing wrong with paying way less for a much larger rig when you can get the tech ten years earlier. The size just helps you not lose it, and makes it less susceptible to breaking. You couldn't pay me to trade in my PC for a smartphone.

It's not exponential. It's only a linear increase of energy transferred per second.. I think.
Which makes for a quadratic increase in accumulated energy over time.

Still enough reason to stay away from said house.
