Hyperion Model Balance

The hyperion needs its high slot hard points re-balanced. After losing a high slot it looks silly with four weapons on one side and 3 on the other.

Something to think about when the model comes up for review.

I never understood why some ships have more hardpoints on the model than its actually available to fit, eg. Drake, Corax.

I dont like it. I want them all to be filled.

Symmetrical ships... asymmetrical weapons.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Symmetrical is the new wave in New Eden, and the model is looking old.

To be fair, as one player already pointed out, the Hyp did not to long ago (prior to tiericide) have 8 guns and Art hasn't gotten around to it yet. Secondly, since the Hyp doesn't have a T2/Faction equivalent, keeping the current model may even prove to mean less work for CCP down the road. Fingers crossed...well, for a T2/Faction Hyp, I mean.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Gallente/Minmatar should stay asymmetrical, however if there is a graphical hardpoint in an area a gun cannot be palced, that DOES need to be addressed, perhaps not a total remodel, just a touch-up on the locations that need it.

Amarr should be the ones who are perfectly symmetrical, alas CCP likes taunting Amarr players with those little off-symmetry thigns like the section on the side of the coercer, or the omen.

Even new symmetrical ships like the new mordus ships have a asymmetrical turret layout which looks horrible.
only thing you can do is annoy the art devs till they give up and replace the turrets/ missile lauchers to be symmetrical. in case of the talwar it worked :D

If I recall correctly... the DEVs like to have "extra" model slots just in case they have to rebalance it in the future. That way they don't have to bug the art department for a "rework" every time they change the stats.

In the case of the Drake and Hyperion...

- the Drake used to have 8 launchers when it first came out... which was reduced to 7 because "lol-OP" and then reduced to 6 for "balancing."
- the Hyperion used to have 8 turrets... which was reduced to 6 for "balancing" reasons. If you play around with the turret placement you can still get symmetry... just ignore the 2 empty points and/or role play them as docking rings.

Doesn't make me miss my 8-gun Hype any less though Cry

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia
