So this patch seems as popular as the Incarna expansion was.
Well, let's see… Incarna made the Sunday PCU drop by 3,500; Crucible made the Sunday PCU increase by 7,500.

So no, that would make this one negative twice as popular. P

Can't mess with that logic! In all seriousness, this is a great patch Cool

I think it would help to fix the bug that lets the interface magically disappear on WinXP systems. Right now it's not really playable for quite a few players.

You are factually right, the PCU measurements linked are peaks not all time top 10 pcu numbers. Your conclusion is interesting - reveals a level of bitterness that overrides all context. Your conclusion says more about you than the numbers.

Probably worth looking at the trends between January 2011 and now Roll

Sure, here you go:

What I see there is that the downward trend since Incursion slowed down a bit after the summer, when CCP started announcing their change of direction. October was pretty strong (see below), but a drop mid-november put the numbers back in line with the overall downward trend.
The number of online users has increased quite a bit since Crucible, which could be considered a sign of recovery, but it is too early to say if the trend has been broken.

And since you're a fan of context, here's a few things to consider when looking at the number of users:
Oct 14th - Oct 28th: Reactivation offer ($5)
Oct 28th - Nov 28th: Power of 2 offer
Dec 2nd: 60-day trial key for all users
Dec 3rd - Dec 6th: PLEX sale

Sound marketing, but it might temporarily inflate the numbers.

So this is why...

- My usual JF cyno route system suddenly has 15 people in it, some of which look like ebil pirates that might try something... I guess I'll reschedule for a quieter moment.
- Station I usually operate at suddenly has a huge factory slot queue that I've not seen for a while. Uh. Looks like I may have to check for alternatives in nearby systems.
- Stuff put up in Jita flies off like it's Black Friday sale or something.

Yeah, there seems to be quite a bit of activity this weekend...

If there had not been such odd ui changes I guess more people would log in.

Skyrim also had an effect.

Nov 12th - Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, and half a dozen big-name titles were released around then. MW3 was the 8th, BF3 was the 10th, Skyrim was the 11th.

Oct 1st - I can't recall what the reason for the slump there was.

What are you doing with that Decade old OS ?!?

Anyways logged in X accounts for my "I was there" claim

Really loving the new graphics. Been showing the kids engine trails. Oldest son gasped at the sight of a lava planet.

53 spins before my kids pointed out the counter lol

Kind of sad when 50k peak is now news. Welcome back 2009.

I wouldn't however look too much into it. With how much CCP has been pushing trial promotions the numbers really don't signify anything yet. Look at trends not peaks to see the overall health of things before getting too excited.

The Goonswarm ice interdiction started, and a whole lot of bots were kept offline… Blink

Also, eve-offline seems to be broken. Chribba, do something!
