(hehe, 2 days later, this looks funny)

So I train my alt to use a bomber. I buy the ship. I fit the Torpedo Launchers.
... and then, there is no ammo that I can put in them. Question

Torpedo Launchers - Required skills:
Missile Launcher Operation I

Standard Torpedoes - Required skills:
Torpedoes I (besides Missile Launcher Operation I)

... and you guys said CCP hates drones. P

Well, Torpedos are intended to be a Battleship Weaponsystem, with the exception of Stealth Bombers. So it's only natural that the use of that system needs some prequire-skills. And it's the same in all missile skills as i know.

All other weapons (lazors/hybrids/projectiles), even the capital size ones, need no skill for Standard ammo.
If you can fit the weapon, you can add ammo to it.

Probably a bug on the launchers that they can be fit without having the Torpedos skill.

It's been this way for a long time, it's also the same for cruiser missiles. I remember putting cruises on my Raven way back in the day and then not being able to load any ammo into it without Missile Launcher Operation V.

Contact the developers, Herp and Derp.
I think they still have an office in headquarters somewhere.
I have seen recent examples of their work.

You can put defender missiles in them....

Yea, its dumb. It also shows that you can have skill requirements limiting the ammo without limiting the weapon use.
So... let faction guns load T2 ammo if you have T2 skills.

Other weapon have those requirements in the weapon itself rather than the ammo.

Missiles used to be able to be fit into non class launchers. Cruise Kestrels were common. Torp Caracals were too.

Yup. Gunnery + Gun skill - Instead of MLO + Ammo skill.

This goes back to the time when you could fit any type of missile in any type of launcher as long as the ammo wasn't too large. Kestrels with Light Missiles Launchers with Torpedoes was all the rage for a while back in 2004-2005.

From the way back machine:

A Kestrel could fit cruises into a light missile launcher. If I recall you only could load 1 per launcher, so after you shot the salvo you have to reload. However, this was in the days before all the specialized missile skills and the explosion radius and velocity calculations. So a salvo of cruises from a Kestrel would one shot another frigate. This was also in the time before any tech-2 other than the miner-II, which in itself is a huge story…

Torpedoes were awesome back then, long range, huge wallop when they hit (They were really slow). A Caracal with heavy launchers could load 2 torpedoes per launcher.

Eventually through patching, it became impossible to undock these fits after the changes, (Which set the precedent on how ship changes after a patch that had slots removed were handled) and then even further on I think they all got unfitted. I don’t exactly remember what happened to them, as I had a couple that I was saving, but they are gone now.

The stealth bomber class is a retro nod back to the days of cruise Kestrels. In many ways a much better ship, as the primary use of the cruise Kestrel was high sec ganking.

Back before HP buffs, tracking, or stacking penalties, an 7 mega pulse armageddon with 8 heat sinks could do something silly like 3,000-4,000 dps and back then BS only had around 20-30k EHP when buffer fit..... So it could melt a whole fleet of other ships and perfectly track and kill frigs trying to catch it.

That awkward moment at the Gentlemen's Club when you see your sister on the stage....and you're not sure where to put the money....
