Keep doing what you're doing and post the results. The stories behind what you uncover would be interesting.

Though I'm sure they'd be fascinating, I'd see how much those uncovered were willing to pay to stay in the shadows... Idea

Haha, that's an interesting idea indeed. Could work.

Do you know who's going to inherit New Eden? Arms dealers. Because everyone else is too busy killing each other.

Though collecting intel may not be 'exciting' to some, your post reminded me of an old article about the Mittani, and how his spy network was instrumental in destroying his corp's adversaries. Knowledge is power. Don't let anyone dissuade you from your passion. Cool

I'm used to people gathering intel on me and telling me what they know about me. The only time someone spooked me, though, was when I was on my original 3 characters. One of these characters had no connection what so ever to the other two. While I was sitting in station, in a different region, someone traded me a shuttle named "____'s Shuttle", where "____" was the name of my main character. That was spooky. So much so that all those three characters were eventually sold.

If anyone could tell me the name of those three characters, however, I'd give you 1 billion ISK and hire you to run intel for me. :)

You guys can hate all you want but I'm with the OP on this one. Can be pretty fun putting all the pieces together like a detective. I wouldn't mind learning some tricks of the trade myself tbh.

You're not the only one who enjoys a little data mining:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4271660#post4271660

EVE Who really changed things. Protip for a fellow data miner: on eve who, if a corp is closed and recreated, that new corp will take the place of the old on all links. This has several ramifications--a clever person can start a corp that includes whomever, then close it, start another with different people, effectively masking his history. There are other variations on this theme. You can work around this in a couple of ways. Use Chribba's EVE Global, it keeps old corps since it uses the corp ID. You can also compare tickers; those are picked up pretty quickly, so often the corp can't get the same ticker. Check alliance histories, if the corps have been in different alliances. Check the corp symbol. Of course characters can be recreated with the same name too. EVE Global is good for that too, since it tracks character IDs, not just names.

Have fun! I know I did.

I do appreciate the participation in this thread! I think some have assumed I spend a lot of time in researching, but as I stated, its a hobby and not one that I am particularly great at. I am wrong as much as I am right, considering that much of the answers are mere speculation that can't be 100% proven most of the time without information that only CCP and billing officials are privy to.

I also admire the ones of you willing to share your experiences with the enthusiast out there that seem to be a bit "spooky" in how much data they can collect. I agree that Eve Who and Eve-Live both have complete changed the playing field. What I find amusing is how many CEO's out there still do not use the tools to protect their Corporations. They live and they learn I guess!Cool

Got a recent eve-mail from someone today, I awoxed/war'd 3 of his corps to death recently. The eve-mail was long and he found all my throw away alts and linked them back to me. He even found some of my alts that do low pew. To him I said bravo, Made me think of this thread.

This all seems to me like the people who are subjected to my services get together like an FBI task force and try to build a case to find my null mains.

Love it.

Wanted to revisit this thread so that I may share a link that was shared in Dixie recently that relates very much to the topic here.

http://neworderspaiagency.blogspot.ca/2014/06/SpaiManual.html

This was a great read, and very informative. Hope that someone here might find use of it as well.
