Esc key not working in game

Hi All,

Please help with this. the key isn't broken. it seems to have stopped working after a recent batch of upgrades to windows 8.1.

-Running in safe mode doesn't help.
-Clearing cache etc doesn't help.
-Repair tool doesn't help.
-Upgraded video drivers do not help.

Anyone else have a similar issue?

There are apparently some known keyboard issues with Windows 8.1 - see http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-system/windows-81-keyboard-mouse-not-working/816a6e6d-3335-42a8-9626-2171bd9b6c68 for example.
