I think you're missing the point, Feathers. It's a matter of significant misrepresentation. Take Nauppy as an example. Imagine if he claimed to represent the Empire. Loud, relentless, utterly insane, completely off the mark on pretty much every subject. Letting something like that go unopposed would be out of the question.

Diana Kim is our Nauppy and she not only claims to be representative of Caldari and the State both, there's people who think that is actually the case. So there'll obviously be those who'll curb that sort of nonsense, and when you do it for long enough you're going to have to start adding a little humor before the brain melts under the constant barrage of nonsense.

It's like this, Anslo: Kim is an embarassment. She's a frakking disgrace, in fact. Her existence and status as a capsuleer represents a catastrophic failure of the meritocratic ideal that most Caldari fervently believe in. She's a walking encysted insult to everything the State was founded to stand for, an avatar of what we look like at our very worst. She is living proof that the State does produce anti-intellectual brainwashed xenophobes and hands them power.

Our people gave up a LOT to live according to an ideal of meritocracy, collective responsibility and Heiian. As far as I'm concerned a very, very important part of that is to pursue an ideal of both physical and, more importantly, mental excellence. As far as I'm concerned, the capacity for balanced, rational thought is a vital component of Heiian.

If you met somebody who claimed to be the very paragon of your most cherished ideals while they spit on them and tear them down, wouldn't you find it deeply, personally irritating? Even more so if that person then accused you of pointlessly-hated non-crimes simply for disagreeing with them?

Throw in the frustration that this person, being an Empyrean, is beyond your reach to do anything about, no matter how flexible or flimsy your ethics. You either abide by your moral code and have to watch helplessly as they keep on doing their thing, or else you step outside of your ethical boundaries, do something you find distasteful and still have to watch helplessly as they keep on doing their thing.

It's a no-win situation. The only solution that's even remotely appropriate is mockery and spite. It's not about bullying - it's about demonstrating that there are more sane and intelligent Caldari in the skies than there are Diana Kims.

My scorn will cease only when she is no longer behaving in a manner worthy of it. Until such time, I view it as my damn duty.

However, wasn't Cool Kids on the Block that attempt by NOH a few years back to try and market an all male Civire boy band to impressionable teenage girls in the Fed? Now that was hilarious. I still remember some of the Sociocrat leaning op-eds trying to explain that it was a blatant attempt at State cultural/psychological warfare against the Federation.

I guess where railguns can fail, shirtless Civire with muscled abs singing pop music is the way forward.
