We haven't had 50k in ages .. think it went below when the NeX ****-storm hit our shores and it never really recovered. Been fairly steady at just around 40-42k.

Question is if the changes made is enough to bring back the people who left and are just changing skills (like me), hoping for a better tomorrow .. in my opinion they haven't addressed the problems that would make people want to play, like sovereignty wars are still snooze fests with lots of inanimate EHP to grind.

They need to make Eve fun to make people want to play, not pretty!

yup, that'll be the trick.

Well time dilation is a big step towards making fleet fights more enjoyable... sovereignty wars will benefit a lot from it.

I really wish this industry was heading in a better director. With tablets becoming so powerful, laptops, and the gaming console becoming so popular I feel like the PC gaming world is starting to struggle.

Or am I misinterpreting that?

As far as industry goes, the real scary faces are within console makers. They lost the technology race with PC, failed to use online gaming and smartphones are cutting the grass under their feet.

That's a fallacy. The list you're referring to only lists PCUs which broke the previous record. The PCU has been higher than today's count many times, so referring to this as "the 9th PCU" is false.

What you could conclude from today's count is that CCP's misguided direction has thrown the game back three years in terms of users.

you make an excellent point and i retract that statement. and you're right about what you could conclude from today's count, but I think we both know that's incorrect. I think we both also know that having just broken the 50k mark is a pretty good sign?

50,001. An adorable number.

Last time was July 24, when it reached 51,048.

The Sunday PCU hit 56k during AT9, just before Incarna went live, and then sunk to 53k the first weekend, when the protests started. It then quickly sunk and hovered around 50k for about a month before taking a proper dive.

So yeah, welcome back 50k! We've missed you. Smile

Oh, and just to illustrate what just happened: ye olde PCU per week-day graph.

down to 49,894 - but, who cares, it's a sign that - good lord willing (and the creek don't rise) - CCP are recovering from their missteps.

You are factually right, the PCU measurements linked are peaks not all time top 10 pcu numbers. Your conclusion is interesting - reveals a level of bitterness that overrides all context. Your conclusion says more about you than the numbers.

Probably worth looking at the trends between January 2011 and now Roll

So this patch seems as popular as the Incarna expansion was.

Cool.

Well, let's see… Incarna made the Sunday PCU drop by 3,500; Crucible made the Sunday PCU increase by 7,500.

So no, that would make this one negative twice as popular. P
