Monday 15th April 2014

Lory was running his Rail Moa roam tonight, turnout was a little slow, started with about 12 and gradually grew to around 18 in fleet.

Initially we started with 2 Ospreys and 8 Moas with some tackle. We formed up on the Kourm gate in Huola and were still shaking out when a small neutral BC gang landed on the other side.

A neutral Naga suddenly appeared 15 kms off gate, initially we thought it was with the BC gang and had jumped in, but then realised it was going the other way and was autopiloting. We engaged and ganked it down, in the middle of this the other neutrals jumped in. The Myrmidon among them took a shot at the Naga to wh*re on and in the gate gun lottery game, he won.

We engaged the gang, killing the Exequror first, then the Myrmidon which was already halfway down, followed by the Prophecy and Drake. They had a Tristan with them too and it died to drones at some point too. It was not a challenging fight. We scooped the loot and discovered the Naga was being used as a transport and was full of skill books, ammunition, rigs and assorted modules.

We moved on, yo-yo'd back and forth in different directions looking for targets. Eventually we committed to chasing after a neutral cruiser gang in Gulmorgod and burned our way over. There was only 5 or 6 of them in gang and Lory clearly wasn't interested in another gank, but there was nothing else available. However as soon as we spiked into Amamake they scattered. We arrived in Gulmorogod and warped to the Egmar gate. Shortly after landing a neutral Astartes landed on us. We jumped with it and ganked it down on the other side. It was command link fitted and went down fast.

We roamed and found nothing, eventually coming back to the Kourm / Kamela / Lamaa area. Scouts identified two small frigate gangs, a Shadow Cartel gang in Tristans and Inquisitors and a Death By Design (and friends) gang in AFs. We reshipped into Tristans and Inquisitors ourselves and then rushed over to Kamela as the other two gangs clashed. We arrived and both gangs baled. SC left system, DBD moved to a small plex. We sent in half the fleet to try and get the fight and surprisingly they engaged. We bought the rest in and ganked down 5 AFs for the loss of a Navitas. There was some b*tching in local.

Lory stood the fleet down and most people logged. I decided to run a couple of plexes in Kourm before binning it. I ended up running 5, soloing a Firetail in my Breacher and skirmishing with a couple of others. Three other people eventually joined me as a number of neutrals appeared and we ganked a few of them down.

Ended the night 17 kills for no loss. Which sounds better than it was, quite a boring night to be frank.

I know I've been neglecting this thread! Weekly round up then.

Memorable events from last week. Mostly skirmishing, I did run one small frigate gang. We were all in Navitas, 8 of us, 2 in Logi and 6 in gunships for a lol. We were only out for about 20 minutes, but believe it or not we took down an Abaddon that was soloing about, next we killed a blingy Hookbill which dropped a Caldari Navy Ballistic Control.

I took part in a Blops drop to kill a Loki. A T3 gate camp had been spotted, it had a Loki and a Proteus plus reps. Mickey Nox ran the op, he decided we didn't have time to burn down the reps before they deaggressed and jumped away. So he put one of us in a Falcon to jam out the reps while we burned down the Loki. Worked perfectly. I took a Hound and managed top player DPS, but second to the gate guns. It was a real blingy fit with 2 faction webs, faction scram and gyrostabalizer, + 2 faction hardeners. Loot fairy was terrible though, only given up a single True Sansha Kinetic Hardener (7M)

Shortly after that we found a Charon on the Kourm gate in Huola. Someone convo'd the pilot later and he said he was on his way to Jita and hadn't realised he had jumped into low sec. Lol. He managed to jump to Kourm but someone caught and held him until we had deaggressed and jumped through. He dropped the only cargo he was carrying, a single cheap skillbook.

I lost a crow and empty pod trying to run the Guristas Epic Arc. I reshipped into a second crow, but lost that on the way back to possibly the same T3 camp that was the subject of the Blops drop later. I lost an Augoror in an easy cruiser fight after telling my repping buddy to bait rep me and then he burnt his reps out trying to catch me too late. We still won the fight. I blamed Zen for losing me a Thrasher after he dropped fleet boss on me in the middle of a solo fight against a Tristan. This well confused me as the dialog box to replace the fleet ad popped up. But I made plenty of mistakes myself and later apologised to him. I lost 8 Breachers to various skirmishes, some unnecessarily.

I got a very satisfying Catalyst kill. I was attempting to run a plex in Kourm and had my cloaky alt eyes on the outside of the plex. A small pirate gang, about 6 of them, were trying to gank me and I kept warping to a station and docking up. As I watched with my alt, a fight broke out on the gate between them in a variety of Frigates, Dessies, Cruisers and even a Tornado against two neutrals in an Arbitrator and a Scythe Fleet Issue. They killed the Arbitrator, but the Scythe Fleet Issue gave them the run around killing some of the smaller stuff and kiting them away. The pirates kept reshipping into larger stuff and then one came back in a Catalyst with no prop mod. It landed on the gate well away from the fight. I saw my opportunity, reshipped into a Caracal, warped in, popped it and warped out.

The second Frigate of the Fortnight event (Punisher) came to an end. It wasn't as well attended as the Slicer, 13 people took part, I just scraped into positive isk efficiency figures with 2 kills and 1 loss. But of the other 12 only 3 managed positive results and it really boiled down to a contest between Zen and Destru. Overall though results were good. 1.8B of 'solo' kills (+50% of the damage to qualify) for 714M Punisher losses. The next frigate is a much better solo ship and I'm looking forward to this one, but all I've managed so far is one loss with it.

Ended the week 82 kills for 14 losses.

Thursday 24th April 2014

Lory was running his Rail Moa gang. Warzone was pretty dead, but then about 20 minutes in, scouts spotted a neutral cruiser gang in Frerstorn. About 24 of them predominately in Thoraxes with Shield logi. We had 17 in fleet of which 11 were in dps Cruisers (mostly Moas), 3 Logi and 3 tackle. We arrived in Frerstorn but couldn't initially find them, jumped into Ardar and reapproached. Shortly they landed on the other side, put their boosts in then jumped into us. We slaughtered them taking down 10 cruisers without loss, before the rest baled.

We moved on and ganked a couple more things then sighted a small gang belonging to Matari Exodus consisting of 3 Nighthawks, 2 Sleipnirs, a Lachesis and a Scimitar.

Weazl joined us, but we kept them back while we made first contact. The fight went down on the Auga gate in Amamake, but this time it was us that got slaughtered. We lost 5 Moas, 2 Osprey and a Scythe. Weazls possibly lost additional, but they fed in just as the bale was being called, so may have escaped.

We had initially primaried the Scimitar, but this proved to be pure bait and their reps were in fact coming from spider tanking. Good use of damps and ECM drones screwed up our logi and it all came apart after that.

Ended the night 14 kills for 1 loss (Moa)

Friday 25th April 2014

The Frigate of the Fortnight is the Kestrel. I expected this to be a good ship for me, but almost a week in and all I've managed is 1 kill for 2 Kestrel losses. For those unfamiliar, the competition requires you to do over 50% of the damage with the specified ship (Kestrel) for the kill to qualify, with addition prizes for goliath kills (Dessies or larger), best K-D ratio, best Isk Kill and others.

So anyway I dedided to make a serious attempt at this competition on Friday night. It started well, I undock to find a WT Hookbill sat 130Km off station. I burn out and kill him stupidly easy.

A few minutes later I'm in a plex in Huola when an Enyo and Stabber come in. I tackle the Enyo and thread my way around the stabber. To be honest I primary the wrong thing, the Enyo. Wrong because the only thing that can hit me are the drones from the Stabber and I work my way through most of my cap charges struggling to tank them. A friendly Kestrel and Sentinel respond to my calls for help. The friendly Kestrel dies. The Sentinel primaries the Stabber, I finally realise my mistake and switch fire. We kill the stabber and then finish off the Enyo (71.7% damage).

A group fight in another plex sees several of us fire at a Condor and to my surprise I find I managed 52% of the damage with just one salvo. But right after that we engage another group on the Kourm gate in Huola and I'm certain I've made a qualifying kill on another Enyo, but then the KM shows me as top damage with just 48.21%. Carma.

The evening wears on, a series of small group fights in Kourm see me clock up another load of qualifying kills, but I lose 4 Kestrels doing it. Then a fight with Fweddit beckons in Huola. I get people into cruisers. Fweddit are spread between a large and medium plex, we rush the large but they bale and ball up in the medium. We arrive on the gate, but they have reps and a blackbird, are about 10 strong while we are just seven. I call blue balls and return to station where I reship into a Kestrel and undock. I'm intending to go back to Kourm, but then someone reports that a single Fweddit Rupture had returned to the large plex. I warp in and tackle it, call the rest of the guys in, telling them to return in the same ships as before. They and the rest of Fweddit feed into the fight. It is chaotic. I call primary repeatedly, without effect. Everyone is so scattered. Their blackbird has to die I keep telling them, I burn out twice to it, get jammed out both times but each time the blackbird is forced off field. A Fweddit Condor grabs me on one pass and I kill it (100% damage). Next priority I tell people is the Exequror. It goes down painfully slowly and the reason shows on the killmail. With a Kestrel I managed 85.22% of the damage. After that it is fairly routine to mop them up. We kill 2 Ruptures, an SFI and a Hawk, possibly others, in addition to the Condor and Exequror, for the loss of an SFI and Belacose.

It is late and I should really have binned it, but I keep playing solo in plexes in Huola and Kourm and a string of solo fights or 1 v 2 are had. The night ends on a downer though, I'm coming back to Huola top station and notice a neutral noobship cyno on the undock. That will qualify I think, dock, undock on top of it, shoot and bale, drop dock gun aggro, return and kill him. If I'd just left it there, but I just automatically went for the pod. Killed it, then too late realised that the dock guns had re-aggroed on me. I pop, losing a Kestrel for an empty cyno pod. Still at least it won't show on the killboard I think - NPC kill. But when I check my loss mail, I find that the last two people I engaged are both on it. I won both fights, but both broke my point range and baled in low armor/structure. What an idiot, now it looks like they beat me. lol.

Ended the night 32 kills (22 qualifying kills) for 5 Kestrel losses.

Saturday 26th April 2014

I was out most of the day and nearly didn't play Eve, returning late and I was tired after staying up late the previous night. However, I log on to check for new recruits and a bit of admin and sure enough I decide to take out a Kestrel and run a plex in Kourm. 0.7% contested, one plex will bring it back to stable.

I land on a small plex gate in Kourm and find a neutral Algos there, I burn to range and try to get point, but he activates and goes into the plex. There are a couple of others ships already inside. I dither, then notice a Thrasher coming in on short scan. It lands, I tackle and start killing it. A Corax land and hits me hard with his first salvo. I burn away from the Corax while trying to keep point on the Thrasher. The Corax burns the opposite way for some reason and doesn't hit me again. I kill the thrasher and burn back for the Corax. 2 friendlies land a Kestrel and Atron, but also another neutral Algos, possibly the first one I'd tried to engage. We burn down both and to my delight, I get top damage on each, both over 50%.

After scooping the loot, docking and repairing heat damage. I start running a medium plex. A Thrasher and Dragoon land outside. I wait, the Thrasher comes in and I tackle it, it is Arty fit and I take heavy damage initially, I pull out to an orbit of 22Km and damage falls off. The Dragoon finally comes in, but he lands as the Thrasher is in deep structure. The Thrasher pops and I switch to the Dragoon, kill and pod him. 5 qualifying Goliath kills and a pod in just 20 minutes. I finish the plex and call it a night shortly after.

Sunday 27th April 2014

A day of small ship skirmishing. I was almost exclusively in a Kestrel trying to consolidate my lead in the FotF competition.

I got on a little before downtime and sighted 2 WTs, an Inquisitor and a Tormentor in a novice plex in Huola. I crashed through them at the warp in, got to range and started taking down the Inquisitor. He had a local armor repper and it took a while, but eventually I was a salvo away from killing him. I switched my orbit to the Tormentor that was ABing around trying to catch me. The last salvo landed on the Inquisitor and removed the last of his structure except he didn't pop, the tiniest sliver of structure was left. Then he was out of point range and out of the plex. I could have kicked myself, but I got point on the Tormenter and started taking it down.

However, I picked up the Inquisitor on short scan coming back. I overheated my missiles, the Inquisitor landed in the plex, but too late to save the Tormentor, it popped and then I switched point back to the Inquisitor. He had repped up the armor and a bit of shield had regenned. I hovered the pointer over his structure - 1% remained. This time I took him down much faster, he had an AAR and must have still been in the reload cycle.

I returned to Eve in the Evening. There were around 8 or 9 people loosly skirmishing around. I got them organised into one fleet and we came together for a few fights against a similar sized Amarr gang. A few times larger neutral gangs got involved and some of these we engaged. Generally good fun, but nothing outstanding.

The final engagement of the evening saw me switch into a Heretic to engage a Sentinel in a plex in Huola. Frankly Sentinels are way OP in my opinion. There isn't a single frigate that has a chance against them 1v1 and only some missile boats among the larger ships. Even then it is difficult to keep them pointed. In short I have no qualms about pulling out a Heretic when a Sentinel turns up. It took 4 or 5 salvos to kill him, but I still lost point near the end and he could have got out if he had been more switched on. Although if the latter, he wouldn't have taken the fight in the first place.

Ended the day 27 Kills for 3 Kestrel losses, but sadly although most of the kills were done in a Kestrel, only 3 qualified as competition kills.

Wednesday 30th April 2014

I log on with 6 hours of the month remaining and 96 pure solo kills under my belt according to the Iron Oxide Killboard. I make it my mission to crack 100 solo kills in a month for the first time. As we are still in the second week of Kestrel FotF I spend the evening in this ship.

I start in a Novice plex in Kourm and within 5 minutes a neutral Rifter comes in, I kill and pod him, boths kills count as solo. Great start, 2 remaining.

I join a mixed Iron Oxide / Weazl fleet to take a cruiser fight in a medium plex in Kourm. I get on 6 cruiser kills, but all shared.

Back in the plexes I see a WT Kestrel land outside my plex through the eyes of my neutral cyno alt cloaked up in an Executioner 200kms off the gate. The Kestrel thinks better of it and warps off to a nearby small plex. I see him go and follow with Trant, land on the gate, activate and catch him on the inside, again I kill and pod him. However, when I look at the KMs, only the pod was solo, the plex NPC had wh*red on the ship kill. Still one kill needed.

The wreak had a cloak inside, too big for me to carry, I warp to the station with the rest of the loot and unload my spare cap charges to make room. However, when I get back I find a WT Tormentor in the plex. I crash through the warp in, get to range and kite him to death. The pod gets out and when I examine the KM the same NPC had wh*red on. Doh!

I secure the loot, pick up my spare cap charges and head out to do some offensive plexes in Amarr systems where the NPCs would only shoot me. After travelling through Kamela and Sosala, I find a neutral Atron in a novice plex in Anka. He is at about 30 Kms range when I land, I attempt to set a kiting orbit, then realise he is faster than me. I hit him with a couple of salvos, but he burns away until I lose lock.

I turn back towards the warp in, intending to run the plex down if he didn't come back in range, he warps out instead. I start the repair of heat damage to my MWD, but I have to cancel this as a neutral Executioner lands at the warp in. I'm surprised as I had my alt outside and hadn't noticed the Executioner land on the gate. However, I get into a kiting orbit and start taking him down. He has an SAAR and holds the damage for a while, but I'm confident I'll take him down once he hits the reload cycle.

A Merlin, Firetail and Incursus all come in. Again I'm surprised not to have noticed them with my alt, only later do I realise that I've got my alt cloaked up off the wrong plex.

Now things are a bit tough, I assume they are together and I ought to bale, but I really want my 100th kill and decide to tough it out, losing the Kestrel if necessary to secure the kill. So I try to thread my way around them. The executioner is hard to kill but eventually he goes down, by this time it is obvious the other three aren't too good at this. I switch point to the Merlin and kill it while the other two bale.

I'm chuffed, definitely got my 100th I'm thinking, then notice the Executioner pilot b*tching about blobs in local. I check my KMs and realise I haven't got the Executioner kill, I then check the Merlin KM and find the Executioner had fired on it. Neither counted as solo.

After repping up and dropping loot I return to Anka and start chasing around the plexes after two solo WTs one of which is in a Merlin. The same Executioner pilot returns in a new Executioner and the both of us are bouncing around trying to catch one another, or one of other two, but always landing at different ranges.

The Merlin lands on one plex at zero, the one I had my alt cloaked up off. The Executioner lands at 100. I warp Trant to zero, but the Merlin warps to another plex. I warp after it and find myself in the same warp tunnel with the Executioner. We land at zero and tackle each other. The Merlin lands at range.

Once again the Executioner is really tough, but this time he has caught me. He has a long point and web and holds me down, my damage climbs faster than his. I overheat my missiles and ASB, but it is looking grim. To make matters worse a second WT lands at range and they both start burning in.

As I hit structure, I align out and start spamming warp. The Executioner pops, I go to warp with my ASB flashing in the reload cycle and 28% structure remaining. I then discover that my missile launchers had all burnt out with the final salvo. I check the KM, solo! What a great 100th.

End of month round up: 461 kills (100 solo and 204 top damage) for 51 losses.

The Minmatar have hit Tier 4 and I run a circuit of missions (15) on Friday night which net me around 1.2M LP and 50M Isk, it takes around 2.5 hours. I run another circuit on Saturday and plan to do another couple over the bank holiday weekend.

However, I've made a real rod for my own back with FotF (Frigate of the Fortnight - Kestrel), after going well ahead the previous weekend I find my lead cut drastically by Destru Kaneda. Thus I take to the Kestrel to secure my win on Sunday. I don't have a good day. I manage 16 kills but lose 8 Kestrels and a noobship in the process. Only 4 of the kills count as competition kills too. However, I do end the competition winning most kills, most Goliath kills and most losses which nets me 220M Isk. I lost 20 Kestrels throughout the fortnight costing me 240M Isk. I carried off a load of loot and earned LP and bounties too, so would have been well up. However, that Sunday did it for me, I'm not going to get as competitive as that again. Famous last words.

So on Monday afternoon I ignore the new FotF and it's quite a relief to return to what I want to fly, I choose a Breacher. A small group of us are loosely running plexes around the Kourm / Huola area including Lory. I catch a Thrasher in a Huola medium plex, crash through the warp in and start kiting him to death. I stay silent on comms, but Lory rolls up in a Vagabond and wh*res on with 21% of the damage. Next I catch a Punisher in a Novice. Again Lory rolls up, now in a Dramiel, but this time I pop the Punisher just as Lory lands in the plex (titter), we share the pod though. I then catch a fast Firetail and this time I cry for help as I'm struggling to hold onto him and break his tank. Lory and one other arrive, but we are so far off the warp in, they can't actually reach us. I get the firetail into half structure inbetween a reload cycle of his SAAB, but then I cap out, my MWD shuts down and he escapes. Of course, I need to relearn the Breacher, unlike the Kestrel, it isn't quite cap stable.

After a long break for some RL stuff, I return in the evening. I need to do some admin on my JF alt, I have a large courier package to run in from Amarr. But I decided to take the opportunity to deal with some big orders in Jita. I've been training leadership skills on the JF char and I'm now ready to go for a boosting ship. I did in fact have a loki, but you can only run 4 links at a time on this and the tank is non existant. So I've had orders up for 2 Claymores and 2 Astartes. Intending to put one of each in Huola and Kourmonen and use a covops to shuttle between the systems.

While I'm shuttling them around, I pick up 15 more missions with Trant. I jump the JF into Huola with the 4 command ships, 3 Wolves, 3 Cruors, 2 Purifiers and a Dramiel along with some mods and the courier contract. Then start running the missions. With 13 of them complete, Annah comes onto comms and starts organising a Sac/Guardian fleet to take on a neutral gang (U.C.F. Alliance) in a similar comp.

I burn back to Huola just in time and jump into a Sacrilege. We follow them towards Anka, reach Sosala as scouts report them coming back to the Sosala gate. They jump into us and seem to be taken completely by surprise finding us there - don't they use scouts, not even a plus one? They immediately crash back to gate and jump back to Anka, but lose 2 Sacrileges doing this.

We are aggressed and can't immediately follow, they bale to an Anka station. After a long pause we finally jump in and warp to the station. They initially engage us, surprisingly we take down a Guardian and then they warp off. After a bit of a chase around they warp back to the Sosala gate and jump out, we follow and find them setting up on the other side.

We finally get the fight we are looking for and I can't help but wonder what difference that Guardian and the 2 Sacrileges would have made, if they had scouted us out and taken the fight at full strength. It was still a tough logi stalemate for a long time, but we gradually worked our way through their softer stuff, most notably a Falcon that was causing our Logi problems. We were outnumbered but all we lost was a Celestis. Eventually we killed a Curse, Munnin, 2 Onerios, Falcon, Rapier and Deimos, before they deaggressed and jumped away. Narrowly missed killing a Proteus and another Guardian, in the crawl back to the gate.

I return to normal ops and ran the last two missions, to make a total of 46 missions run over the long weekend which altogether netted around 3.7M LP. My intended final action of the night was to set up my new Claymores and Astartes, moving one of each to Kourm.

Then I had a chance to try out my new link man. 4 War Targets came into Huola local, I did a show info on them and identified that they were all in the same corp but 3 were under 3 months old, I took careful note as to which one was the older. Initially I couldn't find them, so I decided to warp to a novice plex in my Breacher, set up and see if they would find me, assuming they would be in Frigates. By chance they warped to the same plex at the same time and I landed on them. The 3 younger players were in Cormorants and the forth was in a Catalyst, none of which could enter the plex. I activated to escape. They moved to a small plex. I warped to range and found they had gone inside. So with a full set of Claymore boosts (Siege and Skirmish) running I decided to go in to them. They almost caught me on the warp in, but I managed to coast out of scram range and restart my MWD. However, they then baled before I could point one of them. Annoyingly the plex was capped, it must have only had a couple of minutes left on it.

...Continued from last.

They went to a medium plex and set up. Again I crashed the warp in and this time I got tackle on the Catalyst as they attempted to bale. The 3 Cormorants warped off before they could cancel. I started to take down the Catalyst, sure enough the 3 Cormorants reappeared on short scan. I overheated my missiles. The Cormorants came in, the Catalyst popped and I pointed one of the Cormorants. The other two Cormorants baled and I finished the final one to make 17 kills for no losses on the day. Most satisfying after the previous day.

Tuesday 6th May 2014

I start the day in a Breacher in a Novice plex in Huola. I'm doing a bit of admin at the same time, checking for new recruits, sending some mails and updating some forum posts. There were no War Targets in local, about 15 friendlies and 8 or 9 neutrals.

The first notice I get is when the lock alarm goes off. A neutral Slicer has entered my plex and engaged me. I belatedly start my MWD, lock him and set orbit. I'm going down fast though and start one of my ASBs. It takes the full 9 charges to bring me to good shield health after dipping to half armor at one point. I have to reset my orbit to 25Km to ease the damage, thankfully I had my Claymore boosts running and keep point. I run into cap difficulties though and point and MWD keep dropping towards the end, but after a few seconds each time I can restart them. The Slicer pops and then I pod him.

He convos me to ask how could I keep point on him at 30Km? I tell him boosts. He doesn't know what boost are, so I link the modules to him. Then he asks why did I pod him, which I think is hilarious. It seems he didn't think I'd be willing to take the sec hit for a pod. But I was already -9.84 and besides he fired first so I didn't take a hit for either the ship or pod.

Lory was running his Rail Moa comp starting at 7pm (Eve). He asked me to fly an Osprey and I took over as logi commander. However, I was also double boxing my cyno alt (having switched out my boosting/JF alt) scouting out targets and tbh it was a bit much and made for a rather stressful evening. I did locate a 'Royal Pirates' gang of Guards and Fleet Canes + other shinies. Lory brought the fleet out to metro to engage them. We did briefly engage them on the Anher gate in Eviti, losing a Stiletto before we jumped away.

We set up on the other side expecting them to jump into us as they had the superior force. They sat on the other side for an age and then ran away. We started to move back to Huola, but bumped into a faction frigate gang coming the other way. They jumped into us, engaged and we took down 11 + 3 pods without loss.

Next a shiney SC gang were sighted and we raced to Aset to engage. It went down very fast, we jumped from Floreswin into Aset and warped to the Avenod gate but they jumped from Avenod into Aset and cross warped. We warped back to the Floreswin gate and both sides arrived somewhat strung out. Very quickly our DPS ramped up and we took down 2 Guards, an Ashimmu, Ishtar, Astartes, Navy Harbinger, Rapier and an Omen before the rest of them baled. We lost another Stilleto at some point but I'm not sure if it went down in the main battle or in a side show while in transit. We scooped the loot and quickly ran away, expecting a bigger response, one we wouldn't be able to handle.

Unfortunately as all targets engaged were Neutrals, my drones wouldn't assist and I missed a lot of the kills. Ended the night 12 kills for no loss.

Weekend has been absolutely hectic. Targets were just queuing up in Kourmonen, fought some great one vs multiples, fought some great small gang fights. Ended the weekend around 60 kills for 3 Breacher losses.

But enough from me. Let hear what our enemies say about us on a recent Mittani article, explaining why with just two systems left in Minmatar hands the Amarr didn't press the offensive against Huola last March/April.

Been off work for a few days ill and I was so bad I couldn't even play Eve.

Came back to Eve on Friday for a brief look and do some quick admin. Kourm had been plexed up to 23.3% and I posted a warning on the forums. Response was great, when I logged on after DT, it was already down to 18%. I formed a loose fleet and happily plexed / PvPed most of the afternoon and evening with some long breaks. Before the day was over we got Kourm back to stable.

Some great little skirmish fights in small gangs, but my favourite was a 1 v 2 x 2 that I fought. I was in a small plex in a Breacher when a load of stuff arrived on short scan. I pulled to range and then a neutral Talwar and WT Corax came in. There were 2 or 3 frigates and a couple of Thrashers still on short scan and I hesitated to engage, stayed at +100 instead. They made no move to come out to me and I could see the plex clock running back the other way. Which bloody irritated me because we were only one plex away from stable at that point.

The composition of the short scan people kept changing implying they were fighting. I decided to go for it. I burned in and engaged the WT Corax first, then changed my mind and decided the Talwar would most likely be an easier target so switched. I did have my Claymore boosts running. Both Dessies were Rocket fit and couldn't hit me. I was orbiting the Talwar at 17 kms and just having to adjust to avoid the Corax. I was doing pretty well and then screwed up. The Corax got me scramed. Both closed in, 14 Rocket Launchers were now hitting me and I'd lost my drones by this time. I thought I was a gonner, but there was a chance I could take the Talwar down before I popped and I overheated my missiles. The Talwar popped, incoming damage halved and suddenly I was tanking the damage with my ASBs. I overheated for each cycle of my ASBs one cycle at a time, before per heating and going again. I knew I was going to make it when my first ASB completed it's reload cycle while I still had a charge left in the second. It must have been soul destroying for the Corax pilot. Towards the end he tried to burn away, but I stuck to him. He popped and I started scooping the loot.

Two Thrashers suddenly entered the plex. My ASBs had reloaded, but I only had 6 spare charges left. My drones were gone by then. I had heat damage to my missile launchers, both ASBs and I was carrying armor damage. Still went for it. Got in orbit around one of them and started threading my way around the other. After a while the second pilot named Chris something, dropped well back, 80 Km or more, I couldn't understand why, the first should have kept his pal in close contact. Chris finally warped out and I finished the first Thrasher off. After he popped I saw that the wreak was named "F*ck you Chris". I assume he changed the ship name just before he died. LOL.

I was just about to log when I saw that Lory was on line and PM'd him to speak about a couple of things. He then told me that he had an Incursus tackled in Lamaa and couldn't break it's tank. He'd been going for over 10 minutes. I burned over and joined in the fight. But even the two of us couldn't break his tank. Eventually, Destru turned up in a Slicer. By then we were something like 1200 Kms off the warp in. Destru started to burn out to us and managed to burn out his MWD. So he had to go to station and rep. When he got back we were at 1500 Kms and still going. Oddest thing happened. As he burned for us, Destru went off grid. Yet the rest of us stayed on grid with the button and warp in beacon. Destru reappeared 300 Kms off, burned in the rest of the way and finally we took the guy down. He was cookie cutter dual rep fit (one SAAR) with repping rigs and small cap booster. He had one Navy Cap Booster 400 left and no paste and had taken over 70K of damage. The fight had lasted over an hour from Lory first engaging.

Ended the day 20 kills for no loss.

Ok there has been a slight hiccup in the recruitment process in that CTRL-Q is currently 'full up'.

CTRL-Q was about 60 strong before the Amalgamation with Oxide Nation and Penguins at the start of the year. That took us to about 85 strong, but then we purged a dozen inactives. Since then there has been a gradual increase in membership. Currently we have 12 people on trial, which has been pretty consistent since January. Usually about 40% of them I end up booting, there has been a little natural wastage, but generally we have been gaining around 6-7 people per month and have now hit 101 members. I'm not quite sure how it works, must be CEO + 100 was our limit.

Anyway S5family, the CEO is currently training Corporation Management V, to allow him to then train Megacorp Management, which adds 100 people per level. That ought to hold us for a while. But it is going to take him about 5 days before he can update the corporation and we can start accepting new applications again. Sorry about that.

I've been ill for the last week and although I've played a little bit most days, it was very poor play and I threw away a few ships unnecessarily.

Friday 23rd May 2014 was the first time I felt well enough to play properly. The first thing I notice is that Kourm is at 34.7% contested. That is 52 plexes. So I form a fleet, name it Kourm Fleet and that is all it really took, 7 or 8 people joined the fleet and we had a relaxed night of deplexing, small gang PvP. Some great little fights, my favourite was the final one of the night.

By then only Savesti Kyrsst and myself were left. Drunk chaos turned up at a small plex and ran me out. There were 4 of them, in an Ishkur, Punisher, Dramiel and Tristan. Savesti and myself decided to go for it in a pair of Algos. The Punisher was missing when we first warped in. The Dramiel and Tristan were at range so we primaried the Ishkur. The Ishkur was going down, but so was Savesti. It was looking like we were going to lose both Algos for the Ishkur. The Punisher came into the plex. The Ishkur popped and I immediately got the Punisher webbed and scrammed. Savesti popped, but then a friendly Tristan warped in. The Punisher popped and then I saw that the Dramiel had come into scram range. Immediately webbed and scrammed him and took him down in about 15 seconds. The tide had clearly turned, but I was dipping into structure. However, I wasn't pointed, the Tristan was trying to pull range. I warped out. Savesti came back in a comet and between them they killed the final Tristan. Ended the night 22 Kills for 1 loss and Kourm was on 20% contested.

Saturday 24th May 2014 was much of the same thing, except with some big kills. Like the previous day I spent most of it in a Breacher, started by sharing a Daredevil kill. Next I landed on and tackled a Brutix off a plex gate in Huola, 7 other pilots responded to my call and we killed it with ease. We fought an AF gang in a Huola small plex at one point. There were 5 of them, eventually about 7 of us, but we feeded in a bit piecemeal and really should have lost more than we did, but they scattered and a series of ineffective 1 v 1 tussels were had as our spare DPS arrived and gradually wore them down. First we killed a Sentinel, then an Ishtar. I then followed out a Hawk while everyone else went for a Retribution. I was kiting him and he couldn't hit me. To make matters worst for him a Griffin came to my assistance and presumably jammed him to boot. Eventually he popped and then I caught his pod - 400M. At that point I was 400Km off the Retribution and he popped before I could reach him. We lost a single T1 Frigate.

After a series of skirmishes in Kourmonen, I returned to Huola to replenish ammo and was just undocking when someone reported a Huggin sniping 100 Km off a plex gate in Huola, directly in line with top station. The same station I was undocking from. I warped over, landed 20kms off and tackled him. Very rapidly others arrived and we killed him. He dropped two Republic Fleet Gyrostabizers which went straight into the corp hanger for Logi replacements. I went back to station and undocked a salvaging Catalyst and returned to salvage the wreak. As I was landing outside the plex, the Huggin pilot undocked in a Sleipnir and aggressed someone on the undock. Other people undocked various stuff including a couple of Typhoons. Just as I landed back on station the Sleipnir popped. Curious thing though, 5 people were on the Killmail and I was one of them in my Salvaging Catalyst having done 0% damage with a Warrior II. The wreak dropped another Republic Fleet Gyrostabizer which joined the other two, 165M between them.

There then occurred the most entertaining fight off a small plex in Kourm. It was a long drawn out fight over wreaks earlier in the fight. We would kill one small gang, start looting the wreaks, warp to station drop loot, warp back and find another gang on the gate, kill them, start looting, rinse repeat. By the time it was all over there must have been 30 wreaks on the gate which included a couple of BCs and a load of cruisers, while for our part there were 6 or 7 of us in Frigates apart from the two BC kills where fate pulled out a Hyperion. Ended the day 49 kills for 2 losses. Kourm was on 4% contested when I logged.

Monday 26th May 2014

Started the day running 9 TLF missions which brought in about 700K LP. Although I nearly forgot to hand them in as I was waiting for the Tier to bounce back up to 4.

After that I was running around with 5 or 6 others skirmishing away in various plexes across Huola, Kourmonen, Kamela and Dal. Some great little scraps, ended the day 25 kills for 4 losses.

Lory was running an advertised Vagabond roam tonight. It started at 1900hrs (Eve), but I was late online and didn't arrive until 2000. The fleet was just returning to Kourm and I was able to join them just in time to be told to ship down to AFs so we could go after some WTs in a small in Kamela.

I reshipped into a Hawk, but the WTs ran before we could tackle them. I volunteered to start running the plex back while everyone else vacated the system. Kamela had been flipped to the Minmatar about a week ago, much to mine and Lory's disgust. We had been telling people to stop flipping systems, Kamela in particular as we had more than enough to maintain Tier 4 and continuing to flip systems only killed the pew. Thus we had passed an order not to actively deplex Kamela except for the purposes of getting fights.

Kamela was already sitting at over 90% contested and the small was showing 25 minutes on the timer to us. The Amarr gang were bound to come back. However, Lory got distracted by a report of an Amarr cruiser gang in Tzvi. He had already tried to engage them earlier and they had just run. I could hear the doubt in his voice, but he ordered the fleet into Lamaa to the Tzvi gate.

Almost immediately the Amarr arrived outside my plex in a Tristan, 2 Comets and 2 Condors. I reported this, but had no choice other than to run. Lory brought the fleet back and Bengal (in a Breacher) and I went back in. Bengal tackled a Comet, I tackled the Tristan and called the fleet in. However, before they arrived I was neuted flat and my point dropped. The Amarr baled leaving just the Comet that Bengal had tackled, but it was MWD fit and had gone to range, presently it broke out of Bengal's point range and escaped. Most disappointing.

We were getting frustrated. Reports of the Tzvi cruiser gang were still coming in. Lory took the fleet back to Lamaa but gave people permission to roam free if they wanted. Gordon Brott and I remained in Kamela bouncing around the plexes. In short order I landed on 3 neutral Thoraxs outside a small plex. I called in the fleet and got tackle on one of them. Gordon arrived and got tackle on another. However a forth Thorax warped in and I was primaried, webbed and scrammed. I had 2 ASBs and I think I just about used up all the charges running both simultaneously, before I popped. The fleet were just arriving as I warped my pod out and presently all 4 Thoraxs went down. A good exchange, but I wasn't pleased with my performance.

I reshipped into a Breacher and returned to Kamela to mop up. However, it was all over by the time I arrived. Lory decided it was time to put it away and we warped to the Kourm gate, intending to go home. An Amarr Cruiser gang landed on the Kourm gate with us and we finally got a decent fight. 6 Amarr Cruisers went down, then an independent pirate in a Rupture tried to gank me down a little off the gate as I was looting. I got tackle on him and tanked the damage while the rest of the fleet burned out to us. Very satisfying kill and I managed both top damage and final blow.

We continued on to Huola only to find a Fweddit fleet in a small plex. There were about 15 of them mostly in Dragoons. Our fleet had started to disband, but we pulled together similar numbers and went in. Another great punch up and we slaughtered them. We lost a single Talwar and took down at least 11 of them.

The fleet disbanded and most people logged or went /afk. However, about 5 minutes later I noticed 3 WTs in system. I called to find out who were still active and warped to the same small plex where the Fweddit fight had occurred. It was out of scan range of the stations and only had a few minutes left. Sure enough I landed on a WT Tormentor and picked up two Coercers inside the plex. I called for help, then killed the Tormentor. Help arrived in time to wh*re on the pod, then we activated the gate. Four of us were there by then, the Coercers tried to bale, we caught one, killed and podded it. All three had been in the same corp, both kills were only partially fit, missing both modules and rigs. I probably could have soloed all three and suspect they might have been a single player multiboxing. Moments later we killed a Dreddit Harpy in the static plex in Huola.

I got into a Cheetah and scanned down a Ded 3/10 combat site in Huola, ran it in a Caracal in about 10 minutes and picked up about 30M in faction/deadspace loot, then called it a night. Ended the night 24 kills for 1 loss, all those kills occurred within a 42 minute period.

Wednesday 28th May 2014

Zen was running an advertised Tristan/Inquisitor gang tonight. I came on a bit early and started the fleet up ready for him. Shortly I notice 4 WT AFs in a small plex in Kourm. I posted in corp telling people to get in fleet and comms and come and back me up. About 8 people joined fleet, but they are scattered and some are going to take a minute or two to arrive. Worried that too many would turn up at once and scare off the targets, I activate gate and go in. The WTs are in 2 Vengeance and 2 Retribution. I crash to range and then tackle one.

A couple of fleet mates arrive and I tell them to spread points. But I'm not paying attention to my position and get myself webbed and scrammed. I fire up both ASB but they only hold as long as it takes to burn through the charges. My Breacher goes down as does a friendly Tristan and Firetail, but 3 of the AFs are killed and the last one runs.

Zen is online and takes over the fleet and I reship into a Tristan. We start out and sight a Shadow Cartel Cruiser fleet, trying to bait in Kourm. Their comp isn't right and we suspect they have more hidden. So Zen ignores them and we head off towards Sosala, then Anka. A neutral gang or cruisers and BCs, follows behind us, again too big and blingy for our comp and we initially ignore them.

However, Weazls arrive in an Armor Cruiser gang with Logi and engage them on the Sosala gate in Kamela. We rush back and land on the opposite side of the gate. Then after a moment we jump in, only to see them cross jump us. They were deaggressed and had eyes on us. However, we weren't aggressed ourselves, so we jump back hoping to catch a few before they warp off. Instead we find them setting up. We break and engage, expecting Weazls to jump in as soon as their aggression is down. However, Weazls aren't on comms with us and frustratingly they have their own TS server when they are not working with us, which makes switching to their channel difficult. There is confusion as to whether they are going to jump in or not. Eventually they do, but we had been slaughtered by then. At least Zen, Lory and Myself all die, the three target callers. We pod run our way back to Huola, but Zen has had enough and decides to bin it there.

Lory takes over and we go out in the same comp, this time I'm in an Inquisitor. We go back to Kamela as it is vulnerable and the Amarr are trying to flip it with Dragoons. We land, they scatter, we catch and kill two. But then a much bigger Amarr gang of cruisers 45+ strong are reported incoming. Presently we come across Weazls engaging them on the Kamela gate in Kourm. They are in a logi statemate, so we wade in, thinking we will be largely ignored but instead we're primaried and slaughtered again. 3rd loss of the night.

The Amarr deaggress and jumped to Kourm. We try to contact Annah to join Weazls fleet, but he is distracted or scenting blood and wants to do it with his own corp only. Eventually we ship into kiting cruisers and head off to third party the fight as Weazls jump into Kourm and re-engage the Amarr. We jump in and burn to range, kill a Falcon and a Rook. But the Weazls logi wing of 3 Guardians had gone down and the rest of them bale. Lory orders bale and we should have all got out, but once again I'd not paid attention to my position and got tackled just before I went to warp. Loss 4 was a Caracal.

I'd had enough and binned it for a couple of hours. Then rejoined a few guys skirmishing around. We engaged a very skillful solo player in Sieside, he was boosted and I suspected drugged up too. We managed to kill him in a Hookbill and then an SFI, but he took down several of our frigates during the fights and I lost another Breacher at that point.

Really crap night to be frank, 10 kills for 5 losses and I think my main problem is that I'm distracted by a big event I'm planning which is due in a few days.

Thursday 29th May 2014

Wasn't going to play tonight, but both my accounts needed a skill queue update and I logged on late to do that. Huola was stable, but two WTs were in local with similar names. A multi boxer I thought. I undock Trant in a Breacher and scan the plexes. A small is out of scan range, 3 others are in range but empty. I scan them a second time and this time pick up a Tristan at a Novice. Warp to it and find the Tristan is one of the WTs but he is outside the gate at range and warps off to a safe.

Again I scan the nearby plexes, nothing and these two guys are still in local. I finally warp to the small plex that I couldn't reach with the onboard scanner and find a Dragoon inside. I enter, find he is the other WT, crash to range, tackle and start kiting. Sure enough the Tristan appears on short scan and then comes in. The Dragoon is well tanked, but is slowly going down, I decide to stay on it, just need to worry about my position in relation to the Tristan. Then to my surprise the Tristan sticks a long point on me. This of course means that his other mids are likely Prop mod and cap booster (actually was a MWD and MSE). In short, no web or scram and no danger if I get too close to him. So I relax and leave my ship simply orbiting the Dragoon. Eventually it dies and I quickly switch my tackle and orbit to the Tristan and kill that too. I had expected the Tristan to bale once it was obvious he wasn't going to save the Dragoon but he stayed in. I then expected him to slingshot he way to range having a MWD, but he didn't even seem to attempt it. Two easy kills. I dock up and log after spending no more than 10 minutes in game.
