Seriously, why should HS relic and data sites be worth anything? They are completely riskless. Since eve is supposed to be risk v. reward and HS relic and data sites are completely riskless, it is totally appropriate that they are worth next to nothing.

Please re-read what Nami said. The relic vs data site payout isn't balanced with each other. Don't make this a sec vs sec thing.

And i will NEVER stop reiterating on this, DATA sites will NEVER have the same value as relics unless CCP either:

A) Nerfs the value of relics to the point people would be better off mining veldspar
B) make interfaces a consumable, or at elast take unrepairable damage as they are used, that way there would be a reason to build DATA site blueprints and collect data site materials

Yeah maybe on a console action game.

The reason we're not playing a console action game is because we want to play an MMO that's not a console action game.

Kill the spew, in fact kill the bloody click fest that is basically a tablet game to get the spew as well, it never belonged in eve, they were just trying to follow the herd down the yellow brick road but CCP is visually inpaired and never noticed it was semi solid, brown and smelt.

OH and ffs bring back rats to sites, even better put them on a timer like Lesser sites as well

already dead, just haven´t fallen over yet....

No way. I've lost a buddy playing EVE because of that "interesting" mechanic. We was a group of 3 guys and did some data-site. As far I remember we looted everything and got less then 10k ISK. He said it was the most boring thing he did in his live ever and quit. If you get crap "the funny" way it could be pretty anoying. A few seconds afterwards (he left already) we got some kill in the same site from some one that tried to steal our "richness" of further dunno 1000 ISK :) - So in my opinion my buddy was wrong regarding EVE because the sandbox itself is still fun. But regarding that loot spew I could confirm that I think it pretty sucks.

People who are used to everything being handed to them should HTFU.

There was nothing functionally wrong with it. It was another cool idea that is getting destroyed via catering to the masses. What?

Well the whole point since the revamp of hacking, It doesn't matter if it's fun and fits into the common gameplay of EVE, it's all about loot now with all the crying over what can we get. As like in other mmo's people will grind things to death for loot or leveling, doesn't mean it's fun. For EVE, to me, having a battle ready hacking ship going into a hostile environment was fun, fighting rats and avoiding pirates through the systems. Hacking in itself was simple, but it had the EVE environment to make it interesting, kept me coming back, quite fun really.

Loot spew, mini-games, mostly defenseless pinata ships, how many of you would stick with it if it went back to being just a means to make some extra ISK as far as loot goes? CCP makes something new/different in the game (removing the old that no one complained about), turn it into a faucet gushing ISK for a while, call it a success because people will do it.. at least until it's nerfed and then mostly abandoned because it's not really fun. The existing fun-factor has shifted to just hunting explorers and smashing their pinata ships, more EVE like I guess. If I want to play a console game I'll buy a console.

I'm in it for the money

I like the meta games... but some people don't. I don't like auto anything(mining is not an auto task it just gives you breaks to check the stove between cycles)

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

I liked the loot spew for the fact that knowing what you're after and in what kind of can it comes could improve your loot dramaticly. It was flawed by the fact that this information wasn't available in-game though.

If this part could be preserved (and improved) somehow, it would be cool. If not, oh well.

Loot spew is not necessarily a bad idea, just implemented in the wrong places. Loot spew in hacking containers didn't make sense while there was no loot spew for blowing up a ship. You'd think violent ship death with the hull breaches and all that would have loot spew instead.

Imagine an officer ship loot spew? Imagine what that would do to nullsec ratting and officer spawns. Would we lose 30 percent of the modules? Would we be seeing 32 billion ISK machs?
The best ship fits for "I want the loot too" situations would be the in your face fits, like Gallente blaster boats - so it would be a game changer.

Loot spew should be a feature of "violent actions" like blowing up a ship or hitting a rock with a frikkin' mining laser.

But simply bypassing the lock on a door? It was not a good idea.

Very true.

The lack of interactivity in old exploration was fixed with the hacking game. That was the purpose of it.

The spew was supposed to encourage grouping, which it didn't. It in fact did the opposite (from an income perspective). IIRC nothing about it was supposed to be about increased complexity, in fact CCP data shows that it was optimised by the playerbase within 1 week of being released.

The problem was that to get scanning bonuses and combat bonuses onto one ship you needed a T3, which created a barrier to exploration to new players, who ended up never trying it at all, going into missions instead and made it a niche thing. Exploration arbs and vexors were a clumsy solution. The scanning frigates had no pve use at all unless you multiboxed, which is another barrier to new players (at least normal ones), or if you reshipped which kept you tied down to one area and defeating the meaning of exploitation, and worse, tied people down to empire.

The strange thing about this is that several fixes came out long after Odyssey being 1. the SoE ships (solved bonus problem) and 2. The Mobile Depot (solved reshipping problem). I'd say the depot is in fact the biggest buff to exploration (both the profession of exploration, and literally exploring space) and it wasn't even an Odyssey thing. With these two things rats in exploration sites don't pose the problems they did before. The SoE ships was the real strange one as it really was locking the stable door after the horse bolts, for k-space sites at least. They would have made perfect sense in pre odyssey exploration. I don't think rats will ever come back in k-space hacking, but there's a chance for deep exploration content in the future where stratios and nestor make more sense.

I like that i helps to have a more agile ship and have to prioritiez what you want and not just be given eveything automatically for beating the hacking game.

Who else will miss loot spew?

Loot spew sucks. Its not a compelling or gratifying mechanic given the other steps involved...allow me to elucidate...

1) Probe down a site
2) Watch local while hacking said site in losec/null so you don't get zapped
3) Hack the site, often having the juiciest/hardest sites explode in your face -- despite max skills, implants and rigs.
4) Having to abandon a hack when someone enters local and you cloak up to stay safe

Adding another pain point to the mix in the form of loot spew was big time excessive, at least for people actually running these sites outside hisec in low or null.

Removing spew doesn't go far enough, the number of antiviruses etc present in the tougher hacks triggering a detonation should be reduced/nerfed also; either that or instead of detonating a site in your face (through no 'failure' in your method, just a ton of antivirus hitting you), the site 'freezes' for 15 minutes or something.

It's the worst mechanic ever!!!

It's also one the reasons I stopped doing exploration when Odyssey launched and hence stopped playing the game.

I was considering sueing CCP for getting RSI for that stupid hacking game and that loot spew. Way to much clicking going on.

I am not gonna miss that silly loot spew mechanic for one bit. Now if we can get rid of that hacking game as well. :)

Honnestly i'll miss the loot spew because i became very good at it .But i think Devs can come with better and more fun mechanics, especiallly if they complexify the hacking game .

-It would be great if we could have the multicore system we discussed + a timer who would increase decrease with the numbers of movement u need to get ride of nodes .
-Making the containers unscannable is also an important move to avoid cherry picking .

We should be able to purchase a giant condom with ISK to contain all that spew.

It would solve a lot of problems and keep the galaxy looking clean and fresh.

I like the hacking. Loot spew not so much. I started playing after Oddysey so the only rats I have run into in data or relic sites are the drones at the abandoned drone sites that spawn when you fail to hack the container. I figured that someone forgot to take them out of the game.

That said, I would have never gotten into exploration as a new player if there had been really tough rats at the sites. I thought it was cool that a new player could take a frigate into null and make some serious ISK. If I had needed a T3 cruiser to do the sites with I would have probably quit after 3 months of playing due to having to do boring crap like mine or run combat sites to make ISK.

I wil miss loot spew, it was perhaps the only PVE thing in Eve you can do with as a two person team and fell like the other person contriuted in a meaning full way.
But It seems that instead of trying to make more PVE content for the sub 5 person group, CCP would rather cave in to the deamand of those hunteing for MAX/ISK pr hour.

CCP why don't ypu use some dev time on developing some propper PVE tools instead?
