Missions for Standing

As a fairly new player and after a few months of running Gallente missions I notice my standing with Caldari and Amarr going downhill quickly, so I started doing Caldari missions. I reject the ones that require me to fight Gallente and wait the 4 hours before attempting another.

Problem is that some missions have no way of knowing until it's too late that I'll be facing my own, which will reduce my Gallente standing. Not completing that mission reduces my standing with the Calderi agent, so it's a loose/loose.

Is it necessary to log out of the game and do the research before every mission to get the simple info as to whether I will need to fire on my own race?

If you hit alt-b there's a really cool in game browser for you Lol

I do know some missions do say who you will be fighting, but otherwise an out of game source is your best bet in making sure you don't take any faction standings hits.

Like Atomic said, the ingame browser is a great tool. Bookmark this http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports.

Afaik Ive always been able to decide what kind if mission it is, from the agent description. If u are unsure just have a look at the survival guide (have a look at the survival guide anyway for general intel)

If your faction standings a really really bad also have a look at this: https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Faction_Standing_Repair_Plan... Should be faster than grinding up to lvl 3-4s and then faction standing

Using the survival guides is a bit kludgy at first, but eventually you'll learn which missions need what kind of piloting and what damage types to tank against/deal. Keep a it and you'll do fine.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will up the Diplomacy and Connections. Good web sites although I avoid going into the browser since it causes fatal lag on my setup. Most missions do mention the enemy type somewhere, but the odd one doesn't and it would help if CCP threw a hint in those. I'll probably just skip anything that isn't clear, especially for the short L1s and 2s.

You are looking at the faction icon in the mission briefing, not just the text?

The other advanatage of EVE-Survival is it gives you information on item drops (like the silo in AE that occasionally drops a 30 mill implant) you may otherwise miss.

If you fight a faction, the faction's emblem shows up in your mission description right next to the encounter location. I think this works for everyone except rogue drones and generic mercs. What do you mean by "wait 4 hours"? If you decline one mission you just request another. You only have downtime if you receive a mission you don't like, inside that 4 hour period.

I imagine you already know that, but your wording suggests differently. Just had to be sure.

Yep, that's pretty much just what I do. You can even click on it and bring up info. Every mission seems to show faction, as easy as that.

Also, OP, find a station or system or adjoining system with more that one mission agent, you only need to wait the four hours for that particular agent. Usually you can get two or three within a couple jumps especially on lower level missions. lvl3's are the best to grind for standings, the fastest.

I'm in it for the money

If you missioning for standing you will want to use the mission guides till you get used to the missions, the simple reason is they tell you exactly what to destroy to complete the mission. You don't always have to kill everything.. and you never have to destroy turret\missile battries to get through gates or finish missions.

... What next ??

You'll also want to train up Social since that increases the amount of standing gained for completing missions.

As for having lag when you open the in-game browser, do it while docked with the mission still being 'Offered' from the agent. While reading the 'Mission Reports' make sure to view the Comments listed at the bottom of the Mission Report page. Then just minimize the in-game browser, undock and complete the mission.

Rinse & Repeat

Don't take missions v.s. other major factions!

PIrate, Mercs, Drones only.

Mission for all 4 major empires.

It shows in the mission if you're fighting another faction. Just look for the faction emblem. You can decline one mission every four hours from an agent. Use the mission finder to find a nearby agent if you get two in a row and have to wait.

Also look up missions on Eve Survival

Make sure you read the full details of a mission in EVE-Survival website. There are some faction missions you can do without losing standing. For instance, Deadly Arrival, in that mission you just have to fly to the ruins, wait for the mission complete message, then warp out. You do not even have to kill anything.

I suggest you run a browser window outside Eve, and Alt/Tab between the browser window and the game window (in windowed mode, not fullscreen, of course..)

Also, if a mission is versus a particular faction, it shows up as a very small icon in the mission briefing to the left of the location link : click it to enlarge
(if there is none, it won`t affect any faction)

Also consider doing the Sister's of Eve Arc every so often and taking the faction you are lowest in for the last mission.
