Yeah I know, I got destroyed at a gat camp last night on a mission that was in 0.4 Sad oh well.. Least it was only shuttle, i did loose all my implants though when he podded me.. Was actually a very well executed kill, but i thought you couldn't use bubbles in Low Sec? Or is Syndicate space special?

You can't use bubbles in lowsec.... You didn't get killed in lowsec.. You got killed in nullsec system 6-CZ49. It's always good to be aware of where you're at... Numbers and letters for a system name means nullsec...

It is... 0.0 or lower.. 6-CZ49 is a -0.2 <-- note the - sign in front of the 0.2

.01-.04 is lowsec

.05- 1.0 is highsec.

Just saw your MJD and drones questions..

I've never tried it staying still since I would align in the direction I wanted to go but I don't think it needs you to be going a certain speed.

It takes about ten seconds to spool up before you jump . This can be bad if you're taking a serious beating. Once that happens it jumps you 100km in the direction you were traveling. After that you have a two minute cooldown before you can use it again.

As for the drones you should always have five Hobgoblin II's (light drones). You can put two sentry drones as well but it's more trouble than it's worth on the Raven IMO... If you want to use drones get a ship that is better suited for that.

Sigh, wtf were you doing undocking in a Raven fit only with a shield booster? Ugh

It wasn't in lowsec... You really should fly cheaper ships till you get the very basics down. Something simple like knowing the difference between highsec, lowsec and nullsec can save you quite a few losses.

If you're dead-set on flying a Raven so soon, it would be a good idea to get the hang of it (and work out strategies based on its abilities) in PvE that is lower then Level 4s. Practice with it in Level 3s, for instance, but make sure you have *some* support skills for it. To be on the safe side, take advantage of its range. Keep it away from heavy fire, and whatever you do, don't get boxed in anywhere. Don't attempt to tank missions with it at this stage, just bombard from long range. Your range is a significant part of your tank. Missiles are long-range weapons; treat them as such and you'll have an easier time.

I suggest the judicious use of an MJD and an AB. And I'd rather you not undock at all without at least a T2 tank, but perhaps best-named will do. By the time I got a Raven I already had support skills trained up and could field a T2 tank, and with decent DPS.

Quite frankly, though, without sufficient support skills, your Raven won't even be as good as a Drake. It won't be able to tank nearly as well, and you won't be able to bring enough DPS to bear on targets. Its real strength is in offensive capability. Its gank is also its tank. And a 300-some-such DPS Raven just isn't worth using.

Hi Alexi,

I think what people are trying to tell you is the there is a progression to ships. This is evident in the training, you need Frigate 3 for Destroyer, Destroyer 3 for cruiser etc.

What I don't understand, and probably most of the people replying, is why you would benefit from not following that progression? Other than the main weapon system (Heavy Missiles for Cruisers and BCs) every other skill that helps your Cruiser helps your BS. So spend a few hours training Heavy Missiles to 3 or 4, jump in a Cruiser for a few hours and do some level 2s. Then jump in a BC and do level 3s while you finish training for the Raven..

The experience running level 3s will be very useful.

There are 2 types of skills, the ones you train in Eve and the skills at flying the ships. You won't get the second by sitting in a station, and it's better to get them in a 50mil ship than a 250mil ship, plus missions are designed to be most efficient in appropriate ships (2s in Cruisers and 3s in BCs)

Picking the goal (Golem) and aiming for it is fine, but you have already accepted that there is a step on the way (Raven) so why not add another couple of steps (Caracal & Drake).

CCP have put a lot of effort into balancing and tiericide recently which has made the progressions from level to another much more straight forward too, I did level 3s in a Ferox, with poor gunnery skills, while training missile skills for a Raven!
