I remember back when we didn't have one of these. In my day, we used to pop the cork out with this little metal device called a corkscrew. I could tell your horror stories about how difficult it was, but the truth is, the hardest part is finding the corkscrew.

I think the biggest advantage to the automatic pourer is that it gives you an excuse to strengthen your kids' arms and the second best thing about it is it never gets lost.
