Gate Guardians: Player In Game Channel in need of active pvpers

"Gate Guardians" is a public channel I created to share intel on active gate camps in lowsec in the hope that camps can be more easily identified and avoided. Formatting for how to post a report on a discovered gate camp is provided in MOTD. Channel members are encouraged in MOTD to always make use of http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/recent_activity.php and or http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map rather than relying on any lack of intel in GG as a sign that a system is safe. Additionally, members are encouraged to go on pvp roams through lowsec so that more intel may be discovered and shared. There will be a mailing list in the near future which will be linked in MOTD and will include some helpful links on methods for avoid/escaping gate camps, avoiding gangs, and general basic pvp information for any aspiring pvpers.

Currently, GG has a decent base of members in the channel, but lacks a sufficient number of active pvpers to have the constant flow of intel needed to make the channel a valuable resource for solo pvpers and small gangs. So this is a call for anyone who is active in pvp, but does not regularly gate camp. If you are in channel and are discovered to have a consistent gate camping, you will be banned in short order. Nothing personal, it's just how it needs to be in order to make the channel useful. =)

I'm afraid your second paragraph pretty much killed your channel to many of the guys that actually roam constantly. Most of us already have masses of intel channels we already update and entering one where the 'core' group of members aren't actually contributing is asking for charity.

You also have the problem that sometimes I do camp a gate, for specific people and gangs but it does happen. What i don't do is sit on one till I pass out drunk. What would happen say if I was camping the jel gate into egghelende because some defined targets were likely to come through and in the process blapped a guy in channel?

Finally, the flow of info on a channel covering all of low secs camps would be monstrous to actually filter for relevent info. I'm not sure of your experience but to get good cross region coverage of intel most pvpers want seperate channels to use when appropriate.

Good luck with the idea, if it manages to help a few people into realising that not every gate is camped and that actually it's not hard to avoid then you'll have done a good job whether you have intel or not.

In a nutshell, yes I am currently asking for charity assistance. I'm offering a 1mil reward for each gate camp report, but that's just a small pat on the back. Any active pvpers that do decide to join would be greatly appreciated. We also host public roams out of the channel, so there's another incentive to use it other than charity for pvpers. The channel is still in it's infancy and has a growing, but small member base, so each active pvper that joins and contributes will significantly help build it's effectiveness. I'm aiming to help out pvpers, but first I need their help to build a decent infrastructure for the channel's member base. =) Limited gate camping like you're describing is acceptable, so in your example you would be fine.

I think you bring up an excellent point about the scope of covering all of lowsec. I"ve thought about how massive a task that is, of course. I like your idea of focusing on a specific region. I think the channel will start with focusing on the Citadel region.

The main goal here is to be a resource to pvpers and to encourage small gangs and solo pvpers to get out there and join the fun. =)
