Coming back after a long hiatus, and i can see a lot of changes Shocked
I'm going to grind missions up for Minmatar missions (for LP offers)

What are the best ships for that in your opinion (starting at level on)? If you've got some killer setups, I'd like that as well - my head hurts from looking through stats :(

Cheers!

You should be thinking more in terms of what weapons to develop rather than particular ships.

Long term the preferred lvl IV mission runners are currently the T1 Dominix for a cheap boat and any of the marauders if you have cash.

A better drone boat is the Rattlesnake, they are more friendly, at least, IMO.

I say the golem is great for all space, you get killer tank and killer DPS + the power to change your damage type

Mach for Level 3s, and probably level 1s and 2s as well. Vargur/Mach for level 4s.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Level 1: Talwar or Caracal
Level 2: Caracal
Level 3: Cyclone or Drake
Level 4: Typhoon/Raven with LMJD and auto targeting missiles.

TYVM for the answer so far - skills are pretty good, but not enough for a marauder. ;)

Used to do missions with rifter or stabber - are they still good?

Any cookie cutter setups?

They are fine.

It's not really an answer to your question, but... why?

I mean right out of the gate you're calling it a grind. Why do that to yourself?

Since I trained primarily for Caldari ships, these are what I have used, and do use:

Level 1: Merlin, Cormorant (don't care for the Corax)

Level 2: Caracal, Moa

Level 3: Ferox, (use to use Drake)

Level 4: Raven, CNR, Navy Scorp

For Levels 1-4, I fly out of Inaro CPF. All the agents for each level are there, and made it easier to get to Level 4s.

In Minmatar space Mach is the fastest. Nothing (much) jams you and the tank is plenty for missions. For the couple missions where you do get jammed you can afford the slots. A couple F-90's vs Serpentis and a couple ECCM's for Pith.

800's + 4 sentries (mission specific). 5 Hobgoblins for anything that sneaks past.

Vargur is also Excellent, as it can fit a nano, MWD, and MJD no sweat. So you can get in range quickly and actually maraud with it.

internet spaceships

are serious business sir.

and don't forget it

depends which weapon system u use.

I love my raven navy, it outperforms a scorpion navy thanks to better application and higher alpha = less missile cycles.
WC l4 i clear warpin 2nd room and final room (ignoring the extra) in 20minutes. Didnt have a AE4 yet so cant say anything about that. Sansha pirate invasion cleaning the room in less than 15 minutes. Cant remember the other mission times, just that i blop non elite cruisers and bc with one volley, bs normaly with 4-5 (Merc/angel bs with low bounty 2).

EDIT: doesnt mean the scorpion is a bad choice, its more versatile thx to 2 more mids where u can choose what to do with

Are you talking about LP farming lvl4's or actually grinding mission standings up to the better lvl4 LP payouts? For grinding standings I'd say an AF would be ideal through lvl3 in most cases, apart from EWAR jamming rats (best with auto-targets and drones but still doable). Then at four, maybe more up to weapon system choices and what rats you are primarily dealing with. Personal choice I pref the CNR for LP mission farming.

I'm in it for the money

This.

A popular way (but not the best way) to think about your EVE experience going forward is to figure out which cool and interesting ship you'll want to fly. But when you apply some Big Picture Thinking, it makes more sense to build your experience around particular weapon systems (in fact, I'd even suggest that one specialize), with special attention paid to training support skills for those particular weapon systems.

Drones are great across the board. Dominix, Ishtar, even the 'geddon (drones and neuts) post-Odyssey. Solid drone skills are almost par for the course.

Missiles open up progression from the Caracal right up to the Golem, as well as giving you the fundamentals for Nighthawk and Cerberus. Even the Typhoon.

Additionally (using Missiles as an example), if you've trained Heavy Missiles, it makes just as much sense to spend time on ALL missiles - HAMs, Cruise, yes even Torps, because missile support skills apply to nearly all missile types. This also makes you more useful in PVP and related situations.

Macharial is your best bet. I use mine for standings grinding of any faction for lvl2's and 3's. Also my go to boat in minmatar space.
With a t2 shield tank fit, both race BS to 4 and meta 4 800AC's you will do really well. T2 ac's are the icing on the top.
My fit off the top of my head.. its omni tanked as I am lazy :)

high: 800AC's, small tractor beam
mid's: 100mn ab (cap satble with it running, speed is your friend\tank), xl-sbooster(pulse as needed), em ward field, 2x invuln(I think)
low: 3 x faction gyro's, 1 xt2 gyro, 3 x tracking enhancers
rigs : Think i have a therm rig to close resistance hole, and cap recharges.. not sure though.

For lower level missions burn away from the incoming frigs and you will never have to launch your drones.

... What next ??

Level 1s - Thrasher or Talwar, depending on if you have better missile or gun skills. (Really, anything can run level 1s. Destroyers just let you blitz them faster).
Level 2s - Rupture
Level 3s - Hurricane or Cyclone. Both will work, depending on how you fly and what skills you have.
Level 4s - Go from a Maelstrom to a Mach to a Vargur. The Mael is a phenomenal ship, the Mach is better but much more expensive (And relies more on proper piloting), and the vargur will let you facetank everything while calmly salvaging the wrecks you generate. If you can afford to start at the Machariel, do that.

There is no right or wrong way to mission. I have a dominix, an arty maelstrom, and a fleet tempest that all work well in the right circumstances. When I want easy mode, I fly the domi, when I want to be able to one-shot everything in the room, I use the Mael, and when I want to actually fly around instead of parking and pressing F1 I fly the fleet 'pest. Other excellent ships include the (navy) Raven, Golem, Rattlesnake, and Typhoon. There are many other great ships (Vindicator, Paladin, etc) for missions, but due to their damage types aren't the best choice in Minmatar space.
