On what to train?..
got a bit stuck, and not sure where to go really
the char is gall speced with cmd and such as prim.

I can always find stuff to train... it is a gift (or a curse).

Recon 5 : It makes a big difference.
Strategic Cruisers : Surprised you don't have this or subsystems trained - best command ships
Jump Portal Generation 1 : Covert jump portals (pointless to train higher than 1 for Black Ops)
Thermodynamics 5 : Overheat!
Nanite Operation 4 + Nanite interfacing 4 : Repair heat damage
Biology 5: To use boosters
Cyno Field Theory 5 : Goes well with recons (covert cynos).
Graviton Physics 5 : T2 warp disruptor generator
Target Painting 4 : why not
Jump Drive Calibration 5 : I strongly recommend for anything with a jump drive
Missile Projection 5 : Range is most important with missiles
Anchoring 5 + Starbase Defense 4 : Never a gunner around when one is needed

Let me know if you want more suggestions, but I think that will keep you busy a bit.

If recon 5 for tackling & BO hot drops, maybe look at Cloaking 5 - that takes another full second off the retargeting delay.

PS: Missile Projection > Missile Bombardment for torp bomber use IMO - project = speed of the torps so it does extend the range but that speed means it hits the target sooner from "normal" ranges. This lets you GTFO faster, outside of just range increase. It's a very nice recommendation along those covert ones you have above.
