"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The summary of the previous week 20/2014 can be found here. Available is also the overview 2014

The current "This week in EVE" gives on overview of the week from May 17th to 23rd

Dev blogs and official information
  • Coming in Kronos: Introducing what's in the Kronos release - Forum discussion
  • The next big update to EVE Online will come with the Kronos release on June 3rd and CCP Seagull gives here an overview of all the exciting things coming with Kronos: completely new ships of the Mordu's Legion pirate faction, the ORE Prospect frigate, continued improvements to the visuals in New Eden, more ship balancing (for example mining ships and freighters) and more. Read the blog for all the information!

  • The ETC is Dead, Long Live the PLEX Activation Code! - Forum discussion
  • CCP Spitfire explains in this blog that the EVE Time Codes (ETC) are going to be replaced with PLEX Activation Codes (PAC). PLEX Activation Codes work virtually the same way as the old ETCs did; the only difference is that the new PLEX Activation Codes must be used on the EVE Online Account Management website. This change doesn't affect the pricing. Find out more about this change in the blog.

  • Community Spotlight: Open University of Celestial Hardship - Forum discussion
  • CCP Eterne presents in the long running Community Spotlight series this time the educational organization "Open University of Celestial Hardship" or short 0UCH. This interesting university has a formal training program including a class schedule and lots of hands-on training. Read more about OUCH this Community Spotlight!

  • Policy: Monetization Of Videos
  • Please be aware of our formal policy that you are welcome to upload your game-related videos so long as the videos are freely available to everyone (i.e., there is no charge, subscription, or “premium access” fee required to view them). Additionally, you may monetize your videos by way of YouTube’s “partner program”, Google’s Adsense program, or any similar advertising revenue sharing model, provided the third-party advertisements do not interfere with a viewer’s access to the video. Please read the full policy for all the details.

Kronos related information
[list]
  • [Kronos]"Little" UI things
  • CCP karkur updated the list of "little" UI improvements coming with the Kronos release. Especially the color coding of broadcasts in the fleet history window received a lot of praise. Don't forget to check out the other interesting improvements too!

  • [Kronos] Hyperspatial Accelerator Modules
  • With the Kronos release a new set of low slot modules is introduced. Those modules increase warp speed by a flat amount between 0.2 and 0.3 AU/sec before rig/implant multipliers and do not have any stacking penalty. A maximum of three modules are allowed per ship. Blueprints for these modules can be found through low-sec exploration.

  • [Kronos] Blockade Runner Rebalance
  • With the Kronos release we will see an overhaul of the Blockade Runners. Most notable is the second highslot and a third lowslot of the Prowler, increased cargohold (reaching around 10k m3 with T1 rigs), increased warp speed bonus instead of tanking bonus and full T2 resistances. Full details are available in this thread.

  • [Kronos] Deep Space Transport Rebalance
  • With the Kronos release the underused Deep Space Transport ships receive some polish and upgrades. First of all those ships will get a large fleet hanger (50k m3) plus a 5% bonus on the size of this hangar per transport ship skill level. Then you will get a bonus on overheating tanking and propulsion modules. Additionally those ships can use the new Medium Micro Jump Drive. Immunity from bubbles is not an option. Full details are available in this thread.

  • [Kronos] Freighters and Jump Freighters Rebalance
  • With the Kronos release we will see an overhaul of Freighters and Jump Freighters to make them more customizable. To achieve this, all Freighters and Jump Freighters will receive 3 low slots. Additionally all those ships receive a bonus on CPU requirements for Reinforced Bulkheads. Please also note the new low slot [url=https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=346230]warp speed...

Devposts on the forum and news
    [list]
  • EVE Online: Rubicon 1.4.6 was deployed on May 22
  • The patch Rubicon 1.4.6 was deployed on May 22 and delivered improvements to the UI, introduced better control over tooltip display and fixed some missing icons in the ISIS.

  • Researching - thoughts by CCP Greyscale
  • CCP Greyscale gives a good overview and summary on where we are regarding the changes on how research is going to work after the industry changes in the Crius release. CCP Greyscale then continues and addresses excellent feedback and questions in his following posts. Please also note the new thread Blueprint data adjustments!

  • Blueprint data adjustments
  • With the Industry and research changes coming in Crius, CCP Greyscale would like to discuss the specific topic on changing the static blueprint data, e.g. time and material requirements for different jobs, max runs for copies etc. An overview on the current situation, the goals and changes to achieve those goals are included in this thread. You can see excellent feedback and discussion in this thread!

  • Fanfest 2015 and the Party Bus
  • For Fanfest 2014 we didn't have any Party Bus (due to strike threats and uncertainty on when flights are arriving), but for Fanfest 2015 this is something which we would love to do. However, nothing can be confirmed right now as we are still in the planning stage as CCP Falcon confirms.

  • Dominix redesign not part of Kronos
  • The redesign of the Dominix was never part of the Kronos release. Instead the redesign was shown during Fanfest 2014 as part of a glimpse into the future and what potentially lies ahead after Kronos.

  • Intel's 4GHz processor - because of Falcon
  • CCP Falcon provides some interesting insight into his experience with overclocking. The fastest clock rate he had on a chip was 5.25GHz for few hours; the long term overclocking is at 4.8GHz. Nice!

  • Gallente - are they the best?
  • Is Gallente really the 'best' race? CCP Ytterbium has his own (game design) point of view. Later CCP Falcon and CCP Logibro chime in with interesting opinions. All hail the croissant Megathron!

  • API and public CREST discussion - a perspective of the time frame
  • Tax rates on Planetary Customs Offices (POCO) won't be available via the API as CCP FoxFour explains. Having the tax rate available would mean that information about all POCO's in game would be available, who owns them, where they are etc. CCP FoxFour and continues to give a rough perspective on the time frame for PI data available via the API and CREST endpoints. Also note that an update is available for testing now!

  • Mac: Singularity Launcher Locking TQ Out - FIX
  • Some who are using the Mac to connect to Singularity might have experienced a lockout from Tranquility. CCP Sledgehammer provides a solution on how to fix this lockout. Please note that this affects only Mac users!

  • C6 wormhole connections
  • Class 6 wormholes originally should have only connections to wormhole space and they should never lead to known space as CCP Greyscale pointed out. However, currently they actually connect to known (null security) space. Further discussion and feedback revealed that this behavior is not harmful and can lead to interesting situations and so it is more a feature now. CCP Greyscale sums it up nicely.

  • Don't try this at home - do NOT buy ISK!
  • CCP Grimmi gives some insight on the constant battle against real money trade (RMT) which is strictly forbidden. Don't buy ISK! If you need ISK in game, just buy some PLEX either directly from CCP or from some of the official retail partners and then convert the PLEX into ISK by selling them on the in-game market. Never trust ISK sellers, stay away from them!

  • Faction station visual variants - some lore background
  • With the Kronos release we will see visual variants of the faction stations. CCP Antiquarian explains how these variants nicely fit into the lore background of New Eden.

  • Early design studies on ways to remove offline POS towers
  • CCP Ytterbium reveals that there are early design studies and investigations on ways how to remove offline POS towers and structures. The time frame for this...

The reason for that was some vacation time and, unfortunately, a bicycle accident which turned out to be fortunately harmless.

After a week where RL has interacted with with EvE time in a very bad way I'm more happy for those summaries than ever before.

    Bike Safe Phantom ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.
