I dont think he could claim the right anyway.

My understanding of the codex duello is rusty but i believe that charge can only be made over honour, being a cuckold or in revenge for an assault on the family.

I doubt 25 quid counts as honour.

Maybe in 1800 that would have worked as 25 pound was a handsome sum. But not today.

Plus he isnt a gentleman so cannot call the right. Unless he can show landownership and that he has a horse and a title.

Now if a chap at the DVLA had been banging his mrs then that would be ok.

Honestly didn't realize the date. Saw a friend post it, he's usually so good about not trolling.

meh but that's what you get with English law. In the US, it's still arguably legal in the courts http://www.businessinsider.com/trial-by-combat-in-the-united-states-2013-11
And it should be, such as even US presidents and founding fathers (e.g Alexander Hamilton) have been involved in duels which only show it's intention was suppose to be a part of the process. This procedure (usually mutually consensual) was practiced throughout most of American history, and was a good practice rather than tying up the court system. imo only a barbaric civilization would consider it inappropriate for a modern society, or such a society slowly slipping into the realm of barbarianism. Once you remove consequences to actions, surely society breaks down in time. Consequently also by the tying up of the court systems further driving a society into utter failure. People would maybe think twice before doing something stupid to someone else, or face death and/or dishonor by it's result.

I'm in it for the money
