I noticed I made a little mistake in my characters name, it reads "Stiyl Kamjou", but I forgot the 'i' in Kamijou. Is it possible to get this fixed? It's a new character, I have gotten skills and money, but I'm unsure to wether I have to create the character again and lose what I've done.

im afraid that you're stuck with the name unless you biomass(delete) the character or choose to sell it

Anywhere from a few hours to two weeks.

Since the change is so small there is a chance they will be willing to change it, but it's a one time thing.

Good luck Smile

If it's really going to bug you for the rest of your EVE career then you'll want to fix it soon. I wouldn't rely to heavily on help from customer support. You can make a new character with the correct name and send over all of your ISK and items from your old toon. You don't technically have to biomass the old character unless you want the extra slot.

The reason EVE is so strict on character name changes is that your actions in this game have consequences.

Look up the actions of Bad Bobby (you could google him), who was a very, very trusted market operator in EVE for years, until he 'went bad' and stole over half a trillion ISK. Now his name is well known as a thief, and the consequences of his actions are that noone will trust him again.

If he could just get a name change to "Honest Dan the Trader", consequences would disappear.

If you haven't yet made any name for yourself a GM may consider a petition, but I would not be surprised if it is declined.

As someone who did not realize how important names were in EvE, I created my first character like I had for previous MMOs. Just picked a name that sounded funny / was accepted and did not put much thought into it. As I got into EvE (and got hooked), I realized that -everything- in EvE is tied to your character name. Your actions. Your reputation. If you join a corp you will likely be known as your main character name.

So about four months into my EvE career I killed off my original character and created Ethikos. Highly recommend you either put some thought into a name on the front end, or if you have a situation like yours consider creating a new "main" (transfer all your stuff, make your old one a Jita trader alt, etc). I realize it may sound like a drastic step, but if the name bothers you; you are going to be stuck with for a very long time if you really get into EvE.

"Don't be a Buttpipe"

Quote:
After you decide you like your portrait, you will be asked to enter a name. Your name is permanent, and case sensitive! There is no way to change your character name at a later date short of completely restarting with a new character. This goes for capitalization and so forth as well -- Eve will reproduce your name exactly as you type it, with or without capitals. It will not autocapitalize the first letter, etc.. So if you forget to capitalize your name, it will remain like that forever.
I say this because I know quite a few people who have been playing for two years or more, and they have horrible names they wish they could change, but they can't without losing those months or even years of training. Probably the best known example of this is Goonfleet member "Buttpipe." Apparently, the name seemed like a good idea to him at the time. Now, months later, he's still stuck with "Buttpipe" as his handle, despite his daily GM pleas for a change. Don't be a Buttpipe. Pick something you'll like down the road.
Take this advice only if you're positive you want a dumb name: pick a name that is as unpronounceable and unspellable as possible, and that begins with a letter in the middle of the alphabet. This makes it less likely you will be targeted in a group engagement, as you have a really awkward name to call out over teamspeak, and you will never be on top of the FCs overview which will always be sorted by name. Use a random name generator if you can't think of a name with these attributes. The downside to this is obviously that nobody on our side will be able to pronounce your name either, and its just not cool.

I am literally lolling out loud at the name "Buttpipe".

So juvenille, yet so funny to laugh at.

Names are probably one of the most important things in EVE as you will be forever tied to it on comms today an alliance mate was telling a story about convoing a friend and he was giving him smack because that is how they interacted lo and behold the friend had sold the toon. The name follows you everywhere and not just the character name but nick names as well. My first 1 1/2 in eve everyone referred to me as Archer later after I left I get referred to as Forest neither is wrong but the transition took time.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

One option: since you've got three character slots, you can use a second slot to create a new character with your preferred name. You can't transfer over any skills, but any money on your old character's account can be given to the new character. I forget whether you've got to be out of your trial period before you can create contracts passing physical assets to the new character. If you've got a friend online who you trust, then you can have that friend act as a go-between for passing assets from the old character to the new one.

In any case, it can be done, but it'll cost a little, in lost skills and skill books that need to be purchased again.

This is a problem that would be easily fixed by listing a player's former aliases in his character window.

No, your biomassed Character gets transferred into a Corp called Doomheim (which will show on these forums as well as ingame, iirc).
That also means that your Char is not truly deleted and could be reactivated.

Before you biomass to fix your name make another character as a holding character and send them all your stuff and ISK (if you have any) and if you are subbed so that you can make contracts). If you have acquired anything valuable it will go the way of the biomassed character and you will not be able to access it again.

Another way to go about it is to create the new character. Create a contract on your current main to your new main. Accept the contract on your new main (ensuring you have everything). Trade all the ISK on your current main to your new main. Ensure you have all that ISK on your new main. And then biomass (if you dont want to go the Jita alt route) your current main.
