Because the majority of GD posters aren't simply waiting for something to complain about. Right.

When there isn't a clear topic, they'll invent one on the spot or simply flame someone's thread until the next item on the *****-about list.

Most of the remaining people try to pretend they're moderators and take every opportunity to tell people that they're stupid and that their thread doesn't belong rather than having something even remotely resembling a productive comment.

Edit: New moa looks like it's pretending to be Serenity.

Awesome... +1, and about frakking time, too.

The current/soon to be EXTINCT Moa hull... makes my eyes bleed.

The majority of GD posters make their complaints known where appropriate. Calm down, they're just joking about.

Those wing or sides or whatever look like legos stuck to the sides. Feels like someone had a good start then got tired and reached in the lego box and said meh good enough ill just paint it the ships color.

Good. Every single ship in the game should be symmetrical, and getting rid of the most blatantly fugly asymmetrical model is a great start. Symmetry is just more pleasing to the eye. I'd rather all the ships look sexy and resemble what the new Condor and Moa look like then them representing some kind of ugly "design aesthetic".

The new Moa is awesome and its not symmetric at all.
People who say it is should take a closer look at its belly... and see the beauty of its drone bay on the port-side.

I respect your point of view, but EVE has always been characterised by unusual, not necessarily symmetrical designs, and that makes them unique. Most space games have very generic symmetrical designs, and some of the new designs -Condor, Moa- might look too generic; I mean, they don't look that EVE-like anymore. I'm not saying they're horrible and should never be implemented -I just had a look at them in SiSi and look nice- but I think keeping their assymetry while making a new model wouldn't hurt: imagine the new Moa only having a left "briefcase" or the new Condor only having a right engines-wing, or the new Crucifier having its left wing on top like the old one; new models, but still recognizable.

Moreover, not all EVE asymmetrical ships are that horrible: Omen, Aeon, Atron, Catalyst, the new Tempest... Those ships are unique because of the assymetry; can you imagine a symmetrical Aeon?

There are also ships so ridiculously assymetrical you love them precisely because of that: for example, the Blackbird. I bet it's one of the most unusual sci-fi ship design ever. If it gets remodeled to be symmetrical too... it might lose what makes it unique. Sure, new models with better textures and more polygons are great, but in my opinion they're are not that nice when the ships lose their "identity".

Also, a spaceship does not need to be symmetrical. We could argue about propulsion torques, but these ships already turn without visible manouver engines, so we could say they're advanced enough to use other methods to remain oriented (perhaps local space warping?).

However, we can discuss and argue a lot about ship designs, because this is a very subjective matter. You say symmetry is more pleasant to the eye; I say assymetry is more interesting.

With all the major ship graphic changes over the years, too bad CCP did not allow those that had the original version keep their ship as "ship type" (Classic) while all further built versions were to become "ship type" (Modern). Both ships would have identical stats - just one would have been considered ~older~ than the other.

Of course, someone will probably whine that CCP would have to adjust twice the art for the same ship in future adjustments when they could have been working on flavor of the month concept idea...

There is Functional looking asymmetry, good looking asymmetry, ugly and unneeded asymmetry and then you had to Moa, happy to see it gone.

Actually would have prefered it if they treated the new hulls the same way they dealt with the strealth bombers. Keep the t1 versions on the older hulls but give the t2 versions the new ones. I do agree the new hulls look pretty generic. I think the stealth bomber remodelling was more to my taste. The manticore is just nice.

I just hope they don't remodel the Blackbird... If there's something more EVE-like than the old Moa, it is the Blackbird.

Im sure you loved the "Staircase full of needles" Scorpion too, huh?

The quicker the gun-stapler Blackbird is replaced the better

All the changes so far have been massive improvements

I liked most of the older designs better. Different people have different aesthetic preferences. The new Moa looks pretty lackluster and uninspired, to me. I liked the old one much better. And as far as losing the old designs goes, that is the last straw for me.

I want the ability to buy them back. That way, the people who like the new ships can have them. And I can have my insane Gila-Chicken back. Right now on SiSi my Gila is spewing venom all over itself because it HATES ITSELF! Evil

If anyone else wants to help me save the old designs I've got a thread for that.

If you like any of the older ship models (original artwork) better than the redesign of your favorite hull and don't want them to be lost forever, support ship customization and this feature request.

Actually (aprat from the "last straw" line) I agree with this, now Ive thought about it

I think it would be kinda cool to have both hulls in the game, older hulls looking different from new versions

Of course, this would create a collector's market for the old designs, and may confuse newbies a little more
