I would find this interesting if PC gamer hadn't wasted away to the point that it has less subscribers than a mildly successful part time YouTuber.

I think it sucks they tell people things like this. Because all it will do is bring in more people that want it to be just like the game they left behind.

I don't think you know how to use "and even". Normally you put the one LEAST likely to meet that condition, and you put the one MOST likely.

Should have been "Final Fantasy XIV, Guild wars 2, and EVEN World of Warcraft.

Oh, and also, stop using dropbox.

He was right, regardless of people's personal opinions of WoW you can't ignore its success.

On a more serious note: I'm surprised, but it's nice to see the game featured in such a way :)

All those new subs, sort of like that massive surge after the B-R free publicity?
Look at the PCU now. Note how the numbers are now lower than BEFORE B-R.

But I am sure there is zero correlation between the PCU and the actual subs.
Besides, we can always go to the % of votes cast and the total votes cast in the past CSM "election" to figure out...oh wait.

Eve is the only MMO I've ever even tried a demo of, much less subscribed to. So the only way I can compare it to other games is to say Eve is the only one that's worth my time.

Logins always drop slightly just before a major expansion. There were 46k logged in last Sunday, looks pretty healthy for this time of year.

You can keep pulling numbers out to try support your arguments, doesn't make them any less hilarious. Fingers crossed the zombies wake up in Summer and start mass unsubbing in rage over the highsec apocalypse eh. You should go warn them with a sammich board in Jita P

I can assure you that there are many that do not vote. I am one of them and I even new about the vote. There are 1000's of pilots, probably more, that do not even interact with any part of EvE other than the client/game itself.

I can ignore the success of WoW with the same efficacy, reasoning and legitimacy that I can ignore the success of Reality TV.

Reality TV brought nothing new to the industry, it just bastardized old concepts and ran them into the ground.

Financial success is not necessarily success. You can win a war but if you had to burn every village, salt every field, poison the wells, burn the bridges and effectively destroy all developments of civilization as you go, what have you really won other than the impoverishment of your children?

It amuses me to see this thread next to the "Why Isn't EVE More Popular" thread.

"EVE is a dark and harsh world, you're supposed to feel a bit worried and slightly angry when you log in, you're not supposed to feel like you're logging in to a happy, happy, fluffy, fluffy lala land filled with fun and adventures, that's what hello kitty online is for." -CCP Wrangler

Again personal opinion is irrelevant when every actual metric of success is something they have achieved. Whether it be sustained subs, profitability, longevity, and overall impact on the genre itself(for better or worse). They themselves can't be blamed for the popularity they created or the mass of developers that followed them in that model. Innovation is nice when it works but usually doesn't, but simplicity can be a beautiful thing, and that is what WoW did and was very successful at it.
