Assuming two similar sized forces and commander competency, who would have the advantage?

Assuming that Jove aren't all dead yet... Definietly Jove.

CONCORD isn't that powerful, it's their numbers and cooperation with Empires that allows them to almost instantly warp into capsuleers, who have engaged in crime activities. Also game mechanics give something here, because you can fly the titan - you'll still be dead in ten seconds by one salvo of CONCORD battleship. It was also good described in Empyrean Age - when Elders attacked CONCORD in Yulai, fight was close to draw, at least before Minmatar pushed their titan to field. Jove, on the other hand, are much, much more advanced than we are. Who knows, maybe they are already able to something what we can only dream about... I can't tell you for sure - my only trace is the battle of Vak'Atioh.

I'd imagine the world would be surprised in the conflict when the Jove activate all their failsafes they've had hidden in the technology all these years. Or they simply overcome the weakness inherent in all the technology. Twisted

CONCORD is a joke and really powerful only against capsuleers. A single empire could probably destroy the whole CONCORD in a single day from their territory, because all CONCORD's fancy shiny thingies and (game mechanics) exploits are allowed only because the empires good will. CONCORD is not really a power against anyone, but egg-pilots.

Of course there is the official talk about how CONCORD is maintaining the peace between empires and how they are amazing and good and sexy and grumpy and lot of other nonsense and fluffy words, but that's all just marketing propaganda from empires to their citizens.

Now, Jovians are really mysterious and what is a mystery, automatically transforms in human nature into a danger. We don't know anything about them. They might be the same power as others, they might be weak, they might be dead. They can't be stronger than any of the empires, though, because I really don't know why would an extraordinery powerful empire hide itself for so long for... what reasons, exactly.

Anyway, CONCORD is a potato, Jovians are a mystery and I'm going to bake my cake.

very informative. My opinion of the two aformentioned factions has just been kicked over and thrown out the window.

I geuss if been mislead to assume that concord was more advanced than any one faction, but simply smaller.

No you were correct, as the CONCORD section in EVE: Source makes unambiguously clear. CONCORD builds ships using the best technologies from all 4 empires(Ammarian power plants, Minmatar propulsion systems, ect.), resulting in better, per ton, ships than any of the empire navies operates, and they have a sizable fleet, although not one as large as any of the empires. While CONCORD could probably not defeat any of the empires in direct combat, they would take longer than a day to fold, and would take more than their weight of ships down with them.

That's true but it is much, much smaller than we are ICly led to believe. CONCORD has a highly advanced, small force which it can deploy in large numbers anywhere in high security space at a moment's notice. They don't maintain control through the technology so much as by creating the illusion of a significant fleet through quickly allocating them where they are needed when they are needed, as if they are really deployed everywhere.

Concord ships aren't really that powerful compared to capsuleer ships. The advantage they have is that they vastly outgun enemies, which is why you see massive Concord blobs during Burn Jita. If you were to pit X Concord ships against X Jove ships the Jove would probably win.

Probably? Even with the Jove outnumbered 10:1 by Concord I'd be surprised if the Jove even took significant losses.

Considering how sneaky Jovians can be, I would just assume they activate secret failsafes they've hidden in the technology they've left for CONCORD or something. Or they would simply use their spies to make the four empires remove their support for CONCORD, letting it collapse. The battle Jove Directorate vs. CONCORD would never happen. Jovian spies would know about it before the ships were ever assembled in a fleet. Lol

It's seems that the Jovians might have died out, but they were the guiding hand behind the formation of CONCORD and the reason it's able to do the things it does. There are hints in the fiction that they are still carrying on the Jovians agenda even if they might not understand it.

But lets say by some miracle Jove came back.

They would pretty much wipe out anything even concord. See if concord have to react to any situation in high sec they take like 15-30 seconds whilst the Jove would just blap you. No questions asked
