In the latest issue PC Gamer June 2014, EVE was awarded title of best game ever on the PC.

This beat off other notable MMOs such as (apologies for mentioning) World Of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 and even Final Fantasy XIV.

Quite a feat in one of the most popular gaming mags read today. Expect new subs to surge!! Cool

EVE sure is a great game.

A virtual world where we can all escape to and forget our real life worries for a few hours each day.

Congrats CCP! Thank you for creating a game that I really enjoy playing and being a part of.

Now get back to sorting out those tooltips for us. Smile

To be fair I don't see how. At least as the all time MMO.

OMG .. the new subs sprouting from this will result in more people demanding changes to EVE, more bittervet retaliation on the forums, more "sociopath" babbling of carebears, more "tear harvesting" of gankers and scammers, all of which will cause the death of EVE!!!1

On a more serious note: I'm surprised, but it's nice to see the game featured in such a way :)

Those listings have been in every issue. EVE has always been in the top 5 for MMO's - except for 2 months ago when Rust was made number 1 and EVE dropped out altogether.

PC Gamer is a good magazine I have been getting it for many years . I know that they even have a PC Gamer Corporation too.

They used to include a DVD with drivers and demos on it but have now gone to codes for things - either a free game or upgrades for pay to win games such as WoT.

It is good to see EVE at the top where it should remain! That Blizzard game was number 1 for so many years - its good to knock it off its perch.

My friend came in my house the other night whilst i was playing EVE and his and his mates opinion was "it looks too hard" and " this looks complex" to which I said download the free demo and strap yourselves in. I offered to send them ISK to get started too.
They haven't taken it up yet though.... Maybe if we had magical ponies and mohawk grenades..... who knows!

I love EVE. It is an amazing experience - its scope is mind boggling, Whether you choose to mission in hi sec, become an Industrial magnate, a slick trader, a Naval commander, a bounty hunter, a pirate, a smuggler, a null sec dweller or a Worm Hole explorer it all leads to an immersive trip that can not be rivalled by any other current game.

CCP you are doing a good job and laid solid foundations - now push on and take us further!

I do. Eve is the only mmo I've ever subscribed to as well as one of the only two games I consistently play (the other being Red Orchestra 2)

Makes sense. For a game to survive as long as EvE has with a lean player base, according to 'industry standards', indicates a very strong game. No matter the complaints people can make about EvE the game delivers a whole lot of gaming options and diversity. Add in the single Universe and the fact that everyone that plays the game affects/effects Twisted each other, no mater how minutely, EvE should be number one for a long time.

Yeah, but how about the new threat from Elite (Dangerous)? Many of us veterans remember the original which probably inspired Eve. I can see a real challenge there and even X3-Reunion is getting an overhaul.

Braben has promised E:D will "Solve everything thats with with Eve Online".

Which means it will suck ass.

Expecting graphically pretty First Encounters, not functionally multiplayer Elite 1 unfortunately.

It doesn't say its the best MMO of all times. It just says that its a great game, the same as Civ 5 is not the best strategy game of all times but still a great game (same with the other ones listed in the srceenshot).
