Hello everyone! I am looking for voice actors that would like to participate in the recording of an Eve Chronicle.

First, some background. For the last year or so I have been recording the Chronicles (the backstory of Eve) in an audio format and publishing these episodes as the Eve Reader podcast. I invite you to visit www.evereader.org or visit the official forum thread about the podcast here if you would like to listen to the recordings or to learn more about the podcast.

I am looking for assistance in recording a specific Chronicle - "514" - which despite its name is a story set entirely within the familiar universe of the capsuleer. Ordinarily I can create two, three, even four distinct voices within a recording... but this is a story that features the strong personalities of four faction leaders within the Eve universe. I feel that it would work much better adapted as a recorded play instead of as an audio recording of the narrated story, and I would like to invite interested members of the Eve community to this project!

A link to the story is here - 514 - and I encourage you to read through it and see if there is a character that you feel you would be interested in portraying. The story itself does a good job describing the traits needed for the various voices - Jamyl Sarum's regal demeanor, Tibus Heth's gruffness, the nervousness and steadiness of the various soldiers, and so forth.

A few basic points :

1. Experience is nice but not a requirement. If you're worried about breaths, awkward pauses and so forth, then don't worry - that's all part of the editing process. Needless to say you'll have to be okay with direction and multiple takes to get it "just right" so patience is necessary as well.

2. You will need a working microphone, preferably a higher quality one. While I don't expect everyone to have a studio quality condenser microphone, it is reasonable to request decent audio quality for an audio recording.

3. You will need to be able to speak in English that can be easily understood. I have no problem with accented English, and indeed it can lend an exotic quality under certain circumstances.

4. In order to avoid potential issues with ownership, you will need to be age 18 or older. You will also need to turn over rights on your recorded material to me so I can edit and prepare it as needed. Rest assured that credit will be given to all actors involved, and if you would like to be credited via your real name (for portfolio building, as an example) then I can do that instead of (or alongside) giving credit to your in-game name. CCP has already given permission to utilize their intellectual property for these audio recordings.

If this interests you, use your favorite audio recorder to create an MP3 file with a line from the part (or parts) you are interested in, then send me an in-game mail and we can talk about your recording. You can also send me an in-game mail if you have questions, ideas or suggestions.

Thank you,
Zendane

Well this is decidedly well written and is the complete opposite of what I was expecting(it is GD after all). I hope you find the right people and I look forward to hearing the finished work.

The nerd in me also wants to add: Dude, this is so freaking awesome!

I am aghast at the quality of this thread. You stayed on topic, didn't whine, no cheese, good spelling, better grammar, avoided run ons, used the Enter key (or Return for the heathens), and forced me to read the whole thing only one time to fully comprehend what the frack you wanted.

I shall deign to lift a finger and send my cat scratch fever to your inbox... when I can.

I like the story, I'd be willing if my microphone is good enough.

Here's the odd part, I'd be willing to try for Empress Sarum. Most people mistake me for a female on the phone anyway and while I'm not English I think I can fake the accent well enough. I watched the coronation video to hear her voice and I might be passable. If you get a real female to try for the part, I'm willing to try for another part Big smile

Hmmm well i guess i might fire off an example or two, although i would probably end up using my headset mic over my cardioid just because i have to raise my voice a lot to use it and the quality doesn't seem that much better really

I'm from London, so if you need anyone that can go a bit Cockney (if you know what that is!) or speak 'posh like The Queen', then give me a shout ;)

Nice project by the way - whatever happens, good luck with it! Smile

Funny thing. When I read the bit about a Cockney I had a cockney voice in my head. When I read the posh part, I heard the queen saying it.

Your very good.

OP, you should use him. Even in type he sounds good.

I can't help you.
However, I just wanted to say that you're doing great work. I've listened to all the eve reader podcasts in my car on the way to work and they're awesome. Smile

Hi folks - I've received several audition files but there are still plenty of parts left, some of which have no auditions yet.

Remember that the goal is for me to be able to hear your voice, so another audio format such as Soundcloud is perfectly fine. If you'd like I can even join you on a voice server (TS, Vent, Mumble, you get the idea) and we can chat about it.

I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment but I'd like to write up something about the type of voices I envision for each character. Bear in mind, however, that I am flexible on this - someone sent in an audition tape for one of the soldiers that was completely unlike what I originally intended... and was in fact better that what I had in mind.

Thank you for the kind words so far, both in this thread and via evemail! Again, if there are questions, auditions or comments, I look forward to hearing from you.
