Blocking characters just isn't enough.

I want to be able to block an entire account.
When visiting the wonderful market places that are the trade hubs I'm sure we are all aware of the crap in local. Each time I visit I find myself blocking the spammers for the odd gem in local. I know what all the scams look like and don't need them posting by a new character each time I visit.

Blocking any particular character simply is not enough, I know it's going to get bio-massed in no more than ten hours for a new character to take it's place for the spam script to be run on the next time I log on.

I would totally settle for my context menu to have a "block account" option. Selecting this means I get ONE confirmation message after which I never, ever, get another confirmation, I am totally unable to retract my decision, I am totally unable to see what characters future or past I have blocked using this option, my block list does not increase or decrease when characters are created or bio-massed on that account, nor are any of these characters names listed anywhere I can see.

The negative impact of this option is: -

Errrrrr
Well ****, I can't think of a scenario this would be a bad thing.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

But I don't want to do that, I want to block specific accounts only, it's not everyone spamming so why blanket punish?

Think it would serve too well as counter intelligence, say you run a block on an account, then by seeing all other blocked characters deducing his or her alts will be a piece of cake. Not that I'm fond of people hiding behind alts.

Block me, my alt applies to your corp.

'Oh, why is this person I am trying to interview blocked?'

There's your free intel. And free intel is bad.

Chances of this scenario are slim enough it's unlikely to make a difference.

This is great to prevent corporate espionage, spot cyno alts, blacklist based on other account like pirate or pvp alt. Maybe reduce each account to have one character might be a better solution. Stop the meta game in eve... That will not fly well

Is that my two cents or yours?

yes, blocking characters just isn't enough and that's why CCP could give us option to block messages containing certain words. It would be much better solution.
-no free intel
-blocks every and all isk "doubling" "services" "trillionaire" spam without need to click anything! Big smile

Add to that some fancy filters that would let us see msgs sent by people on our contact list etc. Problem solved.

Like dirty word filters... Lots of micromanagement... Might work to Eve gameplay style

Critics are right. It could be used easily to figure out which chars belong to which accounts.

It's just more financially viable for me.

In EVE, slim chances are the norm.

I don't have a problem with this being added, but I'll be extremely careful not to use it and will strongly encourage others to avoid it.

Are you really finding anything useful in hub local to not do this? Not even trolling here...I can't recall last time I found something useful. I tend to find good (and legit) contracts sell themselves. No need to advertise or read the advertisements. You will most likely find your real deals spamming contract search faster tbh.

When I got indy burnout and fire sold stuff I dropped a damn good BS bpo(among others but this one of my better one) on contracts for a very fair price. It was sold 2 jumps back into my flight back to home system. Good price, legit item... it sold itself.

Since a 1 man I swtich to my nice e empty corp channel. tend to not find I am missing much. Like recently hit rens for the first time in years. local did noi change. Trash talk in local, cries of the ganked and occassional posting of gf. names changed, chat the same as I recall it.

And that would be absolutely horrible... for all the griefers and scammers.
Hmmmm. Trying to figure out how this is anything other than a plus...

I think of it like this: If you are a scammer and are posting a particular scam. If I do not fall for it and know the scam very well, why is it important to the scammer to create a new character in order to get off my block list? If I can recognise it without even reading more than a couple words in the post then why must they insist I have to read it and block them over and over again? I think the disadvantage of me potentially unearthing their alts is far outweighed by the annoyance of having to block the same scam over and over again I know is being posted by the same person, I mean the same keyboard/mouse script.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

i wouldn't mind this option tbh, with the added incentive to provide some security for other characters on said account where as only the character that was blocked will have their name show on the list and the other 2 characters on the account will have their names covered with either "?????" or some other form of covering per character / number used. another option would be just to have the character blocked names show up and the other 2 characters on the account blocked but the names would be hidden.

I'd personally like this as it is something that affects an account through out all of their characters, so if they try to scam on one character they blacklist the other 2 characters on that account themselves thus cutting down their chances at getting a nice deal besides out of contracts or trying to scam again on other characters.
