Looking for an old Mech game

Hello folks,

I remember back about 10-12 years ago I played an online game that, if I can remember correctly, was a mech game and I am trying to see if anyone has any idea what it was or if it is still around. It was a multi-player, browser-based (I believe its browser-based anyway) game that was played on a hex grid in real time. The view was top-down and the graphics for displaying units and different map features were just primitive shapes. Different points around the map could be attacked by enemy units and your faction would go fight the enemies to try to save or retake lost points.

If anyone has any idea what this game is/was I would love to know.

I don't know what game it is, sounds like I have never heard of it or seen it.

But while reading your post, these games popped into my mind:
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
Bolo (BBC Micro, 1987)
and this arcade mech game with realistic weapons and physics (for its time) that came out in like 1998-2000 and had some advanced controller designed just for the game.

They aren't what you're looking for, but I thought you might be interested.

Karl, I have seen Megamek in my search to try and find that old game I am looking for but I don't think that was it. Thanks for posting it though. I like Battletech so I may have to check it out.
