I'm now noticing that the chat box loses focus when I'm typing in it. It's kinda annoying.

I think it's nice that it is possible to press the 'dock' or 'jump' buttons before being in range, with the result that the ship will warp or approach as appropriate. It would be handy with a small indicator on the button to show whether or not the ship is in range, since this is not indicated in any way now.

I'm not so fond of the similar functionality with the open wreck/container button, since attempting to open a container slightly out of range can result in an undesired course change.

I'd like to suggest that this behaviour can be configured, or that the autopilot only attempts to warp to but not approach an object that is out of range.

I would like to second this.

Most everything look s good to me. Lots of nice improvements.Smile

But.....

The new paint on the Harpy, Buzzard, Falcon, Eagle and Vulture looks like you ran out of paint. Who the hell thought of that. What?

I don't mind the yellow too much but the mid 80's fade to grey just looks dumb.

My Caracal Navy Issue looks pretty sweet now I must say Cool

but.....

My Cerberus looks like &%$! Sad

Since the "patch" can't put fuel in alliance POSs anymore. Say's I don't have the correct access privileges.

Makes maintaining alliance POSs a pain!

To whoever at CCP made the changes to POS structures, I love you. I have just done my normal Sunday morning run refilling silos, and instead of 1 character in a freighter with 3 corp members following to online the silos afterwards, I did it solo. The rapid onlining times is a godsend.

I also like that you have fixed transferring materials to the silos so we no longer have to empty them and then refill them, it works out automatically what is need to refill the silo.

Euhm great patch, tho:

  • Some anoms in 0.0 got a little to much love, i wouldnt mind some lower once getting a bit more spawn ballance so i can keep my BS soloing lower once and not just crappy once. Just increasing the spawn isnt gonna make it better, but spreading out a bit more would be better. Its nearly impossible to get the same kinda ratting done pre-patch, and there not buffed enough to team run them.
  • Empire PI: Just scratches the whole thing plz, youll never get it working nicely it seems, i allready gave up all my planets cause of the new costum offices. Its cool for low-sec and 0.0, but kinds useless in empire it seems.

For the rest im glad to see manny changes made, and im really hoping CCP is gonna keep this kinda changes comming. Maybe someday we will see the vision of CCP merge with those of the players ;)

Kind Regards

Here's my feedback for the features that I've tested so far:

- PI improvements are great. You don't have to enter planet mode to import/export stuff and the import/export functionality has been greatly simplified. Somehow I've managed to miss these changes in the patch notes, so I was pleasantly surprised to see them in the game;
- New nebulas are much better than the old ones.
- Ship textures are pretty cool. Even Drake looks refreshed with these new textures.
- Tier 3 BCs are a great addition to the game. I can already see many uses for them and many counter-tactics against them. Of course, their potential balance issues might come at a later date, but I don't see any major problem now.
- Although I didn't care that much about engine trails, I won't turn them off once I saw them. Smoothly curved engine trails that you put in this expansion look very good... like they were a part of the game from the beginning :)
- New racial CQs look very good. The performance is OK. (Gallente wins the coolest award :) )
- Slightly lower FPS on my desktop machine while in space. I guess the new nebulas and textures came with a price. Since that old computer have to go anyway (5+ years), it's not that much of a big deal, but I think you might want to consider changing minimum system requirements to play the game.
- session change timer is more clear now, which really helps
- POS changes are fantastic!

Features that I like but haven't tested yet:

- supercap nerf was long needed. The changes in Crucible are a good start, but you must keep monitoring the actual battlefields and act if something is still wrong.
- Dramiel nerf is also good.
- haven't seen the gate alignment yet (currently in W-Space), but I like the idea. It's a small thing but it still adds to the variety of landscapes of EVE systems

I can list many more things to the list, but it all comes down to one conclusion:

That this is one of the best expansions in a long time. It definitively needed to be after "Incarna". CCP, you have showed again that you are capable of delivering great stuff when you are lead in a good direction. I don't generally do this kind of thing, but after Crucible, I have started a "viral-marketing campaign" on all forums, facebook, twitter and other social networks that I use to try to drive more people to try and play the game. Even Crucible trailer is made perfectly for that purpose.

Thank you for this great expansion.

Why did no-one tell me CCP had added a click 'n drag selection box to the game?

Awesome feature!
Which ever Dev added that deserves not one, but two beers!

Edit: V3's deadspace gates look nice as well.

Well, I had to re-set almost all graphics options in Esc menu to high just to see everything. While it all looked great, game was very laggy and almost non playable. After almost losing my ship within the first 1/2 hour after the expansion, I reset graphics in Esc menu back to low.

Thanks for changing the active module icons on the UI back to original. The new Text font is also great. Much more easier to see everything.

New Nebula's are awesome. Very impressive effect of getting larger or smaller while traveling. Like the way the Jump Gates are positioned. The warp bubble effect looks cool but it still needs the blue and red colors fore and aft. It also looks much more realistic while warping through planets. All this is very nice.

The new Autopilot and Jump commands are excellent. Someone else mentioned about the Cargo option in the selected items box for cans and wrecks, it definitely needs something like having it flash when within range. This should probably be the same with the jump and dock options as well.

Ship trails and the various degree of star brightness was nice but since I have an older low end computer that requires Eve graphics options to be set at base minimum, I won't be seeing those. As someone else mentioned, all this has indeed created more strain, lag, etc on the client side. The game is still playable but seems the minimum specs requirement that was listed is now lower than what's actually needed.

The color changes in the system map for scanning is good but the 3D effect creates more work. When rotating the camera from side view to top view, the signature and probes will reduce or enlarge. To keep the same view or size aspect, now have to work the center mouse wheel and re-zoom back to desired viewing aspect. I also noticed that if the signature isn't kept in the center of the screen, the probes become offset from the signature while using the r-click mouse button to place probes and signature in different area of screen. Bookmarks in the system map are very hard to see, those need to remain visible at all times.

Thanks for adding new DED sites to the game, this was needed to be done a long time ago. I haven't noticed any difference to existing anomalies, maybe that change was for low sec and 0.0 sec space only. I can't wait to collect the new Deadspace modules.

Ship skin changes are great, especially on my Sleipnir. Love the idea of a Command ship having a Camouflage paint job. Shouldn't have nerfed the Dramiel. All the other Pirate Frigates should have been buffed instead.

Captains Quarters are excellent, Eve needs more WiS content to become the ultimate Science Fiction Virtual Reality Universe that it was meant to be. Sadly though I also won't be using it due to graphics options being set to bare minimum.

Thanks for fixing the Forum BBC error for links. That was definitely getting very annoying.

Well, that's about it for now. Over all this expansion seems to be mostly win. Props to all the Dev's for all the hard work.

Guess I should really start looking into getting my 10 year old desk top computer upgraded, doubt it'll be able to handle too much more.

I dont like the super celebrated new feature that makes your ship to aproach a floating can when I order to open it. Sometimes you have cans out or reach in your overview mixed with cans in range. You could click them and open them and go fairily quick. If some can was out of reach it simply didnt open. Do didnt need to look at every one's distance. Now what happens is my ships starts moving away from the main can group if I am not carull enaugh. I know I am ultimatelly responsable of what I do but I simply state this feature does not make my life easyer but oposite I have to be more aware of distances of each 30 or 40 cans around me so I dont mess with the one or two that are 10 km. away.

What did you say about CODE?

The new font may seem "amazing" or "great" at times, but in all honesty, whoever designed it hadn't been around in the 80's or 90's when designed fonts need crucial guidelines to adhere to:

A) The "tracking" (the space between fonts) is obviously at "0"... but when you look at the printing/font that we are all reading right now... even the information to the left ... underneath my name, for example, has even "tracking".

What does that mean, some may ask? Well, I see "School of Applied Knowledge" under my name. What I see is an EQUAL amount of spacing to the "right" and to the "left" of each letter, making the "l" next to the "i" next to the "e" next to the "d" in "Applied" seem wonderfully next to each other, wonderfully spaced and even.

What I DO NOT SEE IN THE NEW GAME FONT is the same guidelines and behavior:

The letter "e" in the game is too "left aligned" which leaves more space before the next leter... this causes some words to seem out of space or separated unevenly, and this is causing legebility issues, regardless of what font size you choose or what scalability you use.

MOST noticably is the oppositely "congested" numeral "0" (zero). It is pushed to the maximum edges but then, when a symbol like a "," (comma) or a "." (period) or even a ":" (colon) are immediately after the number zero, it is "wedged" right next to the "right end horizontal line" of the zero character. This makes reading symbology difficult.

An example would be the TIME: 08:04 in the lower lefthand menu column is barely noticable. This is not only because the ":" (colon) is immediately set up to display right after the previous "character/number" but also creates problems in reading AND SPACING.

This is most noticable when seeing the "thin" (unboldened) print o the font (something we users cannot replicate) - yet we see it in the TIME, DATE, TAB TITLES, and MARKET PRICING. The symbols are far more "thin"... and when you use them in an unbolded way, the TIME (for example) loses any sense of visably seeing a ":" (colon). So the time may be 10:42 or 01:16 but when you look at those TWO examples alone, you'll see uneven spacing near the "colon"... and to make things worse, the colon is much thinner, and therefore not visible.

This adds to NON-CONTINUITY amongst all letters and numbers. Anyone who has designed a font professionally knows that there needs to be an exacting amount of space on both "left" and "right" sides of EACH letter, number, and symbol. This creates a universal tracking...

This "new font" is LACKING that continuity.

If you doubt it, take a look at the lowercase "e" in any siutation... especially the market, but even in typing mail. The "e" (lowercase) is "left-side heavy" and therefor places 1 pixel (or so) too much extra space on it's other side before the next letter/symbol/number. This is more visible when you select an item and have it "emboldened"... like the price of something when purchasing/selling an item. Also see in the market listing... espcially when a "zero" is involved... Right now any of us reading this text/forum IN A BROWSER, will see the evenly spaced lettering made by the pre-existing (and functionally made) font. I see it in the predefined typeface we all see "beautifully" under our portraits ( definied in the source code as style=display: inline; float: right; font-weight: bold; text-align: right;) and even the undefined font my browser is using to type this text - which is very different. What they all have in common is even spacing on each side of each letter. Especially the "e" which seems to be one of the few (but several) problematic characters in this "new eve font"...

If I typed "new Eve font" in the game, we'd see a slight bit more spacing to the RIGHT of each instance of the letter "e"... and this breaks up the words formed by the letters.

This has been, as a font designer and editor in my personal RL career in the past 20 years, something that I'm wrestling with as I am "trying to LIKE the new font" but I simply can't. What makes it worse is that we have the only option of seeing the "normal" (slightly boldened) version/thickness of the font in all things... EXCEPT when the UI uses a special THIN (or as some may have come to know as "NARROW" version of the font)... this NARROW verions means almost a 1 pixel line version of the font that us user can NEVER user: "possibly anti-aliased", but nonetheless, a problematically visual situation in: the CLOCK TIME, DATE, MARKET VALUES, LISTINGS of the "very much BROKEN" CORP BLUEPRINTS section of the Science and Industry tabs, as well as labels for all tabs of most windows, including the tabs for chat windows, hangars, etc.)

This is hurting the eyes for several people.

The solution, after reading the Feedback AND the Issues pages seems to be almost 50/50 for all people... "all" at least as in "all people who have chosen to bother voicing their feedback and issues".

This is one of a myriad of problems, but I'm filing this under feedback because it is something we all want boiled down to:

OUR CHOICE.

Half of us love the new font. Great. I'm very happy for you people who love it.

Half of us dislike it, hate it, or "can't put our finger on it, but we don't like the change". Well, there in itself lies a problem:

Just like the CQ (which is a bug report of heell I've been working on filing because I seem to be a walking "head and half torso" defying laws of physics... and even in the Hangar (also with a windows problem that makes the whole thing "float around" instead of just the ship, creates a situation where you have users who WANT A CHOICE.

If anything is supposed to be "great" about any upgrade, it should be to give a choice to its paying users who wish to continue playing the game.

It may be personal for some, it may be visually medical for others. The reason shouldn't be the issue. The issue is in the flaw of the font's CURRENT design.

Build 306979 to 321452 addresses Patch notes for Crucible

Improvements that significantly improve EVE for me:

1) The new font. It's not perfect as the post above me states but it is way better than the old.
2) Jump button being warp to or move to and jump is very nice. Can be confusing if I only want to warp but I'll just have to pay attention.
3) POS fuel blocks.
4) Corporation chat MOTD.
5) Corporation bookmarks.

Most other improvements have a lesser effect on EVE game play for me. I'm glad new things like engine trails can be disabled.

Changes that degrade EVE for me:

1) Nebula and increased sun brightness. The increased brightness of the background makes it even more difficult to see the not so bright pulsing green of active modules, overheat indicators on modules and other important objects in the direction of the sun. I would like to have my background perfectly black with points for stars.
2) Window pin is not working. It would be nice to have pinned windows act as they did before Crucible. In addition not allowing them to fold up when double clicked in the heat of battle would be good.
3) The long loading delay when displaying the Star Map. It's very bad for FCing.

When working on EVE please make improvements to gameplay such as the items listed in the papercuts dev blog http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=3108 and less new content.

WoW. Just an amazing expansion and I've only just started to explore all the new features.

In no certain order, New nebula's are not only beautiful but much easier on the eyes. Black on white scanning screen is soo nice and easy to use. New Tier 3 BC's are just gorgeous. OMG the Firetail's new paint is just amaziing. Hookbill and Navy Caracal are very nice to. ( Navy Osprey is still ugly enough to be Gallente )

Need to refit almost all my hybrid ships but that will be fun. So far buffed blaster Thorax is very nice, just not vs a Talos. That hurt, alot.

Peeked in the new Gal CQ. It's nice but until I can install a gun rack and Quafe machine it'll stay off.

Two corp mates have re-subbed after a break and they're also very impressed so please keep it up.

FEEDBACK FOR CRUCIBILE 1.0.0 Patch #3:

ESTIMATIONS versus ACTUAL NUMBERS:

I'm confused by the choices made in this new update to "estimate" what "1 MONTH" is... (yet when it comes to billing, CCP definitely knows to say "30 day period"). So when looking at the Skill Training Queue window, because of the nature of CCP and EVE, I want actual numbers in days, not estimations of "months" since not all months are the same. It also adds to "blockage" of the skill name itself with this new wider font.

IRONICLY, just the opposite has occured elsewhere in the game:

IN THE FITTING WINDOW: Somehow the "Targeting" range has been "un-estimated".

Example:

In the ship I'm currently in, the fitting windows says I have "Targeting" of "72.12431106328 km".

Seriously, I think 72.12 km is enough for me. And with the new font, because it's the thinner version of the font, it's so small that the symbol of a "." in that huge number is lost.

I also agree with the suggestion earlier to allow us to choose between which font we want to see in the game. The "new" font, or the old one. The new font is difficult in its non-conformity of spacing ("tracking" between characters) to read. Try buying or selling something in 11-digits or more range, and even though it's big, when it's in red and spaced out, it's oddly hard to quickly interpret.

The best thing about this release has to be the graphics.

That said, all functionality improvements and/or fixes have been majorly overshadowed by new bugs caused by a rush to implementation.

Like someone said before, I'd rather have 1 or 2 new things work great than 50 new things that work like crap.
