EVE General Discussion

There are lots of people in the community that like discussing WiS. (As evidenced by the massive number of posts that happen on either side of the discussion) The trolls keep forcing them to be locked denying us a place to discuss WiS for those of us that wish to do so. There was a mega threadnaught that got closed. This was a central location for people to discuss and express their support for it rather than starting a new thread every time someone wanted to talk about it. If we need to repeatedly open new threads, every time one gets opened, we'll get the identical "Not this thread again" trolls each time one gets opened, causing redundancy and increased irritation on both sides.

I would like to request that one thread be allowed to remain unlocked for discussion, and for the community volunteers to more actively police that one thread. By allowing the trolls to force lock threads, you deny your players that would like to discuss and express their interest in Avatar and/or WiS based gameplay peacefully.

I would like to request that this thread be looked after and kept alive for those of us that do genuinely want to discuss it.

Sort of... like a pet?

A Mangy Pet that should have been put down years ago but because the owner is selfish is keeping it alive even though it writhes in pain 24/7?

While a very colorful metaphor, there are some fundamental differences that make it an inaccurate metaphor.

A forum thread is incapable of feeling therefore incapable of suffering. There is no misery to put it out of.

There is more selfishness in trying to deny people the right to discuss things they're interested in than there is in people wanting to discuss things they're interested in.

The problem isn't the threads about WiS. The problem is the people that seem to be incapable of simply ignoring them. If WiS doesn't interest you, Just ignore the threads.

There is an interest that in itself isn't malicious nor do the threads themselves violate the forums rules, and yet the situation keeps being allowed to degrade to the point where they simply lock the threads and punish everyone rather than just those that choose to disregard forum rules. I understand there's a need to maintain order and root out problems. I don't disagree with this, But locking the threads doesn't solve anything. Those that are abiding by the rules, are the one's that are hurt by the locking. Those that are breaking the rules and are causing problems get rewarded. This seems like a little bit of an ineffective solution.

I'm merely asking to keep a place to discuss it. Locking the threads about WiS doesn't make the interest go away so new threads will keep popping up. This is a simple fact.

Couple days on the job and already joining in to troll a portion of the userbase you're employed to support?

If there was only a place in the forums....where people of all walks could get together and discuss new features and ideas....

We're not here to suggest WiS. We're here to discuss our interest in it in a general sense. To put it in F&I wouldn't be the appropriate place for it.

Neither will your opposition of it rid you of our interest in it. If you're tired of hearing about it, stop reading about it.

I'm not tired of it, but it's a redundant thread, that's why they get closed. WiS is not coming back, so there's no point in discussing it on here. I'm not opposed to it, I think it could be quite fun, but EVE is a space game, and if they move into focussing on an FPS element they lose sight of their main game. For that reason they put it to bed. If the ISDs keep closing the thread, take the damn hint and stop it. Reposting the same threads over and over again is not helpful.
