Something BC size with just one gun but unlike a titan have it give a mad bonus to one gun.

Just an out of the box thought i had after reading some of the kronos changes, thought it might be fun.

I thought that the Naga would be cooler if the ship was just one big railgun.

That could be a good idea when it comes round to Tier 3 tweakages (plus pirate versions!)

And when those fancy boats are insta-gibbed within the first few minutes of a fight you are left with tools already available .. what was the point again? Big smile

Better idea is to introduce a new large gun (your ion cannon) so that they are available to all ships that fit such things (BS+Tier 3s). No targets to be gibbed until the energy is flowing.

Add in some monstrous sacrifices in fittings and usage to allow the to be ridiculousy OP even if only for a short time.

Fitting: Atrocious! One or two on a tier 3 and three or four on BS ..
Effect: Massive damage that increases over time. Capacitor drain on target equal to damage incurred,
Requirement: Strontium or similar *****-to-carry material used up for powering it (incentive to use ships with bigger cargo, ie. BS) and acts as time limiter.

Bonus if artists manage to make them look like in HW and include a burn-through visual when target enters hull Smile

I did have the ion frigates from homeworld in mind and since we have frigs with BS weapons i thought the hull should be bigger, a new module "ion cannon" with constant energy stream would be awesome but probably a nightmare to code.

New anti-capital-meta -> deploy some of these to 1shot hostile caps and then warp off.

Basicly it saves us all the dronecalculationstuff for the servers and reduces tidi? Just because of less Fighters & Fighterbombers beeing deployed ....

Sounds totally balanced ! :)

Wouldn't that kind of depend on numbers involved, both on proposed weapon system and in deployed hulls?

If their extreme damage doesn't actually come into play until they have been trained on a target for 60s or more then you won't be one-shotting much of anything .. and if done "right" you can make them utterly useless against anything sub-cap making them tools to be used when capital pilots/hulls are unavailable and pointless, bordering on disastrous, to deploy if sub-cap fight has not already been won.
Example: Damage starts at BC levels but ramps up over time so that after 5 minutes (dread siege cycle duration) they have done 1.5-2 times the damage of a Dreads output in same period with ramp-up being reset on target change. Sig resolution of weapon is moon size and barely able scratch anything smaller than a MWD'ing BS.

You also need to set your neurons free!

Anything that could potentially threaten the all-cap fleets needs to be explored, especially since CCP doesn't have the balls to nerf the damn things outright Smile
