[Proposal] Proper scaling of Stations

TL;DR: Scaling up all stations to better realistically reflect the size of stuff they contain

I know this has been suggested from time to time, but I think it's silly that it hasn't already be done. Ignorant little me likes to think it's just a matter of changing the scale-multiplier in a database, but knowing EVE it probably isn't.

Some of the stations seem to only have enough room for a single freighter, let alone hundreds that Jita is experiecing. Stations are supposed to be large cities, almost entire nations and housing millions of inhabitants.

It is immersion-breaking that they are as small as they are. Either scale them up, or make them limited for total volume of ship able to be stored at a single point in time.

The latter will most likely ruin some peoples days so it's a bad idea. I see however no drawbacks with the former.

+1 I'd like to see larger stations that properly reflect their actual size.

I wear my goggles at night.

Any spelling/grammatical errors come complimentary with my typing on a phone

This makes sense, but I can also see the technical nightmares brought from either I creasing model size or limiting how many ships can be docked at once.

I also think the OP is being a bit melodramatic about this inconsistency breaking his immersion. Exactly how long does a player sit outside a station? Certainly not long enough to even register that the station is too small. You warp in to docking range, dock, u dock and warp out right away.

The only ones out therelong enough to notice are the annoying gnats challenging every player in an industrial to a duel. They deseve at least this moch of a downsideif you ask me.

Gate campers are just Carebears with anger issues.

There's a moon right there. Just move the station exit on top of the surface, add some high res scenery and you have the moon as the new trade hub.

Came to say *But they're already dozens of kilometers in size*... But it does appear to make a lot of sense.

Would be cool if you couldn't warp to the back of a station and dock from there anymore, that thing should have an entrance/exit that also serves as a warp beacon.

Most likely all things having to do with art, graphics and models will be a technical nightmare to undertake, so yes, it will not happen overnight. Limiting ships will ruin gameplay so that is not a viable option.

I agree beeing melodramatic about this but it is something that has been nagging me from day one of playing EVE. It has nothing to do with how long time you spend outside the station. It has more to do about how you are being presented the station as you warp to dock, or undock from it. The station should be a vast structure dwarfing your ship, even if it is a large one at that.

The art panel at fanfest showed some concept graphics of how they would like to physically represent activity in the system and it was really amazing. (Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/UGUyafN.png)
Imagine having these bilboards with commercials and crap all around Jita - a vast station under constant construction (or seemingly so) to meet the demands for real estate that such a place would undergo. (Images of the half-constructed Deathstar comes to mind)

+1.
would also like to more smaller stations around the main one for that space city feel.
In regards to the jita post, in the novel Templar one, they are on a colony with an orbital elevator leading to the station in orbit. would like to see this feature for more heavily populated stations.
