Killing someones virtual character in a video game, you aren't really killing them. When you steal people required mission items with the sole intent to cause them anguish, or scam them in a video game, you are really griefing and scamming them.

Think before you post.

As a real life degenerate I find other Eve players surprisingly cuddly and civilised, but I'm sure that can be corrected.

I bet she doesn't.
Instead, it's highly likely she "knows" and that she will tell you the same as always.

Lets face the facts. EVE is a great game but it also attracts the most pathetic of degenerates via its low-risk, low-cost, low-skill ceiling "pvp" where aggressors have all the advantages, and its condonation of scamming.

The mentality of many EVE players towards others is one of disrespect often sadistic.

It is no surprise that this has carried over into the real world:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/462205/legal-action-underway-as-eve-monument-is-vandalised/

I suggest CCP give a kick to the face of the sociopaths with a patch that removes their ability to loot other players required mission items.

Finally cracking down on scamming would also be nice. It really adds nothing to your game but contempt for it. Who really cares about the degenerates that make your game ugly? Or will it cost you too much money to police it?

Um. Why would they disable ninja looting? If they're going to do that, they might as well disable missions because those damn sociopaths are selling items on the market that I'm selling. Don't want people to steal your loot? Don't mission. It's your only source of ISK? Get a new one, should be too much training to get into incursions and the isk from that is a lot better.
Scamming is in the game because it's a simulator with real people. If you make a no-rules simulator and put people in it, you will get scammers, it's a good source of isk if you're good at it.

Hey, I'm no stranger to a "hardcore" ruleset.

I used to play Darkfall, a full loot open world pvp game with no safety zones. You actually have to have good aim and utilize terrain in that game, and account for projectile flight times. Its about 10x more skill demanding than EVE.

Darkfall doesn't condone scamming however and doesn't give sociopaths an outlet within protection, such as high-sec.

try again.

So, in Salvos Lin's world;

Podding =/= Killing

But

Stealing = Fraud/Grand Theft/Larceny/Griefing (aka "Cyberbullying")

Do you not think before YOU post?

Griefing people gets you kicked out of the game. Scamming people is just a way of making money.

And yes, lots of people were surprised. Aside from those carebears you occasionally come across, who spout all kind of abuse and threats of violence over a game, people in EVE are generally very well adjusted. They use the game as a game — as escapism — and nothing more. They don't suffer any delusional confusion between real and virtual life; they don't see legal moves in the game as personal insults; and they don't flip out over having lost a round (because, hey, there will always be a second round and it's a game anyway — you win some, you lose some).

Neither does EVE. It's just a legal move among many, same as bluffing in poker or backstabbing in Diplomacy or “accidentally” contributing a low-attack card in Cosmic Encounters or feinting right but going left in football. If the other guy falls for it, great! If he doesn't, good on him for seeing through such an easy ruse.

Oh, and you know that “sociopathy” doesn't really exist, right?

That is clearly just another ridiculous and nonsensical statement. You probably aren't smart enough to scam IRL but you likely would if you could.

Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough in this thread?

When you destroy someone's ship, you might be causing anguish because they spent all their time getting it. Getting scammed, getting killed and having your loot stolen is all avoidable.
Also, the person might not be stealing with the intent to cause anguish, they might be trying to bait you to take out your ship so they can get isk or because someone stole their mission loot and they want to finish the mission.

I hope the OP realises that IF Salvos is banned, using this character to avoid the ban is in direct violation of forum rules and may also result in a forum ban for all their other characters too.

its not the rules as it is poor game design that CCP isn't willing to make the effort to fix untill more people complain about it. And apparently they think it will cost them more money to allow scamming than to police it. CCP, as we know, is a very greedy company.

needless to say, it is really ridiculous to think everything in a game like this is as it should be.

Well, I'm not your mum but maybe it's because eve is a simulator with "no"-rules

Nice personal attack there.

You break the rules of the EVE Online Forums, therefore you must be a rule breaker in real life.
