Is anyone really surprised?

Lets face the facts. EVE is a great game but it also attracts the most pathetic of degenerates via its low-risk, low-cost, low-skill ceiling "pvp" where aggressors have all the advantages, and its condonation of scamming.

The mentality of many EVE players towards others is one of disrespect often sadistic.

It is no surprise that this has carried over into the real world:

I suggest CCP give a kick to the face of the sociopaths with a patch that removes their ability to loot other players required mission items.

Finally cracking down on scamming would also be nice. It really adds nothing to your game but contempt for it. Who really cares about the degenerates that make your game ugly? Or will it cost you too much money to police it?

They permabanned the people, and deleted the accounts of the people involved. Except one, who apparently got away with only a 6 month ban.

Absolutely not. This is why characters in NPC corps should always be allowed to post on the forums. I woke up today in excruciating pain from a pinched nerve I have, grumbled my way over to my PC to check out the forums, and then giggled like a school girl after reading the OP's post. ccp need to remove missions and mining from the game

missions teach you to be rewarded for going off and murdering innocent rebels who are just standing up for their freedoms against some crazy state control: NOT EFFING OK

mining teaches people they can just go out and just start consuming natural resources for profit without thinking about anything or anyone else

jesus when will ccp act on these issues

As a real life sociopath and all round immoral entity, nothing is more enjoyable after a long day committing unspeakable acts against other living beings than coming into a spaceship video game and saying L2PNUB at anyone I find......

but I agree that there's too much abuse of the mechanic.

What did you expect really? the very essence of the game is about being ruthless and not nice. That's the problem and i land anything like this purely at CCPs fault and doorstep. They openly and happily condone this type of behavior and refuse to do anything about it, so the only people to blame is CCP

So there's no actual problem, except for the aggreasive haters who call all those names
who play the game the way it's meant to be played.

The conclusion is to get rid of the obvious minority of people who have ego related issues.

Obvious minority? Absolutely. If they weren't,
there'd be more people crying and much less people playing.

Oh and I'm for removing ALL the haters, which span across every type of gameplay,
but the self righteous ones, who believe to know what's right while ignoring reality, are the worst.
