Just wanted to give a quick shoutout before its too late.

As much as Im looking forward to the new industry features and mechanics, what a complex market like Eve really deserved was the eyes of a professional economist watching over it, analyzing and sharing many things about it for the good of the community.

The economy presentations at Fanfest were top notch. Manipulations of the player-driven market were rare, but successful when they were neccessary.

Thanks for your work, Im sure many people here know what your new position means, and wish you all the best. But beforehand, there are still a few weeks in New Eden to enjoy. Its a shame you will not be there for the industry expansion, and Im sure you regret this a little as well, as it will be interesting times for the economy.

The doctors presentations at fanfest have always been my favorite. He is an absolutely awesome guy. He is one of those few people that actually "got EVE".
I will never forget his childish joy when he showed and explained the consequences of any mayor fight, market manipulation or speculation.

Oh Im not having a go at Dr Enjoy

Im just saying that professional economists and the greater good arent seen as going hand in hand in the current era of RL

Yeah i heard him on aussie radio once talking about the pl;ayer driven economy. You could tell what a pleasure it was to deal with an environment that spawns resources forever and has no moral issues to consider.
Perfect for the feral calculators. Has an economist ever lost his job for being wrong, or are they like weathermen, who explain after the fact with perfect technical authority?

But yeah, he seemed like a cool guy, no troll.

An article went up on the Mittani.com very recently, I forgot to look at what source was cited.

Hopefully they will get someone decent to do the next FF presentation.

The progress of the last months worries me a lot Sad Less and less devs left, that get what kind of game EVE really is. Sad
I have a really bad feeling about that..

i don't have problem with EG leaving, good luck to him in a better position, o/

but

are they gonna repleace him? EG explained that EvE is at a turning point right now, that the economy is in a dangerous state of near deflation, and he wants to do stuff to get it going again.

So...what now? Are we going by the "good luck"-rule or are they bringing someone new in?

What's going on? You all sound like EVE is about to get a game-cancer or something like that. Shocked

I am sure there are competent ecomists out there who will pick up the challenge.

Dr Eyjo was one of them, and he have done a great job. Why on earth would it not happen again?

Btw, where is the article that he will indeed leave CCP? Appointing him to rector does not mean he will leave CCP.

No, he had a couple of "minions", met them at fanfest and i am sure theyre competent. so i dont see too many problems with the economic oversight being lost or something.

but still its a loss, and the single person behind any ccp is something worth to this weird community.

best of wishes Dr Eyo, and please see that the university of Akureyri produces some interesting papers about this economical simulation were doing here. Big smile
