EVE Never Fades redux

Now this is a humble suggestion, but I don't see the harm in posting it...

It's no secret that CCP is kind of in 'damage control' mode after the Incarna fiasco, and they seem to be turning their act around as well as we could expect in the short time since Crucible's announcement and release. In my opinion, Crucible shows promise but CCP has a long way to go in putting EVE back on the right track. One possible way they might convince some old players to return to this redirected EVE is to appeal to their sense of nostalgia... With a remastered EVE Never Fades trailer.

For those of you who have never seen this old (but awesome) trailer; its an old EVE trailer from 2005 that is a favorite of a lot of older players. You can see it on EVE-O's trailer list, about 2/3 down the page. Or alternatively use this link -> YouTube Link [Sorry, 480p was the best on there so I suggest just looking it up on the main site]

Anyway, EVE Never Fades has been an old favorite of mine and a lot of players that started in that time of EVE's life. In fact, I probably wouldn't have bothered with even trying EVE if not for that trailer. I know a lot of players feel/felt the same way about it and I really think it would be a simple but beneficial project for CCP to redo that trailer with the new nebulae and post-Trinity graphics. Hell, they could even do it shot-for-shot if they wanted, although any new EVE trailer set to the same song as the old vid and with the same spirit would grab my attention.

I know CCP has a long way to go to fixing repairing their image, and a trailer doesn't actually improve the game, but it would be a nice "Hey, we are going back to the good old days" type message from CCP. Your thoughts?

Thats much different than Never Fades imo, a bunch of combat scenes are great and all, but it doesn't capture the sandbox the way the old trailer did. Also, dubstep sucks What?

you cant make an eve never fades redux w/o the original music from JunkieXL

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

Weell… EVE Never Fades made the Badger and the Reaper look like action heroes, so maybe something a bit more truthful than a shot-by-shot remake could be conjured up. P

Then again, they'd had to bring back the Gallente pleasure dome to do that, so I'm all for it.

Agreed. Whatever might change in a remake, the music has to stay.

I don't think it would help bring back old players to have an old trailer revamped. I also didn't much care for either of those posted above.

Dominion, on the other hand, was amazing.

Dominion did have an amazing trailer, but it was misleading as far as game mechanics are concerned.

Goody goody. Christmas is coming, and you can stare at the blinking lights...watch this trailer...get a life.

I like all of the EVE trailers.

But my all time favorite is still the EVE Trinity trailer - the incredible majesty of the EVE Universe, the vastness, coming from an open world with no theme park style scripted game play, and the chance to reach out and build your own dream, that is in my opinion well displayed in the Trinity trailer, unmatched by any other so far. I also love the slow pace which allows you to be in awe and to dream as the beautiful pictures gently pass by.

And I just love the final line of that trailer "And all of it is yours".

That is the first EVE trailer I ever saw, and it convinced me to give it a try.

Good call. Smile

Revelations II was also very nice trailer, somewhat eerie and with great narration.

Was looking for this trailer for ages but couldn't even remember the name Roll Along a vague idea of the voice and narration style especially the term "Graviton Smartbomb" was burned into my brain. Seems like I found again what I had lost (and what brought me to EVE).

Yeah, finally! Thanks man!

Btw, I see it the way that "Eve never fades" captures the broader picture of the vast opportunities smaller and bigger conglomerates of players can have in New Eden, while "Caldari Outlaw" focuses more on the story behind and the opportunities of a single pilot.

Would love to see more of this kind!

Caldari outlaw!

This is the trailer that made me start playing EvE, I then quit, working now on coming back. I even made a ingame life of a pvp ganker on a WoWpvp server using this trailer replacing everything with wow content and using same soundtrack. After some editing it turned out pretty cool. But I am back since WoW could never replace EvE.

So my point is, make a remakeof this trailer or a part 2 :)

oh and that video also made me be a pirate for a year...

Seconded, but mostly because I'm a complete sucker for the music.

I wonder… how would it look if you did something similar with the old build and the new V3/Nebula/Shadow/Lighting revamp? It might not be quite as drastic, but still… (do eeet!). P

Sounds like a mating call you are looking for. I always thought bitter vets are too bitter to want to mate. Mabye CCP could show a little leg in a youtube video and bring em back though.

Eve Never Fades is my favourite trailer too. I had to buy an album, to get a hold of that awesome tune. Cool
