[Crius] So now that the bogeyman of mineral compression is dead...

... can we relax some of the restrictions on cargo inside ship maintenance bays? Half the purpose of a ship maintenance bay is to refit ships, and that's really frustrating when you can't take alternative mods with you. Since then the corp division tabs on fleet hangars have been removed, making it even harder to share out modules from a capital ship.

CCP originally brought this restriction in to stop people from using carriers as makeshift haulers, back in the days when all minerals were compressed into modules, packed into haulers then the whole lot was loaded into carriers. They also wanted to stop nested containers, such as Carrier > Hauler > GSC > cargo.

Now that mineral compression into modules will no longer be viable after Crius, can ship mods be allowed as valid cargo again, alongside ammo and charges?

Also unnecessary restrictions make for a bad sandbox. Bad CCP, bad.

I see your point and I like the idea, but I can still abuse this. Right now, let's say I have 40k m3 of T2 mods. If I wanted to move them from Tenal to M-O (my alliance's current deployment area), I would have to make four carrier trips, or four BR trips, or pay a jump freighter pilot 10-20m to move them. After your proposed change, I throw all those mods in a rigged, maxed cargo Iteron V, put it in the SMA and make one trip with ~720k m3 space for doctrine combat ships. That's some serious power projection.

I could restock a regional market in one carrier trip.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Carriers can already do the same thing with t2 ammo or nanite paste - and carry more than enough of those to maintain a market. But how many people actually do that, who don't already use a Rorqual and/or a JF?

It's a pretty niche thing, and only really effective for T2 ship mods. There's a plethora of other commodities needed, and the proper hauling ships will always be superior options.

This was always annoying me.
Drugs, 1-2 modules or something like this - and i/or someone cannot haul this ship.
Jump freighters have very specific role , but why i can load full bay of ammo of my ship , but i cannot carry 1 module?
I know that people will going to abuse it, still after this big NERF both to JF cargo , and the Fuel consumption , it will be still better to move stuff using jump freighters.

Iteron V, unpackaged is around 275,000 m3, i don't know if it can carry more than 50k m3 , so 3 of those into the carrier will give us 150km3 in a carrier.
This is HALF of Jump freighter.

I know that Carriers have longer range , they can defend them self, they have tank ... but again this is very annoying and illogical restriction.

You should check out the DST thread. It appears that you can do exactly what we are discussing with the new DST.
