Hi there. I'm very new to this game, and have been using a Thrasher fitted out like this to run level 1 missions for a few days. I ran three level 3 missions in it with two friends who had Battlecruisers as well, and surprisingly didn't end up in a pod.

My current fit is like this:
High Slots:
200mm Autocannon I (EMP S)
200mm Autocannon I (EMP S)
200mm Autocannon I (EMP S)
200mm Autocannon I (EMP S)
200mm Autocannon I (EMP S)
200mm Autocannon I (EMP S)
200mm Autocannon I (EMP S)
"Arbalest" Rocket Launcher (Foxfire Rocket)

Medium Slots:
Small Shield Booster I
Invulnerability Field I
Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters

Low Slots:
Gyrostabilizer I
Insulated Stabilizer Array I

Rigs: None fitted, one bought

congrats.

Yeah, pretty much level 1 missions you do in a top tier frig or destroyer, level 2 in a cruiser, level 3 in a BC, and level 4 in a battleship.

Hopefully your corpies know what they are doing and provide you with good ship fitting and skill training advice.Smile

btw, it's often worth spending for meta "named" mods and weapons. base tech I gear is rather bad.

It occures to me that with the destroyer buff coming in a few days, they're going to be rather ace at rinsing through lvl 1 and lvl 2 missions.

^^^^ this

In fact the named gear is sometimes cheaper than the tech I gear, so you should really look into getting it.

Look at the info for the named stuff and it will have a "meta level". Level 4 is the best named stuff down to level 1 which is the worst named stuff, all are better than Tech 1 modules. Don't spend too much to get them but if the prices are comparable why not get the better stuff.

Looks pretty good, but one thing that needs pointing out

Insulated Stabilizer Array I - Its a hybrid gun damage mod and so will only work with Railguns and Blasters. If in doubt with the named damage mods, double check the description.

You can get some great performance out of the thrasher with some minor cheap weapon changes as already mentioned, for example replacing the 125mm Gatling Autcannon I with the Meta 2 (125mm Gallium I Machine Gun)Meta 3 (125mm Light Prototype I Automatic Cannon) or the Meta 4 (125mm Light 'Scout' Autocannon I) depending on what you can afford.

The same goes for the shield booster, the higher the meta the better, you may also want to consider the Small Shield Booster II as the skill requirements are very low and can be done within a day, and will give you a lot more bang for your buck, and will be an item you will keep coming back to.

Stasis Webifier is a good choice, but with a few levels of the Motion Prediction skill trained your tracking will be more than enough with that gun, I'd recommend using a Viscoelastic EM Ward Salubrity I (EM resist when fighting Amarr, Sansha or Blood Raiders) or a Additional Thermal Barrier Emitter I (Thermal resist when fighting Serpentis or Gallente) as the natural shield resists are pretty low. If you want to keep the damage up then keep the webifier.

So an example fit might be:

Thrasher Fit wrote:
7x 125mm Light Prototype I Automatic Cannon

1x Small Shield Booster II
1x Additional Thermal Barrier Emitter (or Stasis Webifier I completely up to you)
1x Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters

2x Pneumatic Stabilization Actuator I (or Counterbalanced Weapon Mounts I if money allows)

I lied :o

Honestly, if you're going to be running missions with friends then you can pretty much fit it however you like. That being said...

I started off soloing missions for about the first 2 months I played. The Thrasher is what I flew, but I used an artillery fit rather than ACs.

Something like this, though my memory is a tad fuzzy to say the least:

Arty-Thrasher

Highs
7x 250mm Light Gallium I Cannon
1x wild card - salvager, standard launcher, etc.

Mids
1x 1MN AB of some kind, probably arcjet thrusters
1x Shield Booster, whatever I could fit
1x Capacitor Recharger

Lows
1x Tracking Enhancer
1x DCU

Rigs
I haven't the faintest what I put in my rigs slots. Probably nothing.

PG & CPU are both very tight on the Thrasher, especially if you haven't trained up core skills. Engineering and electronics are both pretty important, training them up ASAP is not a bad idea in the least.

The benefit of flying an artillery fit Thrasher is that you can (to some extent) dictate range, which means very little incoming damage to tank and plenty of opportunity to run if things get ugly. The disadvantage is that it can take a looooong time to kill certain targets - active armor rats aren't that bad but shield boost rats are the devil.

Changed up the fit and switched out the 125mm Gatling Autocannons for some 200mm Autocannons. Also switched out the hybrid gun module for a low-slot module.

On lvl 1 missions, this thing actually performs a lot better than my Rupture, which I fitted out with 220mm Vulcans. The Rupture didn't have anything else fitted on it though, as I thought of it as able to tackle any lvl 1 mission I could throw at it without trouble. So not true ... payed 300k ISK to repair that baby.

First, bigger is not always better. In your case, the comparatively big cruiser guns were probably having trouble tracking the frigates.

Second... yeah, fully fitting the ship is important. If you can't manage to fill all of the ship's slots, it's a pretty sure sign of you not being ready to fly the thing. P
If the thrasher is giving you good results, just stick with it for a while.

Yes, I don't plan to be moving up to the Rupture for a while now that I've actually tried it out. I don't really need it yet, and I don't think it will help me all that much in higher-level missions that I run with my friends until I can get a proper tank fitted out on it and get some of my cruiser skills up.

I think I'll shoot for a T2 Frigate/Destroyer for now. I'm currently training Minmatar Frigate to level 5... 4 days left. The good thing is that Frigates and Destroyers use the same turrets and stuff, so it shouldn't be too hard to get them both up to T2.

Are T2 Destroyers worth it? I know T2 Frigates are, but I haven't heard much about T2 Destroyers.

Ehem, level one missions? Beginners friendly?

Tracking Enhancer II
Tracking Enhancer II

1MN MicroWarpdrive II
Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction

200mm AutoCannon II, x7
Auto Targeting System II

Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Small Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer I

Best you can get, a killer setup. Automatically acquires targets (verify) F1, F1, F1, mission over. MWD works in missions. 530 alpha is an overkill for lvl 1 missions. Nearly 8000 EHP, you can fall asleep and wake up at 60% shield there. Also an over tank. Winmatari online.

(I am very skilled in small ships, flown small since 2006. With my spec in small stuff I am not familiar with HACs and above)

This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

WARP DRIVE makes eve boring

really - add warping align time 300% on gun aggression and eve becomes great again

T2 destroyers are called interdictors, and have the very specialized role of launching interdiction bubbles. (bug bubbles that you can't warp out of)

T1 destroyers are actually better at shooting things. : /
