I mean... It seems like a good idea, but then every time we have a decent patch where stuff gets changed people jump on here crying like they got blind-sided by a freight train when their ship got rebalanced or something was changed about mining.... Reducing the visibility of the sticky dev posts would just increase that spam significantly, making relevant posts slip off the front page faster.

I mean come on... How many people already don't read the commonly proposed ideas sticky? You really want to see stuff like that get worse?

?

They wouldn't have reduced visibility if they had their own section. There would be a section dedicated to CCP threads, named something like "Features Discussion & Feedback", and another section for player-created threads, named "Player Ideas & Features Discussion". It would be two separate things and increased visibility.

You split it into two different sections, that is two different websites people have to visit in order to get all of the information currently provided on one website.

In truth these posts already have their own section: News and Announcements. Many of the stickies in this forum have more context there, but they are posted here because Features and Ideas gets more traffic, which increases the visibility of important information CCP wants to spread and/or get feedback on. Things like the pirate ship rebalances and Mordu's ships, along with several other posts here, are more announcements than feature discussions. CCP has already made a decision and is moving forward with it in a serious way, they're just basically double-checking to make sure they didn't miss anything obvious by reading the feedback on the announcement.

I can say with a fair amount of confidence that the majority of people visiting Features and Ideas aren't here to see the dev posts, but to make posts of their own or to comment on the posts of other players. It's what I do, and the behavior of many other people fits that pattern also. Dev stickies only get looked at after I finish replying to topics of interest posted by players, but they do get looked at. If you move them somewhere else I would probably stumble in there once a month or so.

In short: What you're asking for already exists, but CCP puts these announcements here because they want to make sure the information gets the appropriate amount of exposure.

I disagree. Many of the dev posts in F&I are not simple announcements as you say, and are still up for debate. Of course, if CCP is going to post about something in here they have more of less already made a decision about going forward with this, but they might want more feedback / suggestions / numbers crunching from the community than with simple news posted in News & Announcements. I don't think the News & Announcements section would be appropriate for most of the current F&I dev threads.

I agree. But then, it doesn't matter if the stickied posts should go in News & Announcements or in a new section as I suggest it, the point is they should go away because they're now getting in the way of one of the primary roles of the F&I section. I believe putting the dev posts in another section would still grant them good visibility. You would maybe not check them 20 times a day like you check F&I, but if you're a tiny bit interested in upcoming features, it'd be a forum section you'd check pretty regularly, enough to see new threads and voice your opinion.

Currently down to 6 non-sticky threads on page 1. This is becoming quite annoying !

Howabout each new sticky gets a bit of time on the main page as well as the subsection, but after a while it gets moved to just the subsection. A while might be just when a new set of stickies are thrown up. That way the freshest stickies are always very visible (but also available in the subsection for those who are only looking there), and the majority of the stickies are out of the way.

Could you please do something about this, CCP ? Or at least clear up the front page a bit ! Thanks.

Shouldn't the massive amount of stickies be placed in a "Feedback" section not in F&I. I mean this section was crap before, but now it is just terrible with 95% of the front page being taken up by stickies.

It is rather overwhelming, and with a much quicker release schedule, it's only going to get worse. Something has to be done about this before it gets even more out of control.
