Yep...

Sad part is that is from 05, better engine trails, shield hits, better weapon impacts, better explosions, drones that launch and land in a bay, miss effects that show and look way better.

Maybe the summer exp can be Eve: Nexus

thats a pre rendered trailer. please link to nexus the game and i would (partially) agree if you speak of physics and weapon effects.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Check out X the series. Single player, open ended, never ending. Breathtaking, never want to quit playing (even though you are always solo). Music, it wins the game, all of the series.

I came to eve from X series. X-tension, X-btf, X2, X3 - reunion. Very good atmospheric game, with combat, fittings, economics, political and military influence. More exploration, space is unknown and uncharted, steep learning curve, very good combat and market AI. Can have factories. More focused on industry and technological process whereas EvE is focused on markets and post production product lifecycle.

also: made in Europe

This post sums up why the 'best' work with DCM inc.

WARP DRIVE makes eve boring

really - add warping align time 300% on gun aggression and eve becomes great again

Ah this video again.

You didn't post the good one where the guy has his ships fly into the atmosphere of the planet and his ship heats up. Yeah, that game engine is pretty and he released a movie in 2011 that pooped on the one you just linked.

What he's doing is amazing and looks great. However, the tech behind EVE is from the late 90's. When EVE was first built, the code and development they initially used was older. That game you linked has been in development for almost 8 years now and still hasn't gotten any funding from a publisher or dev.

It's pretty, and it can do some nice things. Keep in mind, that game started it's development 3-4 tech generations after EVE online was released to the public. So, it should look better. While the game looks nice and seems to do some cool things, it still has a lot of problems with it's engine.

Anyway, here's another video of the combat, holyfucksticks this looks boring.

Pre-rendered in 2005, meaning that computers now, and graphics engines now are more then capable of doing that live rendered. I am pretty sure my 580 can keep up with those graphics no problem.

Oh by the way, I am actually playing nexus right now. The damage effects on the ships are better. the explosions are better. the engines look WAY better. The weapon fire looks better. The effects of blowing up look better. The only thing that doesn't look better is the ambient background out in space.

Just watch youtube-battles from "Nexus: The Jupiter Incident", way better presentation then EVE ever had.

What i always missed is some massive explosions that show Capital Ships breaking apart. But hey, we play zoomed out anyways right?

I really like some of the effects there, but the textures and designs are a bit bland.

Id like to see you try that again while loading up about 50 ships on the same screen or try 100 ships hell 300 ships just for kicks and giggles.

Also nexus was cancelled twice. They're having a fund raiser now but its not doing to well.

I remember the trailer for mech warrior 2, There are some games I still havent seen games that good yet.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.

Psh, here is the orginal game, in HD, I really don't think the trailer is wrong for the upgrade of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6PRJMddV4E

Note I am not talking about the game play... I am talking effects, the effects are SOOO much better... also lets note this game is from 2004.

Also nexus 2 is in post production... feel free to donate...

Eve already is making lag a feature, we could have lowered effects as well... O wait... don't people do that already? No brackets etc?

This would look epic in anything going on in HS... missions, wars, small gang pvp...

Look at the engine trails alone... In eve, you have the main engine graphic, and it extends PAST the trail (lolz)

The misses are for your client only, looking at another persons ship they are all hits (so my testing has shown).

Look at WiS eve was like O let's come out with... 1 room was maxing out a vid card... please...

The miss effects alone are way better than the half ass **** eve gave us.

CCP wants the super great sci fi game... yet really... it looks so crappy, cause again... remember this was done in 2004.... **04**

Shouldnt you know better then this Nova as you are interested in graphics? Well...maybe you dont't understand the tecnical part behind it.

Loading this stuff with 50 ships (which JTL did already do) is no problem, and loading 500 right now closerange in EVE brings your client to its knees too, so what?

Doing it while zoomed out its what LoD is for, what lower settings are for, and dynamic loading is for. Don't spread rumors that the hardware is not powerfull enough today to do what was displayed there 2005, because its just not true.

Doing it with DX11 routines is even better performance wise and can give you immense detail closerange.

They are making a sequel!! Right now the original devs are trying to raise funds at http://www.games-plant.com/nexus2/ but funds wont be taken unless they reach their goal. It was such an awesome game and deserves a sequel.

Let's not forget EVE is an MMO, Nexus is not. Yes, it does make a performance difference.

Pretend Dev harder.

Im sorry but the miss and hit thing is a traffic problem not a real graphics problem.

Phsyics engine is also bad for same reason traffic and network problem.

WiS technology is only shared with one other game at this very moment. Battlefield 3 and on console it only runs at 30fps and unlike incarna Battlefield people models are not that worried about how many warp points there are in people. so one incarna person can easily outweigh the performance of 10 copy pasted soldiers.

Engine thrusts are part of the ship model. Engine a seperate entinty anchored onto the model.

I could go on listing hundreds of stupid things and interations the bottom point is, when its an mmo its a learning process you have room to stumble and improve. Also find me another mmo thats is old as eve and is still around and has better graphics.

Next Moot Point

Art Direction. Learn it.

I wasnt talking about LOD featuers I was talking about CPU/Memory cycles of all the damn AI thinking. Some games AI is computer breaking. Halo oddly enough comes to mind as one of the smartest AI systems out there. (It observes, weights, communicates then executes) where other shooters just follow a complicated script of shoot player A with said tools.

You also have to forget it is an MMO there are players out there playing eve on a 10 year old laptop still and its thier only computer.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.

I too come from the x-series (namely X3 Reunion), as I missed an online element.

Regrettably, Egosoft just spoiled X-Rebirth by moving back to a single player ship; until they said that, i was sure to move from EVE and into X-Rebirth when XR was released.

X Series are made in Europe, as EVE.
And Egosoft decided they can pretty much ignore 53% of their customer base and go for a controversial design decision against such opposition, much as CCP did a few months ago.
