Wat™

Wut?

What?

Huh?

Oh.. its this old thing again.

Yes.... GTA is the worst thing to happen to society since... well.. pretty much every terrible act of violence ever in human history.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

When I read an article like this I just know I'm in for some serious mind-numbing, aneurysm-inducing, god-questioning STUPIDITY.

Yet I always read the damn thing anyway

You should have seen childrens after the russian revolution, there was so many children without parents, that they organized themselves in gangs, murdered each other, steal, have sex with eatchother and beat eachother to death. Big amount of them have been used in NKWD at the war and post war, regim have catched them (wasn't easy) put them in orphanages and used Dzierżyński (polish guy that was communist) to use their moral corruption and teach them to fear the regime and officers. All of this without any computer games.

Again, situation in Russia is not good, they have something like 700k "bezprizornych" children, parents leave them because alcohol and drugs are more important to them. I wonder if Putin will give an order to do to those childre what Dzierżyński have done, make a state army of devoid of morality puppets that feel important only when kicking someone weaker in the stomach. The page lists the quote including "[sic] problems" while the video says it was "[sic] problem"

kinda lost credibility from that

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

The article is ridiculous, of course but my little brother is 10 and I wonder how games like GTA might affect him and what kinds of things he can learn. The problem with what a brutal simulated environment can teach you isn't with the game itself, but the lack of interaction outside the game. The game shouldn't all there is for the kid to absorb..

lol I can't even play it, it's depressing. Luv the street racing though... well... well enough, but it's not very realistic at that. Although it does have something EVE doesn't have, a jukebox to play my own music Blink best feature!

I'm in it for the money

I once read an interesting reply to the "video games cause violence" spin.

Seems this kid would get picked on and bullied at school.

He used video games at home as an outlet to vent his rage and anger.

It helped him feel better, and he never did anyone any harm.

Thread locked as is connected to RL politics and/or leading to rl political comments. I'm sorry to say I have better things to do today then keeping an eye on a thread on a really old debate topic in OOPE.

The Rules:
22. Post constructively.

Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online provided that it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved.
