What purpose does this ship, if any, fill in a PvP setting?

Which PvP settings does it excel in (solo, small gang, large gang, blob)?

What are some other ships that fulfill a similar role, and what are their
strengths and weakness in comparison to the Amarr Armageddon?

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear.

Cap warfare.

Mostly small and large gang, blob support can be useful I guess.

Bhaalgorn does it better but costs 1b+, curse has a similar role but is a recon. Ashimu too, upcoming faction cruiser changes should make it viable. Both the ashimu and curse as cruiser hulls can only wield medium neuts compared to the Armageddon larges.

Pro-tip: look at the bonuses

Basically it can reach out and touch things with Heavy Neuts out to ~36 kms... field 5 heavy/sentry drones with lots of room for extras... and has the option of using any Turret or Missile Launcher (but with no bonuses towards them).

The Dominix can do almost all the same things as the Armageddon... but instead of the neuting range bonus it has a drone damage application bonus (tracking)... it cannot fit any missiles... and it has slightly less armor.

Basically... the Amageddon is beefy Electronic Warfare ship reminiscent of the Curse (Tech 2 Recon Cruiser) with the option of fitting for damage.
Like all battleships, it shines when supported by others and is more lackluster when solo (because it is VERY slow and easily caught)... but it can hold its own against smaller ships better than most of its battleship peers and cause a bit of concern for capital pilots (due to its neutring range).

It's a disposable nueting ship. It takes their cap away so they can't do stuff.

The role it fills is pretty similar to a Bhaal or Nuet legion, but with better range (less nueting power than a bhaalgorn, and less tank than a nuet legion), but for around 1/4 the cost. Compared to a nuet Abaddon, you trade an 8th heavy nuet and ~50-60k EHP (I think? Something like that?) for tons of range.

The main thing to keep in mind, is that while it does have a range bonus, it actualy nuets for LESS than any 8-highslot nuet fit BS (like an Abaddon) since it has no bonus to nuet amount. Thus 'geddons are best when fighting mid/long range ships that are somewhat mobile (other BSs, BCs and cruisers). Against capitals especialy, but also any sort of brawling ship (blaster boats and armor BCs and the like) any nuet amount bonused ship is going to be better, or a resist bonused 8 high slot BS (abaddon being the most popular).

Dude.. check its bonuses. More obvious is impossible. IF there is ONE battleship whose role is clear as crystal is the geddon

That theorethycal abaddon of yours, besides haveing way shorter range on neuts.. will do near zero dps. WHile the geddon still can dish a VERY reasonable DPS ammount.

Who cares? It's role in that scenario isn't to apply DPS. Infact, by dropping the hardeners on an enemy ship you will end up doing alot more damage then before, more than making up for the loss of DPS on the Abaddon.

This one's a bit over the edge guys.

Locked for breaking... well, pretty much all the rules.

It's main role in PVP is making sure solo PVP isnt a thing since everyone in a small gang has geddons now and you can't engage it solo in basically anything.

There is no Bob.

the ship is a former shadow of itself, now its just a big target with no real purpose.

Made a signature so I am taken seriously on the forums, since thats the only thing they are good for.

Thank you for the replies;
I was aware of the bonuses
but not of the meta and its
relations to others. I now
have a better point of view.

+1 to the EVE community. (except for that one guy)

hmm, i love it for pvp purposes. Ok Bhaal is stronger but the 12km is great and the drone damage is reasonable too.

To be honest it has plenty of useful roles. For example:

PVE Ship:
Cruise Missile Launchers
2 X Drone Range Augmentations

3X Drone Damage Aug II's
Sensor Booster with Targeting Range Script
2X Drone Range Optimization Modules with scripts

Presto, you've got a PVE battleship capable of dealing 700-1000 DPS with T1 Sentry Drones and Cruise Missiles out to 85k

It also makes a good pvp bait ship.

3 X Heavy Neut
3 X Medium Neut
1 X Drone range Aug

3 X Drone damage Aug
Drone Optimal Range Module
Dual Webs and a Warp Scram
T1 or T2 Sentry drones or Ogre II's

Makes a perfect bait ship to kill people who love to get up close and personal with Battleship or Battlecruiser. Support it with a T2 Guardian Logi and it will hold a Megathron all day long while eating it caps and wearing down it's armor. Any ship smaller than a battleship will have it's cap drained in a single cycle.

I've found with EVE you have to be inventive. There are always "optimal ways" to do things according to the statistic obsessive basement dwelling min/max crowd. However, I've also found when you do things that go against the grain, it really screws people up and they don't adaptive to your wierd choices before they end up flying away in their pod.

Experiment and find your own style.

It's a golden 'make-you-cry' machine.

Need a dedicated neut boat with beefy tank? Fit it with such.
Need a large dps boat with utility neuts? RLHM's and DDA's.
Need to make Logi cry? See the first fit, and fill the mids with sensor damps.

Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/

specific case that I used it for was a tengu killer. Neut out their tank and let friends/drones do the damage.

Despite my posting prowess I really am terrible at this game
