WTF happened to them? I come back and all the prices are ridiculously low.... DG LSBs 10mil.... Pith C-Type XLs 45 mil?! Am I missing something or did the shield booster market really die?

several factors:
- armor reps got a 15% buff across the board
- heavy missiles got nerfed, making the tengu less popular
- probing got overhauled, drastically increasing the number of explorers
- marauders got overhauled, now have silly resistances and repair bonuses, making an expensive booster unnecessary.

I should buy an Ishtar.

Without a doubt, Ancillary Shield Boosters helped out there, why use a really expensive high cap efficiency booster if you can have one that boosts more for no cap at all.
The only downside being that you can't run it continually and it has a very long reload, but with sufficient resists you won't need it that much any way.

These have also come down alot as well, Pithum A-Type Medium SBs used to cost 1+bil, but now they are around 500+mil which is a huge drop.

Basically why toss another 100m on a sleipner or 300m on a nightmare when you can do the same thing for 5m and free up a slot that doesnt have to be a cap booster anymore.


Hence the DG and everything else tanking.

You don't really 'free up a slot' if you're using ASBs because if you want a decent sustained tank you need 2 ASBs, using only 1 is pretty much the same as just fitting a buffer tank (although more effective if you manage to get all your cycles off). Double ASBs are also harder to fit than a regular SB + Cap Booster, it is also more limited by cap boosters than a SB + Cap Booster fit is. However that all being said, ASBs really are extremely powerful and definitely played a role in dropping the Faction/Deadspace shield booster prices.
